From Wiki on MRSA virus:

"..More U.S. Deaths From MRSA Than AIDS. Oct. 16, 2007 -- It appears that more people in the U.S. now die from the mostly hospital-acquired staph infection MRSA than from AIDS, according to a new report from the CDC. ... That same year, roughly 16,000 people in the U.S. died from AIDS, according to CDC figures.."

MRSA is still an epidemic in hospitals--I remember a Family Law Atty telling me that people die all the time from MRSA, but it is listed as 'respiratory failure', or something else, it really being brought on by MRSA.

I think they don't want people to be horrified when they walk into a hospital, knowing that could (more likely than they realize) happen to them.
