Abdominal muscles indeed bring the spine into its intended position. But, that is the fraction of a procedure for compensating a slipped disk. Swimming is beneficial, as well as the strengthening of other muscles. A competent physio-therapist can help prevent a second disk slip. Chemicals suck. They help relax muscles. But, muscles will relax themselves, when the spine returns to its original alignment. A pinched nerve, between disks, will cause muscle tension of which quacks prefer to treat with injected chemicals which endanger liver and kidneys
