Here in southern Michigan we've had our first frost. Luckily we were able to get all the tomatoes, peppers and green beans picked before it hit. I thought my sweet potatos would survive but they didn't. The leaves were all black and withered the next morning. When I dug them up, there were only about six that had grown big enough to be worth anything.

I always feel a little sad at the end of the growing season. How're things in the rest of the country? Had your first frost down south yet?

I wish ours had held off just a little while longer. We're having seventy-five degree days and nights in the thirties! You'd think I'd be used to it by now but every year at this time I hate living up here.

Upper 70's to lower 80's here during the day and nights into the 50's. The days don't lower below 50 until January for the most part. I couldn't stand it up North too damn cold for too long.

I am with ya all the way Raina...Every year that first bit of cold cuts through me and fills me with questions on why I am still here in Michigan.

Which reminds me that I am going to shop on line for a real WARM winter jacket this year!!! My jacket from last year didnt cut it.

Where I live in Californiastan, I rarely see frosts; sometimes they do occur and one of them (the most severe in history) destroyed my fine jade plant. The previous winter it had bloomed spectacularly...it was the first and last time it ever bloomed! In fact, fall here does not get to its peak colors until early December! For us, it's early fall! ;)

They are a little pricey, but you will need to buy only ONE in your lifetime.

I love mine! :D
