That fad hit when I was in grade school and everyone would try to use their lips like darkies making sounds like attempting to pass gas.
I asked what they were doing and they said they were rapping, I thought it was a joke then listened to some rap. They were right, rappers made mouth noises that did sound like they were breaking wind.
