Steve B: Rob knows what he's talking about for sure. One of the main tenets of yoga is that keeping the spine supple retards the aging process. I would recommend a swiss ball, aka fitness or stability ball.

Hundreds of different exercises you can do with that that are great for core strength. Bending over backwards on it - bridges - for a few minutes a day is great for your back: really increases flexibility and decompresses those discs. I use one instead of a chair in front of the computer: works those stabilizer muscles.

it does wonders for me. About the only time I watch tv is when I'm on that thing. It's not cheap, but it will open up your hips, without which you won't achieve real flexibility.
