Weld some leather straps onto two 1/4 inch steel plates. Slip it on and put a belt around it and you're ready to go!

I've got a used vest I can sell you. It's rated to stop a level 18 threat, so you'll be able to take a direct hit from a small howitzer. It's gonna cost you a few bucks, though...
It LOOKS just like a life preserver, but don't let that fool you. I'll even let you test it out before you pay me.

A lowly troll with only 30+ posts like yourself isn't able to give out rep. I gave you some though.

I would be interested in finding out some facts on body armor, and from the other side what gun/ammo defeats it. Ammo that is legal to own.
I am trying to lose weight and I am low on cash, no sense in getting something that will not fit me, that I can't now buy, that gets better as time goes on. But things are coming to a point. Would "President Obama" get a willing Congress to band BA for private individuals? What if the Gook was wearing one at VT, took some hits and kept on killing disarmed students and donut chompers?

Here's a good question:
How tough would it be to cast your own slugs with a steel core?
Seems to me like you could clip off the sharp end of a tenpenny nail and put it in the mold before you pour in the lead. Hell; is there any reason you couldn't drill out a hardball bullet and insert some kind of hard core to defeat armor?

I mean, if you aren't smart enough to Google "body armor," why would you need any? http://www.bulletproofvestusa.com/products.htm
While you're at it, add "blunt trauma." You'll notice that none of this is advertised to prevent death from a hit with a .338 Win Mag and a 300-grain BTHP at 2300 fps. Then consider that shooters may not put them all in the "ten ring." Save your money.
Listen to Edgar J. Steele this week on a related topic: http://www.conspiracypenpal.com/columns/hellno.htm

The reason why I didn't google body armor is simple. there are a lot of weak websites to scroll through, some are only trying to advance their own ends, and i would figure true patriots like ourselves, would give honest advice.

as we all know the military and police will use, for the most part at ranges from 100 to 300 yards the M-16. Many military personnel are complaining that it ain't doing squat in Iraq. Now since these sand suckers are not equipped to the teeth, I figure that my chances for survival against the feminized military and keystone coppers will rise a hundred fold with some decent and fairly priced armor.
