I was just speculating with someone the other day as to how soon Obama would start officially chimping out from having to do actual WORK, and how soon the whole family would chimp out from getting 'cabin fever' holed up in that White House with a fawning media slobbering over every trivial action. Didn't take long...

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D964BKD01&show_article=1 (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=washington&sid=breitbart.com)
WASHINGTON(AP) - On the rockiest day of his young administration, President Barack Obama did what surely made him happy for a while.

He left.

With little notice, the president and first lady Michelle Obama bolted the gated compound of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in their tank of a limousine on Tuesday. They ended up at a Washington public school, greeted by children who could not care less about the collapse of a Cabinet secretary nomination.

"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School.
"We got out! They let us out!" Mrs. Obama said as the kids and their teachers laughed. (Two weeks and already the chimp is worn out from having to actually do work. How's he gonna last 4 years?)

T.N.B.

The White House said the Obamas' trip had been planned, just not publicly announced. (Sureeeeeee.....)

The surprise timing, though, gave the feel of two different worlds.
At the White House, press secretary Robert Gibbs was getting grilled about Tom Daschle's doomed nomination for health and human services secretary.
Meanwhile, the president was getting questions from boys and girls who are the same age as his seven-year-old daughter, Sasha.

One child asked him if he had a favorite superhero. Spiderman and Batman, the president answered. (Ahhh, finally a question he could answer without hesitation!!)
T.N.B.

Another student asked what it was like to live in the White House. Mrs. Obama took charge on this one, delighting the kids with all the perks of life in America's most famous house: a florist, a bowling alley, a movie theater, even a special place where people make chocolate and candy.
"You should come visit," she said.

The stop at the school underscored a promise that the Obamas made and insist they will keep: to avoid getting caught up in a White House bubble. They say they will be visible parts of the Washington community—even in the midst of a hectic day. Or a difficult one. (A promise that has nothing to do with the health, safety and welfare of America or the American people)

Consider what happened just before the president left the White House compound. (I thought only anti-government 'wackos' holed up in 'compounds'. Hmmmm)

In the span of a few hours, he dealt with the aborted candidacy of his government's chief performance officer over an embarrassing tax problem; he announced a new commerce secretary nominee to replace the one who withdrew weeks earlier because of corruption investigation; and he accepted the stunning withdrawal by Daschle, who had his own problems over back taxes and ethical conflicts.

None of that came up at school, although Obama did sneak in a plug for his economic stimulus plan.

He was upbeat. He and his wife read the students a book about the inspirational story of astronauts landing on the moon. He took a class photo, accepted hugs from the children, thanked them for pictures they made him, and even delivered them a couple of brown-paper bags full of books.

"Thank you, guys," the president said to cheers. (obviously he's trying to recapture that campaign feeling where he didn't have to actually do any work, just ride around the country waving and being feted like a rock star)T.N.B.

Awaiting him back home: More questions.

This time, they would be coming from five television network anchors, in rapid-fire interviews in the Oval Office. And so goes the job.

That's one thing I have no respect for, ANY president visiting classrooms. If the first lady wants to do it, fine. But for the president it is JUST A STUPID WASTE OF TIME. Sounds like the bitch wife is going to go crazy first. She'll start drinking the mouthwash and have to go to rehab.

Barely two weeks into his first term in office, President Obama is sucking for air and grasping at straws to pull even the semblance of a single victory of any kind out of the rubble that is fast becoming his presidency. His Washington Post op-ed, and the other tactics being employed in the offensive he is waging to get this unstimulative $800,000,000,000.00 pork barrel spending bill passed as quickly as possible (with as few Americans actually reading it or hearing what is included), are clear signs of desperation on the part of a man who has never actually had to negotiate anything before in his life, and who hasn’t a clue how to actually lead anybody anywhere.

President Obama’s handling of this pork bill demonstrates how little reality reflects the transformational themes and sweeping rhetoric that made up the his campaign. Beneath the veneer of “post-partisanship,” of being a uniter and not a divide, and of a “new tone,” was a man who had never once successfully brought people together from opposite sides of the political spectrum in the past, who had never once managed anything so much as a candy store (remember all the late-campaign talk about how campaigning for president was all the experience he needed?), and who had never lead on anything in his life.

A major part of the issue here is that the President and Congressional Democrats — “lead” by Nancy “500 million Americans a month are losing their jobs!” Pelosi and Harry “Why yes, I did come straight from a Normal Rockwell painting” Reid — are all engaged in a game of who can avoid leading (and thereby being responsible) for anything the longest.

February 15, 2009 -- After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway.

Obama arrived at his home in Chicago on Friday, and treated wife Michelle to a Valentine's Day dinner downtown last night. The couple was spotted leaving upscale Table Fifty-Two, which specializes in Southern cuisine, with the first lady toting what appeared to be a doggie bag.
The president plans to spend the Presidents' Day weekend in the Windy City, and is not expected to sign the bill until Tuesday, when he travels to Denver to discuss his economic plan.

Both the House and Senate passed the bill Friday night.
The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn't have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote.

None of that came up at school, although Obama did sneak in a plug for his economic stimulus plan.

"The students will be voting on the bill later this week."

Whenever Bush took some time off, there was always a subtle undercurrent of mockery in the reporters accounts. Not so with His Most Holy Blackness. He has really good reasons for "getting out" of the White House for a while. Just look at how hard he's working for us, his fellow Americans!

"Mind if I take the afternoon off, Rahm?"

"Go ahead, Barry. Nothing I can't handle myself."

It's not like he's actually needed, except for the photo ops.
