I thought some here might find this of interest:
Hej,
As many of you know, I have been working on a translation of Viktor
Rydberg's book Fädernas Gudasaga (1887) for some time. I'm happy to
report that it has now been published.
Our Fathers' Godsaga can now be purchased at http://www.iuniverse.com
in either hardcover or paperback format. This 223 page text is a
complete translation of Rydberg's Fädernas Gudasaga including
Rydberg's own exhaustive "Catalog of Mythic Names" found at the back
of the book. I have also included all 11 illustrations by the
children's artist John Bauer, first contained in the 1911 German
translation of the book.
Fädernas Gudasaga is Rydberg's complete retelling of the Germanic
mythic epic from Creation to Ragnarök, based on the research
contained in his work Undersökningar i Germanisk Mythologi. [The
first volume of which was translated into English by Rasmus Anderson
as "Teutonic Mythology" found at
http://www.northvegr.org/lore/rydberg/
Fädernas Gudasaga has never appeared in English before. It is
currently only available on the iUniverse site, but will soon be
available through retail booksellers such as Barnes & Noble, Amazon,
and Borders. I wanted the heathen community to be the first to know.
To purchase the book in time for Yule, go to http://www.iUniverse.com and
type "Godsaga" into the search engine there. The paperback version is
$15.95. The hardcover is $25.95. Currently, you may browse the book
before you buy. Be aware that the browseable version is in low
resolution and does not reflect the actual quality of the published
work.
I thank you for your support over the years, and look forward to
hearing your feedback. If anyone would like a copy autographed,
simply mail your copy of the paperback or the dust jacket of the
hardcover to me, and I will return it to you.
Wassail,
William Reaves
