Hales Design Group (California) made very high quality audio speakers and is now defunct after a failed business merger. Someone on Audiogon is selling a very rare pair of Transcedence 8's (Hale's top of line) which sold for about 10 grand when new.

What sets the Hales apart from other highend speakers is the the Hale's by far have the best spatial fidelity of any speaker I've heard.
Spatial fidelity, perhaps the hardest audio characteristic for an audio speaker to achieve, is musical instruments appearing to be playing from different areas of the room.
