Report by Rudaw TV “Qamishli hosted talks between the self-government administration, Moscow and Damascus on the future of Syrian Kurdistan.”

26 October 2017 - 16:36

We have taken notice of the October 19 report by the Kurdish Rudaw TV: “Qamishli hosted talks between the self-government administration, Moscow and Damascus on the future of Syrian Kurdistan.” Quoting some anonymous sources, the author of the report said that Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov visited the Syrian city of Qamishli on October 18 ostensibly for talks with the Syrian Democratic Forces on the issue of Syrian Kurds.

We have to state with regret that rushing for sensations, the fans of the conspiracy theory again forgot to double-check the information of the anonymous source on more reliable resources, for instance the Foreign Ministry website that regularly publishes reports on meetings of deputy foreign ministers. For example, on October 18, Mr Bogdanov had a meeting with Qatari Ambassador to Russia Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, Iraqi Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser Faleh al-Fayad, a delegation of Lebanon’s Progressive Socialist Party led by Taymour Jumblatt and Saudi Ambassador to Russia Ibrahim Al Rassi. All meetings took place in Moscow. Mr Bogdanov visited Qamishli only once, in 1985, when he served as the First Secretary of the Soviet Embassy in the Syrian Arab Republic.
