Firstly, it's obvious that the BNP won several seats in Oldham, but the result was frustrated by fraud. Secondly, the BNP won several more seats in Burnley.
Now, the question is this. Why was the BNP prevented from winning in Oldham, but allowed to win in Burnley? Answer ... Had the BNP gained any Council seats in Oldham, there would have been a series of race riots. Those riots would have resulted in numerous deaths and enormous damage to property. More to the point, it would have sent a wake-up call to whites that could not have been ignored - particularly if the civil authorities lost control and had to call in the military. The BNP were allowed to win in Burnley because their seats there underpin Griffin's position. Had those seats been lost, then Griffin would have fallen. The fact that it encourages whites to think that 'something is being done' is useful, but not the main objective. Now, here's another question. Why should the system go to such lengths to ensure that Griffin remains leader? |
