Two books that is worth reading are A Child of Hitler: Germany in the Days When God Wore a Swastika and The Burden of Hitler's Legacy by Alfons Heck, an ex German member of the Hitler Youth.

There is quite a few books done by people who lived between 1933-1945 (and also from the early 1920's when the NSDAP was gaining popularity), just avoid the ones who talk about 'escaping' and that lot of bs normally done by a Jew or Mischling.
