KINGSTON - Brad Klinger of Kingston will be shooting for an unprecedented seventh straight world title when he participates later this week at the International Powerlifting Federeration World Masters championships in Schwedt, Germany.
Klinger, who is also the current world record holder in the Masters II 275-pound division, has been waiting since last September's national championships to go after title No. 7.
"The nationals were in Charlotte, North Carolina in September 2006 and the worlds were supposed to be in April, but were canceled because the city had a major conference and there were no hotel rooms available," Klinger said. "They rescheduled to now to accommodate all of us and I'm anxious to get over there."
Kingston firefighter Klinger had a lift of 606 pounds in the nationals and he hopes to surpass that mark in Germany.
