The firebugs responsible for an inferno that destroyed 30 homes in Victoria's southeast have been warned they will be caught and police will show no mercy.

Police believe the fires that hit several towns in Gippsland over the weekend were deliberately lit and suspect arsonists started even more blazes as firefighters battled to save lives and homes.
Victorian Premier John Brumby said a huge police presence was on the fireground, determined to catch the firebugs who would face the toughest arson penalties in Australia.

These complete parasites need to be hung from the nearest tree. Not only have they taken homes from Australians, to hope and faith from the families that are battling to keep their dreams alive.

Mate I am run off my feet here, I have already bagged and tagged more than enough.

And trust me most in the ICU are not going to survive.

When a person is burnt it continues burning into the body, there is little we can do.

New Zealand is sending 100 firefighters and Tassie kicking in 100 as well.

The army is has set up temp accommodation, and using heavy machinery to combat containment lines.

Basically as for the looting, its not high on the list. Its people we need to get out first and medical treatment.

People are basically animals that prey in the misfortunes of others.

Its robbing the dead, that is as low as it gets.

We have are working off two list mate, one that is accounted for the others that is not. Hence the figure of around 230 might be the end total at this stage.

Depends if other fires break out.

This has cost more than just the lives of the dead, some people have nothing, I can tell you there are farmers here wishing they had died.

Honestly its just crappy seeing a person reduced to nothing, that have sweat blood and tears into this land for generations, to have it gone.

The drought took most of their spirit, this has taken the rest.

Money helps replace what is physically lost, but I wonder what will replace the emotional loss.
