Cool Gagarin ...and Komorov

And, of course my number one Russian space hero Yuri Gagarin the first human to travel to space and back to earth safely

Here he is shown hunting in Russia with buddy and fellow cosmonaut Vlad Komorov (another outstanding cosmonaut) who was literally burned to a crisp on a failed re-entry in 1967

Space exploration is risky business and no matter what your political persuasion you have to admit the astronauts and cosmonauts of the 1960's had huge balls.

What was left of Komarov after his spacecraft smashed back into earth displayed in open casket so Russians ...in particular, space crew ...could fully appreciate the risky nature of the space venture their country was invested in.

Some say Gagarin changed after the death of buddy Komorov and the USSR's subsequent effort to cover up the reasons why it happened.

Yuri Gagarin died soon after Komorov in 1968 while flying a MiG 15 over a small airfield near Moscow, so we never got to know either of these guys in middle and old age where they likely would have told fantastic stories of man's first steps into space and the people who took them.

"I see no god up here ..." Yuri Gagarin to ground control during spaceflight.

На здоровье y'all!
