Rep Paul Findley of Illinois wrote THE definitive books on the power of the Israel lobby. They're good books, but Findley himself is basically a midwestern wasp liberal.

As drab as his books, itz.

I found They Dare to Speak Out in a used bookstore with a full page of Arabic scribbling in the front. I spent weeks trying to figure it out, no dice. But I learned more than from reading the book. The one engaging part was the chapter on his visit to Yemen. — Which of course is nothing against his value as an outspoken man. But there should be more style to this sort of thing, something compelling.

you're right, it's dry and boring, but in terms of it being used as a gateway educational item, that's not always bad since it can fly under the "antisemitic" radar.

and he makes points that others are loath to make-- namely, the ridiculous fact that the jews treat criticism of jews as per se antisemitic.
