Join a gun club. It s a good way to learn more about shooting. Dont just join, join and participate. I like IDPA for pistols and 3 gun matches. Here is a website about this sort of thing: http://www.uspsa.org/
For years and years I did targets and plinked and did gun shows etc but competition really is the way to go, to get better and force yourself out onto the range regularly. Try and build up a regular local shooting cell. Its still legal to have friends last time I checked!
