Agencies - Israeli Human Rights group, Ir Amim, stated that the Jerusalem Municipality is planning to build some 150 housing units for Zionist settlers in a Palestinian neighborhood in the city.

The number of settlers expected to move into the new houses is 750, who would join the existing 2000 settlers living in Arab-Palestinian neighborhoods.

Ir Amim said that the Zionist entity always acted to increase the Jewish population in Arab neighborhood in the East Jerusalem, and that it wants to create a continuity of settlement in neighborhoods surrounding the Old City.

It added that plans for the new constructions are progressing, and that a plan to add 104 housing units for the settlers in Ras Al Amud, besides plans in Silwan, where some 20 units will be built, and the 30 planned units in Sheikh Jarrah.

The group also stated that two settler-driven groups, Elad and Ateret Cohanim, leading the charge for the construction of settlements in Palestinian neighborhoods.

It said that the plans are part of an organized, tactical maneuver supported by the Zionist government and the Jerusalem Municipality.
