A journalist was arrested and will be charged with distribution of child porn after he was caught trading child porn via the Internet, Israel Police said.

The Tel Aviv Police Department said that the 65-year-old journalist of Tel Aviv, was arrested on Tuesday, after police received information about his crimes.

After his arrest, he was detained for questioning while his home and office were searched. Police seized his personal computers and cellphones, which the suspect allegedly used for his illegal activities.

The suspect was brought before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court for a bail hearing, while charges are still pending. In March, a Brooklyn Orthodox Jewish rabbi was arrested after being accused of distribution of child porn, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

Samuel Waldman was arrested after being accused of distributing child pornography. Waldman, 52, a rabbi and a teacher at a girl’s seminary, was arrested by Homeland Security agents this morning at his residence in Brooklyn, New York.

Samuel Waldman’s position of trust in the community, as both a rabbi and a teacher, makes his alleged distribution of child pornography all the more disturbing. As we have said repeatedly, we have zero tolerance for the exploitation of children and we will prosecute and punish those who engage in this conduct,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said.

“Distributing child pornography is a serious crime made all the more disturbing when committed by an individual who has been implicitly entrusted as an educator,” Special Agent-in-Charge James T. Hayes, Jr. said.

According to the allegations in the criminal Complaint filed today in Manhattan federal court, in or about November 2013, Waldman distributed child pornography over the Internet by making available for downloading through file-sharing software multiple videos depicting minors engaged in sexual acts.

Waldman is charged with one count of transporting or distributing child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and a maximum fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense.
