From the description from the ground the plane experienced something catastrophic on approach causing an explosion.
Sounds like once again one of these poorly made shitboxes fail.
Look at how much it cost to produce one aircraft. The manufacturers are really bending the government over. Using inferior materials and using gook and dot head labor to design and produce these machines.
Notice also how most officers who retire from the military get "defense contractor" jobs.
Ejecting is dangerous and at a min you can dislocate shoulders and break bones.
Plus being in the military I'm sure these pilots and officers don't have much say in the inferior equipment they operate. If they whistle blow, they're toast.

They might have landed hard causing them to get knocked out and therefore drowned is what I think.
