I did... twice on this recent tour. Last night was the last concert of the tour. They played at the Masquerade in Tampa, FL. Great show, good crowd.
Behemoth were great as a black metal band. Classic old school riffs. They opened for the whole tour. Black Dahlia Murder were not my kind of band. What I didn't like was when the singer came out on stage in Orlando and Tampa he says, "Hey what's up assholes?" I don't like being called an asshole by the frontman of a band. They weren't that good and I dunno why they were on that ticket. There are 1000 other bands who would've been much better. Nile put on a good show but their songs are kinda slow for the most part. King Diamond played each show I saw with the intro "Funeral" from the Abigail album of '87 which went into "Arrival" of that album. King came out and had a knife at the throat and mouth of the baby that was Abigail saying... Quote:
They did play "Halloween" and "Evil" and some from "The puppet Master" of which I really wasn't familiar. I have to admit that outside of "Abigail" "Them" "Conspiracy" and "Fatal Portrait" I really don't know the lyrics of songs of King Diamond. I wish he would've played more songs off "In the Shadows" as that is my fave album outside of "Abigail." "The Bell Witch" would've been perfect. Being that it was the last show of the tour I was disappointed that they only played for 90 minutes. The crowd was ready for atleast another hour. Miriam Natias came out on stage for "Behemoth" and "Black Dahlia Murder" and Grandma came out on stage for "Nile" which was something they didn't do for the rest of the tour... not in Orlando anyways. That was pretty cool though. I have to say that in his earlier years he had more intense shows like burning the portrait of Mellissa. They've all gotten older but at least they didn't puss out like Maiden and Metallica. They stayed true. As a side note King wore a bullet proof vest for both the shows. Probably as a result of what happened to Dimebag... R.I.P. If you didn't see him on this tour you missed out. Anybody see this tour that wants to add their own review I'd like to hear it.

I saw that show in Seattle. Good stuff. Behemoth and King Diamond were the bands I went to see. I like Nile but when it comes to their Live shows it's just a wall of sound. I didn't care much for BDM either, if you listen to their album it sounds pretty weak/unoriginal. Even shitty bands can sound decent live due to everything sounding heavier. King Diamond kicked ass as usual, the theatrics were great. Hopefully Mercyful Fate will get back together and tour, I always liked Fate more than Diamond.
My only gripe was that Behemoth opened, when BDM should have been the obvious opener. Hell Nile should have played before Behemoth. Thankfully Behemoth's setlist was killer.

I saw Diamond back in '95 at the Bayou in Georgetown when he toured with the revamped Mercyful Fate. I and my wife planted ourselves stageside by the monitor mixing console. D came over from time to time as he worked the stage. It was an awesome show and a 95% White crowd. Them niggers don't take kindly to that voodoo music ya know.

Niggers don't like anything that isn't repetitive, sampled, looped or tribal.

I missed him when he came out to Chicago last April. I would have had to take off of work that evening to see him, but I didn't.
The Puppet Master is his best album so far IMO. It's the first album he's done with a second vocalist for some of the songs, and I really like the male/female duet vocalist bands such as Nightwish, Tristania, and Battlelore, so it's cool to see the King continue to improve his craft. I've been a huge KD/MF fan since I was 15, and know all of the words to almost all of his songs. His style is very unique. |
