Why we are not going to Auschwitz
The NPD faction refuses to take part in the parliamentary trip to the concentration camp Auschwitz.
The NPD party leader Holger Apfel replied to the open invitation by the President of the Landtag Erich Iltgen today to take part in a trip to the former concentration camp Auschwitz:
"The NPD faction will not participate in onesided atonement confessions - neither in Auschwitz nor anywhere else. We consider those, who need to cultivate guilt complexes, should finance it from their own private resources and not at the expense of the taxpayer.
Furthermore, if ever the established parties are able to bring themselves to commemorate the German victims of expulsion in Nemmersdorf or a similar symbolic place, we would be ready to reconsider a joint commemorative activity with the Landtag.
In addition, participation in a remembrance together with the representatives of the old parties is not possible, as long as people in Germany are held in prisons because they hold political convictions different to their rulers.
In any case, the reactions of the other factions shows that the President’s initiative it rather high-handed. Clearly, Mr. Iltgen wants to set the stage for a dispute with the NPD. I do not believe that he will have any success."
Herr Apfel reminded everyone of the fact that it was the President himself, who only last year thwarted an initiative of the NPD faction to commemorate the victims of the allied bombing attack on Dresden on the 13th February, 1945, by unilaterally fixing a one minute's silence on the agenda of the parliament [for the victims of National Socialism which the NPD demonstratively walked out of].
Today the NPD faction received several illustrations of public opinion on this subject. As an example one citizen wrote: "Have parliamentary representatives nothing more important to do? The people gain nothing from these trips! Unemployed persons, people on welfare and pensioners expect solutions to their unavoidable situations."
The NPD party leader went of to say:
"The President of the Landtag and the political forces supporting him are living in the past. In contrast, we the national democrats, devote ourselves to today’s problems and those of the future. On the 27th January our faction will hold a conference for the regional development of the Oberlausitz and, therefore, not be able take part in the event in the Plenary Hall of the Landtag."

NPD-Fraktion lehnt Beteiligung an Landtagsreise ins Konzentrationslager ab
Zu der von Landtagspräsident Erich Iltgen ausgesprochenen Einladung zu einer Reise in das ehemalige Konzentrationslager Auschwitz erklärte heute der NPD-Fraktionsvorsitzende Holger Apfel:
„Die NPD-Fraktion wird sich nicht an einseitigen Sühnebekenntnissen beteiligen – weder in Auschwitz noch anderswo. Wer unbedingt seine Schuldkomplexe pflegen will, der soll das aus seiner Privatkasse tun und nicht auf Kosten des Steuerzahlers.
Sollten sich die etablierten Parteien dazu durchringen können, in Nemmersdorf oder einem ähnlich symbolischen Ort auch an die deutschen Opfer von Flucht und Vertreibung zu gedenken, sind wir bereit, über eine gemeinsame Gedenkveranstaltung des Landtages nachzudenken.
Hinzu kommt, daß uns ein gemeinsames Gedenken mit den Vertretern der Altparteien nicht möglich ist, solange Menschen in Deutschland in Gefängnissen sitzen, weil sie aus Sicht der Herrschenden eine falsche politische Überzeugung vertreten.
Im übrigen zeigen die Reaktionen der anderen Fraktionen, daß es sich um eine eigenmächtige Initiative des Landtagspräsidenten handelt. Offenbar will Herr Iltgen die Form der Auseinandersetzung mit der NPD bestimmen. Ich glaube nicht, daß er damit Erfolg haben wird.“
Apfel erinnerte daran, daß es der Landtagspräsident war, der im vergangenen Jahr eine Initiative der NPD-Fraktion zum Gedenken an die Opfer des alliierten Bombenangriffs auf Dresden am 13. Februar 1945 ausbremste, indem er eine einseitige Gedenkminute auf die Tagesordnung des Parlaments setzte.
Die NPD-Fraktion erreichten heute mehrere Meinungsäußerungen zu diesem Thema. Ein Bürger schrieb z.B.: „Haben Landtagsabgeordnete nichts wichtigeres zu tun? Das Volk hat nichts von solchen Reisen! Arbeitslose, Sozialhilfeempfänger und Rentner erwarten Lösungen für ihre nicht selbstverschuldete Lage.“
Dazu sagte der NPD-Fraktionsvorsitzende:
„Der Landtagspräsident und die ihn tragenden politischen Kräfte leben von der Vergangenheit. Wir Nationaldemokraten widmen uns dagegen den Problemen der Gegenwart und der Zukunft. Am 27. Januar wird unsere Fraktion eine Tagung zur regionalen Entwicklung in der Oberlausitz durchführen und deshalb nicht an der Veranstaltung im Plenarsaal des Landtages teilnehmen.“
