Richard K. Ruminski, the FBI's assistant special agent in charge of counterterrorism investigations in Chicago, warned the FBI won't tolerate anyone crossing the line from protected free speech to advocating violence.

Ruminski said Tuesday that a couple of Web sites that provide a forum for people to post their comments have been of particular concern since Hale's conviction. Some of the views have been "almost threatening in nature," he said.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Ruminski graduated from Loyola University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He entered on duty with the FBI in 1986 and returned to the Chicago office after completing New Agent training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. While in Chicago, Mr. Ruminski, who speaks fluent Polish, was assigned to investigate both Foreign Counter-intelligence and general criminal matters. He left Chicago in 1997 after being promoted to the position of Supervisory Special Agent in the Domestic Terrorism Unit at FBI Headquarters.
