Agencies - A Hebrew newspaper has revealed Monday that 20 Zionist families were packing their bags, and plan to settle north of the occupied city of Jerusalem despite strong Palestinian opposition.

According to the paper, the settlers would settle in the Arab suburb of Samiramis that overlooks the Qalandia airport, alleging that the land where the settlers units would be established belong to Zionist families since 1973.

In the same context, the paper pointed out that Zionist war minister Ehud Barak participated in carrying and placing the Torah in a synagogue in the Islamic suburb in the Old City of Jerusalem.

It added that the visit of Barak to the synagogue comes in the framework of a Zionist plan to renovate the synagogue with money donated by a Jewish millionaire who is known for his financial support for fanatic Zionist settlers.

The Zionist settlement activities in Jerusalem persisted despite international, US, and EU apparent opposition to such activities.

Meanwhile, local Palestinian sources in Jerusalem's neighborhood of Silwan revealed that a portion of a street in Wadi Helwah caved in due to the underground Zionist excavations in the vicinity.

“The land slide produced a ten square meter hole in the street before workers of the Jewish-controlled municipal authority in the city rushed to repair it and to cover the crime”, said Jawad Siyam, a member of the suburb’s popular committee.

He, however, expressed concern over more possible collapses if the Zionist diggings below the suburb's streets persisted, saying, “Certainly, many collapses occurred here and there which we were not aware of because they (the Zionists) swiftly hide them".

The Zionist occupation authority (ZOA) had been and still is carrying out excavation activities under Al Aqsa Mosque putting the third holiest Muslim shrine in the world at risk. Palestinian groups succeeded in getting temporary restraining orders from Zionist courts to halt such activities, but the ZOA shrugged off those orders and pursued the excavations.
