Former Prime Minister Wim Kok has passed away. That his family has announced Saturday night. Kok died in the hospital in Amsterdam of the consequences of a heart condition. He turned 80 years.
For eight years, from 1994 to 2002, Kok, as minister-president, led two Passenger cabinets on behalf of the PvdA. Earlier, Kok was also a twelve-year trade union chair, sixteen-year PvdA leader and five-year minister of finance. After his premiership, Kok held several supervisory directorships.
