Default Over 40,000 Immigrants are claiming the Irish Dole

We have been told by our very own politicians that all the thousands of immigrants would all pack up and head home in these tough economic times.

However today's CSO figures clearly show that this is not the case at all.

In fact there are 41,214 immigrants signing on, which equal to 17% of the overall live register figures.

Nearly a Qtr of all the people signing on each week are not Irish!

Clearly we dont know the circumstances of all these 41,000 people, we don't know if they are claiming for children, wives, husbands and so on. But if we take the basic payment of 192 euro per week a rough calculation tells us that we are now paying a minimum of €7,872000 per year. Now this figure rises when you include spouses, children and child benefit payments. Also we have other secondary benefits associated with unemployment such as winter fuel allowance, Christmas bonus.

So even a conservative figure of 10 Million would still be some way off the true cost of the Non Irish Unemployed to the state.

Today the government announced the Irish Economy is about to go into a prolonged 2 year recession, can we really afford to keep paying out this sort of money to people who have no ties to this country?

With a budget coming up and the likely hood of tax increases for those who are lucky enough to have jobs, would 10 million be better spent elsewhere?
