Acting governor of Santa Catarina, Daniela Reinehr (without a party) hesitated when asked by a journalist about her father’s past

Her father’s past entered the agenda of the week of the current interim governor of Santa Catarina, Daniela Reinehr (without a party), causing her to issue a press release on Thursday (10/29), claiming to be “contrary to Nazism “.

The position came after the governor refused to respond to a journalist on Tuesday (27/10), if she agreed with the view of her father, Altair Reinehr, a retired professor who had been a collaborator with a publishing company specializing in anti-Semitic content that denied the holocaust and other crimes of Nazi Germany.

It was the first press conference given by Daniela, who had just taken over the government after the Special Judgment Court dismissed Governor Carlos Moisés (PSL) for up to 180 days, so that he can answer for a crime of responsibility in the case of salary readjustments for state prosecutors. State. Listed in the same process, Daniela was acquitted.

Altair is known in Maravilha, a small municipality in the far west of Santa Catarina, for defending Nazi ideas. He also defended in court the director of the publishing house Review, which published anti-Semitic books in the 1980s and 1990s.

Until he retired in 1998, Altair Reinehr taught history to children at the state school Nossa Senhora da Salete, in Maravilha, a city with 26,000 inhabitants in Santa Catarina, where he indicated to his students books of anti-Semitic content from the publishing house Review, points out the doctor anthropologist at Unicamp, Adriana Dias, who has been researching Nazism in Brazil for over 20 years.

“Altair indicated books from the Review Editor in the classroom for children, this is very serious. During my research, I talked to some students who confirmed that the copies were Holocaust denial, something he mentioned in class,” said researcher.

Ex-unionist in the category, Reinehr even worked in organizing strikes by teachers in the 1980s. In 1985, he was president of the Association of Teachers of Marvel. While defending better working conditions for teachers, the Santa Catarina denied crimes from Nazi Germany.

For the history professor, everything was just a “legend” created to hide war crimes from the Allies, according to a text signed by Reinher himself and published in the newspaper A Notícia, in Joinville, in 2005.

The research by anthropologist Adriana Dias shows that Reinehr even collaborated with texts for the publisher, created in 1987 and that belonged to the confessing anti-Semitic Siegfried Ellwanger Castan (1928-2010). The publication of books that claimed that “the German people suffered from the holocaust” resulted in a conviction for the crime of racism in the Rio Grande do Sul Court of Justice. The decision was later confirmed by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), in 2002, when it had great repercussions in the press.

At the STF trial, ministers read excerpts from books by Castan’s publisher, who was also the author of works favorable to the Hitler regime. Minister Maurício Corrêa even quoted the book Jewish or German Holocaust? Behind the Scenes of Lies, where Castan wrote that “the only greedy people in the Great War were in fact the Jews”.

Even so, the father of the interim governor of Santa Catarina considered that there was no evidence of racist speech, as he affirmed in testimony as a witness for Castan’s defense. In the transcript, it is reported that “Altair Reinehr, when questioned, declares to have read all the works described in the initial, stating that he never saw any trace of racism to anyone. He says he never observed any racist conduct by the accused”.

In 1998, the Justice of Rio de Janeiro ordered the collection of books from the publishing house Review at the Bienal do Livro due to the anti-Semitic content. Two years later, Castan’s participation in the Porto Alegre Book Fair also generated protests and a legal dispute.

The successive defeats in the Brazilian Justice, in different instances, generated the prohibition of the anti-Semitic books of the publishing house Revision. But even today it is possible to buy copies on websites of virtual bookstores.

“In 2004, shortly after the trial, I remember that I saw books by the publishing house Review at the newsstand at the airport in Salvador,” says Adriana Dias. “I told the Federal Police, the owner of the bank was arrested, forced to remove the books and pay a fine. They are books with false content about the story and should not be sold, but anyone can find them today in bookstores on the internet, unfortunately . “

Governor changes speech

At a press conference held on Tuesday morning, reporter Fábio Bispo, from The Intercept Brasil, asked interim governor Daniela Reinehr if she agreed “with her father’s neo-Nazi and denialist ideas about the holocaust”.

Daniela avoided answering the question directly and said that “it is up to me, as a daughter, to keep the family relationship in harmony, regardless of differences of thought”.

The case made headlines in several media outlets and also commented on social media, criticizing what they considered a “rag-pass” in Nazi ideas. The negative repercussion made Daniela speak again on Thursday (10/29), this time in a note *, where she says she is “against Nazism, just as I am against any regime, system, conduct or position that goes against rights. security or against people’s lives “.

The BBC News Brasil report questioned the interim governor, through the press office, whether she had read the works of the Revision publisher that her father indicated to the students, but did not get a response until the publication of this article.

‘Brazil has not gone through denazification’, says researcher

The subject of Nazism is not new in Brazil, much less in Santa Catarina. In his research, Dias found 334 Nazi cells active in Brazil, 69 of them in Santa Catarina. The anthropologist says that the election of President Jair Bolsonaro has given even more space to these groups, who claim racial and religious supremacy.

