Ah, but don't you know that men only use maps because they are afraid to ask for directions?--said every woman ever.

Default which way ...?

My most recent ex would always call and ask for directions when she was out minus yours truly, it was like a game with us.

I'm very aware of even the most minute details of my physical environment from hunting and fishing all these years (the ocean and the woods can be very unforgiving to the clueless noob) so I suppose that I developed a better sense of direction out of necessity. Of course these days I use electronic navigation aids like GPS etc. but I don't depend on them.

I don't think I've ever really been lost ...haha, aside from the time years ago I got so fucking drunk that I "woke up" in a Chicago hotel bed a few days after hopping the rail from NYC with two women I had met in a club. Blacked out.

One of them turned out to be married to an associate of mine, heh it had interesting consequences.

i ask people stuff all the time. i love playing stupid or helpless. people feel helpful and superior, you add some joy to their lives.

i'll never forget this tall woman from a publication you've heard of was hitting on me when i was at a dc party, asking if i knew what jfk said about dc. of course i did because i know more quotes than anyone alive but i pretended i didnt. i let her have the joy of it. intelligent people just endlessly have to be smarter than anyone else. i would love to say i'm the exception to the rule but uh yeah no

so i played ingenue with dick lol.

life is full amusing moments, if you allow it

i just like maps. i had a map of puerto rico on my wall. puerto rico makes a great map because of its regular shape. and it's utterly useless because you cant get there by land. so the map is a work of art, by G. Station, one of america's top ten no-nonsenseest artists.

i think maps are very evocative, they fire the imagination, just regular maps, not old timey pirate maps. i love to look at them and see...spaces...in between small towns...

if you're like me, you like poking your nose into every little crevice. i dont mean evil. i just like to see and know what's going on.

even with the world googli-unified today as it seems, there are billions of points that no never goes or thinks about... walk down by some giant river at a hidden point, enjoy some echt lewis & clark flavor...that's adventure missouri style, but it's same everywhere

I'm about to do something I don't think I've ever done on VNN Forum...be fair. Ugh! Sounds weird to write that.

I think your 1 in 8 is close to the truth for women. It may even be lower than that.

Here goes fairness: You may not want to read beyond this sentence.

I doubt it is more than 1 in 2/3 with men who can effectively use a map, and even fewer who can navigate without a map. Here in Denver we have it very easy. Sun rises in East, sets in West. But even better, here on the front range, mountains to the West, flat to the East. Also roads, compared to other cities are pretty much East, West grids. (Side note: Downtown Denver deviates from this.)

You couldn't get lost here if you tried. I've talked to men who can and do. I've talked to grown men who truly have no concept of direction, East, West, or otherwise.

There, I have been fair. Strange feeling this.

Mike

Grammar note...I'm a bit vague on capitalization of East, West, North, South...I doubt I got it right.

yeah that's true about SLC too, the mountains provide easy reference points. also, the mormons laid out the city on a numbered grid so it's impossible to be lost, pretty much.

i watch a boatload of Terrance Popp videos, touching on sex and his army experiences, and its interesting how much of his training and he had the whole gamut is based on "land nav" (navigation). so obviously it can be fairly difficult and has to be learned.

it just seems to parallel their mental myopia so far as ideas that it extends to physical space and numbesr. women CANNOT estimate anything. and they simply can't do anything the slightest abstract. like, a man might wing it, knowing he's going somewhere that's a little over 20 miles. and he'll sense when he's more or less close, but women can only really perceive specific signs or businesses or such. the big picture eludes them in ideas, in spacing, in numbering.

i speak generally, there are exceptions. but i've seen this in very high IQ women, so it's clearly a sex-related thing.

it's not capitalized as a direction - aka "head east" but is as a region. but as a matter of fact and practice, people tend not to capitalize them as proper nouns technically should be, except for the South

the South was a country, so it makes sense still to capitalize it, whereas midwest - people dont even mean the same thing, so it just doesn't sound specific enough to capitalize. that's how i rationalize it.

Default Long post, there's a bit about maps in there too though if you hunt and gather

It's an evolution thing, according to what scientists who look at the brain conclude.

