BELGRADE, THE HAGUE -- Serbia's authorities today extradited former military leader of Serbs in Bosnia Ratko Mladić to the war crimes court in The Hague.

This was confirmed by Justice Minister Snežana Malović.

Mladić was arrested last week in the north of the country after spending 16 years on the run.

The Hague Tribunal charged him with genocide and war crimes committed during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia.

The 69-year-old retired Bosnian Serb Army (VRS) general was taken from his detention at Belgrade's Special Court at around 17:00 CET on Tuesday, and transported to the Belgrade airport.

The area around the court and the highway route were secured by a large number of armed policemen and their vehicles.

The tribunal confirmed that Mladić arrived late on Tuesday and is now being held at its detention unit.

Mladić will appear before the Hague court within 48 hours of his extradition to enter his plea on the indictment.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Special Court rejected the appeal filed by Ratko Mladić, aimed at preventing his extradition to the Hague Tribunal.

A lawyer representing Mladić argued in the appeal that his client was not medically fit to stand trial.

Also earlier today, Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekarić explained that if a three-member appeals chamber dismissed the appeal, the extradition ruling would become final and would be sent to the justice minister, who has the final say in the matter.

On Friday, the investigative judge at the Belgrade District Court's War Crimes Chamber ruled that all conditions had been fulfilled for Mladić's extradition.

This is the traitor whore Sezana Malovic, 'justice' minister of Serbia.
