It was interesting that German christian clergy around the time of Charlemagne seem to have believed that 'magic mushrooms' were the forbidden fruit possibly because many of the 'faithful' still enjoyed the vivid experience and feeling of well being psychedelic mushrooms impart and maybe preferred their use over attending church services on Sundays?