I read something about this way back there in relation to a joke someone made about men not being able to find the butter in the fridge but women can't read maps, or something along those lines, in relation to how we evolved.

I like neuroscience, since working with kids who were clearly smart as hell while also having serious neurological probs. How the brain works or evolved, it's interesting.

I don't like it to try to lookz smartz. I like it cuz interesting.

I worked with this Baptist woman who hated any word that was more than two syllables. She didn't care what made the kids the way they were, or what might help them live better lives.

She sat on a kid to get him under control, and she prayed for him nightly. The words in Genesis and Psalms were not too big for her britches, though.

My interest in neurology started with the topic of PANDAS, which I asked a doc about and she (India Indian) guffawed but there are now entire teams who heal kiddos who are afflicted. It's real, the data and kids treated prove that up.

She didn't know what it was. I said, 'Pediatric Autoimmune Disorders Associated with Strep' and I explained the details and she was certain it didn't make sense.

But it does. Encephalitic response in the brain causes damage. Kids treated when they show the signs post-Strep will go on and have a normal life.

I wish I'd gotten somewhere on it back when the kiddo I was working with was little, to point his parents in that direction (speaking of directions).

The kid I'm thinking of, his Dad and I hated the school's 'evaluation' of his child. His Dad was right. I was right. They were wrong. Not wrong that the child was Autistic (a word we should change due to it being made up by Freud, comes from 'auto-erotic' and due to Science we know sexual probs or toilet training have nothing to do with Autism), but wrong that the child was incapable of higher learning.

I had that child speaking French and doing Math three grades ahead of him.
His Dad had him playing music.

The school prior had him sitting in a room screaming, not speaking, for two years.

But they were only going to let him go so far.

That's how they roll.

Denigrating people to fit what keeps the funding going, never going too far into exploration for a real answer.

Thankfully some of the parents who kept on trying got somewhere and I've read what happened with their kids, the difference in their lives. It's awesome.

So it's good to look at what we can find. Big words are good.

Oh, maps.

As for the map thing: it's in the parietal lobe, it ties into that whole thing about spatial awareness. Men evolved to hunt and stalk prey, so navigating longer distances and understanding location was important. Women foraged for food and spotting stuff close by was key, they knew where it was based on 'landmark' and what the area looked like, which men filtered out as unimportant.

Same reason women remember what color shirt they had on when the man proposed but the man has no clue what color, it's got no useful meaning to him.

A 'Miss' Understanding of the Minds that one can use however they like.

Whatever tickles someone's pickles.

I instantly regret that joke, ew. Almost as bad as the bitcoin being compared to a vagina in that other thread.

As for meh: I used to have a big Atlas map in the car pre-sail foams but I always want to know what Highway and which direction am I going on it. Adding landmarks is fine too but in North Dakota every other landmark is a metal grain silo, with 40 miles between them. Not helpful.

If Black men had three dicks, I'm sure some White women would want to be penetrated by all three. Not any of the women here, of course.

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist that.)

'Three Dicks' sounds like the name of an up-and-coming Hip-Hop tour.

Except it would be spelled 'Thr33 Dic$' to be more gangsta-rrific.

There are a few porn sluts who do double or triple anal penetration I've heard. Really sick stuff if you ask me. Dunno how they handle the pain.

My 'local sense' is excellent. Never met anyone who could find his way better than me.
Yes, the brain is a very complex piece of kit; there is so much we still don`t know.
I very much agree with the bit about women`s lack of spatial ability AND the deficiency of East Asians in creative thinking.
(There is MUCH MORE to gender/racial differences than JUST IQ.)

Glad it's almost 7:00 a.m. and I haven't eaten breakfast yet. I would be vomiting it up. I probably won't eat any after reading that.

I will never understand how anybody would want butt sex. I think it would hurt like hell. Frankly just a pain in the ass.

You're skewing a tad faggy there.

We need to allow women to stay indoors, thereby making the public square efficient and pleasant. Maybe we can have an exception to allow women between the ages of 16 and 30 to jog on tuesdays and thursdays.
