What's the best kind of camcorder are you going to get? What kind of Mac did you get? Anybody have recommendations for cameras and camcorders? And for a/v software?

At SolarGeneral we're working on bringing TV style video onto it, at present my other video was shot down; however, I'm working on another video which should be 1/2 hour long. Attached is a screen capture from yet another test video unfortunately I don't have the many thousands of dollars needed to do chroma keying without having color spills go onto my person but this is a good start considering my budget for doing this is approaching nill.
Enjoy.

Any video editing program that does chroma keying and a 3ccd camcorder.
A 7' x 12' piece of wood, create a nice frame around it, paint it a highly saturated green. Best bet to color match would be print out on matte paper a small green box made in paint or photoshop with R=0, B=0, G=255. Match it up to that color and then go get a couple of gallons of flat paint in that green. Paint your 7' x 12' piece of wood that color, create yourself some reflectors to reflect light off of it and onto the 7' x 12' green board, making sure that the green background is completely and evenly lit. Cast some soft light on yourself. White balance your camcorder and away you go.
Also, the video editor must be able to use ALPHA channels too such as alpha channeled .TGA and .TIF files as you can use those type of files to create forground/background images or edit out something you don't want seen or create some other little effect you would much rather be in the video (e.g. false TV in the background, transparencies on TGA/TIF could be used in conjuntion with another videeo to create the sense you are in a large studio rather than a small room or a stuffy garage.)
----------
The reason being for green is before I knew what I was doing I have read up and consumer grade EQ deals with green better than it does blue, plus I only have a 1ccd camcorder so i'm at a real lose there.
And the reason for a 3ccd camcorder is the camcorder is better in lower light situations and has a higher sensitivity to light.

Right now I have a G4 powerbook. As for the camera, Canon or JVC is the best to go on a budget. I'm looking at the Canon X1 series: http://www.canondv.com/xl1s/xl1s_flash.html

Right now my only software is iMovie, but I would like to step up to the FinalCut series ASAP.
My apologies for not responding to this thread sooner.

Back in high school when I was in the media class where we messed around with video editing software and in my television class where we made the school's daily announcements. I used that canon camera before. Never really got the full use out of it because all I used it for was basic video shooting. Pretty heavy and expensive from what I remember. I remember using some video editing program and then we moved on to Final Cut Pro. Good stuff I still remember some of the usage out of it. It rendered the final footage much faster than the other one we used. If only I could remember the name. Anyway go for it and best of luck to you.

Get yourself some flat Green paint (something with an RGB value of 0,235,0) make yourself a nice big green backing and light it up nice and evenly. Put yourself infront of that and put some light on yourself, soft light to fill in your face and torso area. Then record yourself, do a nice little show with that. Then use the chroma key setting and replace that green background with a nice backdrop. Wallah, instant cinema green screen to be as offensive as you want. :)

Oh man that brings back memories of senior year of high school and being a host on the school's announcements. :D You can do some fun stuff if you can get a green painted chair too. Make it look like you fly. LOL
