The Steyer scout rifle.

I Want to know has anyone fired one of these Austrians and how would you outfit one?

Its available in three different stocks and two barrels 19" and (22" available as an option on the Scout or Tactical version).

Jeff Cooper, I do admire his reasoning and experience. I've only read one of his books, however, and "The Scout" being only seven pounds in a 308. looks like it is one innovative - well designed bolt-action rifle.

Q. what exactly is a cold-rolled-hammer-forged barrel and advantages thereof? Is this in general the main theme of Steyer-Mannlicher rifles?

If you had only pack ammo and one rifle to CARRY, would it not be the lightest and versatile shebitch of all bolt-action tactical rifles, the Steyer Scout? I'm an ex tanker so hey, SSK industries now makes a 14 pound 50. cal. too with a reduced recoil, why not light weight? How do they engineer that with a 50. cal, the barrel on the mardeuse turret mounted mustav' been almost 25 lbs. anyway...

Here are some details from, http://www.steyer-mannlicher.com

"The STEYR Scout is one of the most versatile rifles on the market. Combining innovative engineering, lightweight, reliability and great accurancy into a handy and compact shooting system. Equally at home serving as a light sporter, tactical rifle, or in the survival mode, the STEYR Scout may prove to be the only rifle you will ever need!"

Specially designed features
