Police confirmed a 45-year-old man had been arrested on Tuesday
The leader of the British National Party has been arrested as part of a police inquiry following the screening of a BBC documentary.

A party spokesman said Nick Griffin was arrested on Tuesday morning on suspcion of incitement to commit racial hatred.

West Yorkshire police confirmed they had arrested a 45-year-old man from outside their area.

BNP founding chairman John Tyndall was arrested on Sunday on the same charge. He has been released on police bail.

A BNP spokesman said: "At 0700 four non-uniformed police officers awoke the Griffin household from their sleep at their family farmhouse in mid-Wales.

"Mr Griffin was arrested and is currently in transit to a station in West Yorkshire.

"He is believed to have been arrested on suspicion of incitement to commit racial hatred."

Personal intrusion

While this is a disgraceful attempt by the fascist regime of Blair and Blunkett to silence political opponents let us not forget that Mr. Griffin and his family are real people in a real home. Less than 10 days before Christmas, with the family home decorated in preparation for the festive season four stormtroopers of the Blairite regime are now busy ransacking the home looking for material in relation to the alleged offence.

“Where is daddy, is he still in bed?”
“No dear, he has been taken away”

How do you explain to a ten year old that her father has been arrested and taken away to the police cells for making a political statement? This is not the Britain that many viewers will recognise, this is a scene more akin to something from Eastern Europe at the height of the Cold War, something akin to an everyday scene in a banana republic.

Another daughter has suffered a violent asthma attack, brought on by the stress resulting from the sight of these bullyboys working their way through her bedroom, opening wardrobe doors, violating her own personal and private space.

Anger understandable

We conclude by making an appeal for calm, all supporters are asked to remember that this is a deliberate attempt to disrupt the operation of the only political party in the UK that is a genuine opposition to the Blairite regime. With the JT arrest, which judging by the reports was a co-ordinated and pre-planned exercise. The arrest of Mark Collett and today the arrest of Nick Griffin. One thing IS for sure, the whole of Nationalism is now under attack.

I agree with HA, we need to stay calm and plot our way out of this.

I am tempted to shout out the question: "What are they afraid of ?". But I know the answer, the truth!

Police arrested the leader of the far-right British National Party (BNP) after he was secretly filmed calling Islam "a wicked, vicious faith".



The arrest of Nick Griffin on Tuesday, one-time host of French National Front leader Jean-Marie Le Pen, was warmly welcomed by Muslims, some of whom said the government should ban the BNP altogether.

Police arrested Griffin, 45, at his family farmhouse in Wales and took him to West Yorkshire, where officers are conducting a major probe into the activities of BNP members.

Griffin, later released on bail until next March, told reporters: "This is an electoral scam to get the Muslim block vote back for the (ruling) Labour Party."

Prime Minister Tony Blair's popularity plunged and his trust ratings plummeted after he took Britain to war in Iraq.

Racial hatred

Griffin's arrest came two days after police detained the party's 70-year-old founding chairman John Tyndall.

They have now arrested 12 people on suspicion of incitement to commit racial hatred since the investigation began five months ago. None has been charged.


Some British Muslims have called
for the BNP to be banned

The police probe was triggered by a BBC documentary, broadcast in July, which included footage of Griffin giving a speech in the northern town of Keighley in which he railed against Islam and its holy book, the Quran.

"This wicked, vicious faith has expanded through a handful of cranky lunatics about 1,300 years ago until it's now sweeping country after country," he said.

Other footage in "The Secret Agent" documentary - watched by some 4 million viewers - shows another BNP member expressing a wish to blow up mosques with a rocket launcher and machine-gun worshippers with "about a million bullets."

Another member told how he put dog faeces through an Asian shop's letterbox, while a third described how he beat up a Muslim man. "I'm kicking away...it was fantastic," he said.

Muslims welcome move

Muslims were jubilant at news of Griffin's arrest.

"At last!" said Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, which has long urged the government to outlaw the BNP. "This is extremely important."

"It should have been done long ago. There is no place in British society for the bigots of the BNP," he told Reuters.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), the biggest lobby group for the country's 1.8 million Muslims, also welcomed the arrests, saying it hoped police would now press charges.

"The BNP has been trying to develop a more polished image and a more sophisticated discourse but the BBC documentary showed that behind that facade, the ugly reality is still the same," said MCB spokesman Inayat Bunglawala.

Regarding Al-Jazeera, last I heard 'Jewish Interests' were attempting to buy shares in the company. Not sure it paid off though.

I don't regard JT etc being arrested being a great suprise. Look at the harrasment the Russian Secret police gave the Jews before the Russian revolution.......