“There are great similarities in the way that Nazism used religion to control the people and how the Bolsonaro government uses churches here. It is undeniable also that many groups and people have lost any modesty in exposing anti-Semitic and prejudiced thoughts. There is greater permissiveness with these acts “, said the researcher.

With 84% of residents declaring themselves white, according to the 2010 Census – the highest percentage in the country – and with a significant share of German descendants living in several cities – parts of Santa Catarina seem to be fertile ground for the circulation of ideals sympathetic to Nazism.

Contacted by BBC News Brasil via whatsapp, Odair Batistello, director of the state school Nossa Senhora da Salete, where Reinehr taught, did not want to give an interview, but sent an audio saying that Professor Reinehr is “one of the school’s icons and that they most identified themselves with the [escola] Salete “.

In Blumenau, a city in the Santa Catarina Valley that is proud of its German origins, one of the candidates for councilor in these elections is Wandercy Pugliesi, a history professor known for having a swastika painted in his home pool and for having named his son Adolf.

For Adriana Dias, the entire country has Nazi cells due to the lack of an adequate disclosure of the crimes committed by the regime led by Hitler.

“Germany went through a process of denazification after the war, but Brazil did not. Here some newspapers spoke well of Nazism until the Vargas government determined a change of position. Then, overnight, Brazilians changed sides. this is why Nazism is severely punished in Germany and here it is something acceptable “, says Dias.

The BBC News Brasil report was unable to contact retired professor Altair Reinehr.

State Governor Daniela Reinehr said she should realign her administration to President Jair Bolsonaro’s government and that she will review decrees on the pandemic, focusing on economic recovery. “My speech has always been about prevention, care, but without harming the economic sector,” he said. “I was never in favor of the generalization of everything closes. I believe that we need to take care of the patients according to the clinical picture of each one.”

*INTEGRATED NOTE OF INTERIM GOVERNOR DANIELA REINEHR:

First of all it is necessary to declare that I am against Nazism, just as I am against any regime, system, conduct or position that goes against individual rights, guarantees of security or against people’s lives, and honestly, I thought I left that of course when I was questioned during a press conference on Tuesday (10/27), regardless of the words used. I can understand the reaction of people to the position they imputed to me, and mainly because it happened unfairly, from an unethical attitude, which presented an edited video, with an altered question. I am a friend of Israel and the Jews, and any contrary statement does not correspond with the truth.

Daniela Cristina Reinehr Interim Governor of the State of Santa Catarina

This Brazilian film was part of my childhood, and of millions of Brazilian children.

This is a commercial by Cremogema, from 1975.

This is one of the Brazilian commercials that spent more time on the air.

Year: 1975

Creation of the jingle: Tavito

Singer: Marya Bravo

Reminds me of the "He likes it! Hey, Mikey!" 'Life' cereal commercial from the early 1970s that aired for 20+ years in the u.s.

Well, I know that these Brazilian women are not exactly white flag activists, but they are here on this thread for my personal work to publicize the Ideal of white beauty.

This Brazilian film from Cremogema, from 1975, was shown until approximately 1987.

I posted on this thread because most of the cast is female.

Comrade Ray, thank you for this beautiful photo from Brazilian TV presenter Ana Hickmann.

She was successful, first, as a model, and it is important to remember that she became one of the main TV presenters in Brazil.

Not all models are successful as presenters or actresses.

Ana is certainly one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen, but I wonder what her political views are, since she's on TV? Probably not like ours, if we go by Gisele Bundchen with the Brazilian Indian cause she donates to, or a leftist politician like Paulinha da Silva. But as you explained to Johan, this thread is more about White women's physical beauty.

Ana and her husband posed alongside Bolsonaro, and she wrote in the photo caption on Instagram:

"Today I had the honor of meeting my President @jairmessiasbolsonaro"

In Brazil this means being right-wing.

An admirer of Ana commented:

''If God is for us, who can be against us?

I am a nationalist, but this topic is about presenting beautiful and pure Brazilian women, regardless of their ideological position, according to the explanation I gave to Johan.

In fact, about 99 percent of women in this thread have no ideological position.

Ana Hickmann would make a great First Lady of Brazil if her husband ever decided to run for President. No way Gisele could be since Tom Brady is a u.s. citizen.

Brazilian businessman Alexandre Correa, husband of Ana Hickmann, is a well-known rightist, and it was he who influenced his wife.

Alexandre Correa shared a post about Bolsonaro's presidential inauguration in Brasília, and added: "Let Gleisi and Maria do Rosário know that if they fly over Brasilia by broom, they will be shot down."

After the controversy, Correa deleted the post.

Gleisi Hoffmann and Maria do Rosário are two leftist Brazilian policies.

That's hilarious.

If Correa was president, he and Ana would be much like Donald and Melania Trump.
