NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — A judge has tossed out a $380 million lawsuit claiming at least 34 former students of Yeshiva University High School for Boys were abused, some sexually, from 1971 to 1992.
Judge John Koeltl said in a written opinion released Thursday that the statute of limitations had expired.
The lawsuit, filed last summer, claimed administrators ignored complaints of sexual abuse because they feared it would hurt fundraising and the Washington Heights school’s reputation. The suit alleged that rabbis George Finklestein and Macy Gordon repeatedly groped male students and the school ignored their complaints.

Kevin Mulhearn, the plaintiffs’ attorney, said he will appeal, calling the ruling “wrongheaded and a disgrace.” He said the plaintiffs only learned in 2012 that school officials had covered up the abuse. He said his clients did not know the Manhattan school was involved.
