The Communist Take-Over in Estonia

“The difference in living standards between the Soviet Union and its neighbouring states (Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) was all too obvious and in order to even out this difference, Moscow made preparations to incorporate those states in the Soviet Empire. The international financial elite gave Stalin a free hand to act. The Baltic states were to have been the Soviet Union’s base for its planned attack against Germany”. (Carl O. The extremist Jews of course played the key role in this action. A certain part of the Jewish population in the Baltic states had been prepared for the take-over for a long time. In Moscow, the preparations were finished as early as in 1937, when the Kremlin had the first maps of the Baltic states printed with the names “Latvian SSR” and “Estonian SSR”. Phrase books in the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian languages were printed for the Soviet soldiers in 1940 (just before the occupation).

The preparations also included plans for the deportation of Baltic citizens. Information about this was immediately spread to the international Zionist organisations. Vladimir Jabotinsky (born in Odessa 1880, died in 1940), a well-known Zionist activist who also founded the terror organisation Warriors of Zion, wrote a letter to one of the leading Zionist functionaries in the United States on the 2nd of November 1939. The letter dealt with the treatment of the Palestinians, whom the Zionists wanted to deport from Palestine. There was one very remarkable sentence in the letter concerning plans for a future deportation of the Palestinians: “If it was possible to transfer the Baltic peoples, it is also possible to move the Palestinian Arabs.”

Jabotinsky’s letter is preserved in the Israeli National Archives. (The Washington Post, 7th of February 1988.) The letter was quoted and commented upon by the Jewish nationalist David Ben-Gurion in “War Diary” , Vol. Ill, p. 788.

No ordinary politician had any knowledge whatever of the future Soviet occupation of the Baltic states at this point. Much less could anyone imagine anything as despicable as deporting the original population. A strictly secret decision to deport the anti-Soviet element from the Baltic states was signed by Ivan Serov (who was vice-people’s commissary for security) in Moscow on the 11th of October 1939. The Zionist leader Vladimir Jabotinsky not only knew about this planned crime, but also had a positive attitude towards it. Jabotinsky was not even a Communist -he was a right-wing extremist. Tens of thousands of people were deported to Siberia from the three Baltic states on the night before the 14th of June, 1941.

Over 10,000 were deported from Estonia. The Communists wanted to deport over 700,000 Estonians to leave just 358,000 behind as administrators, but there was not enough time. A new deportation took place in Estonia on the 25th of March 1949, when over 20,000 people were sent away. People were also deported from the other Baltic states in the same year (43,231 from Latvia). 259 Christians were deported from Estonia in 1951.

750,000 Palestinians were driven or frightened out of their homeland on the 2nd of December 1947. The major Arab cities Jaffa and Haifa were completely emptied. Jewish forces forced the Palestinians out of hundreds of villages. In one village, Deir Yassin, 250 people out of 254 were murdered to frighten away the people in the neighbouring villages. 400 Palestinian villages were eventually either emptied or razed. The Israeli historian Benny Morris describes those events in his book “The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem 1947-49″ (Cambridge University Press, 1988). The corresponding documents in the Israeli archives were classified as soon as Morris began publishing this information.

The well-known Zionist author Jon Kimche described in his book “The Seven Fallen Pillars” how General Moshe Dayan shot like a madman at the inhabitants of the town of Lydda on the 11th of July 1948. The 30 000 surviving Arabs took flight. A similar burst of violence occurred in the nearby town of Ramallah on the following day. Kimche made a point of how all the possessions of the Arabs were plundered.

Thus, the deportation of the Palestinians was planned in advance and carried out with barbarously brutal terror, according to a film documentary, which was shown on Swedish television in the autumn of 1993. But there were still 150,000 Palestinians left in the country. Some of them were herded into “reservations”. Israel, in order to gain entrance to the UN, promised to allow the Palestinians to return home, but as usual broke its promise.

Two Jewish cultural organisations, Licht (light) in Tallinn and Schalom Aleichem (Peace be to you) in Tartu, played an important role in the introduction of Bolshevism into Estonia. The same pattern of events was repeated in the other two Baltic states.

Licht was founded in 1926. It was a subversive movement from the very beginning, according to a document (2197-2-3-227) in the Estonian National Archives. The organisation received its instructions primarily from Moscow. Licht co-operated with MOPR or the International Red Aid, a subversive organisation that camouflaged its activities behind aid contributions to various (Red) political prisoners. Licht kept in touch with the Estonian Communist Party’s organisational office, which was in Sweden. Licht also distributed underground Communist literature, (Everything according to the Soviet-Estonian Encyclopaedia, Tallinn, 1972. Vol. 4, p. 432.)

Most of Licht’s approximately 120 members were Zionist Socialists or Communists, who began systematically planning the coup against the Estonian Republic as early as 1936. Many activists (Moisei Pekker, Simon Perlman, Lazar Vseviov, Ksenia Aisenstadt, Leo Aisenstadt, Hans Grabbe, Sosia Schmotkin, Josef Goldman, Viktor Feigin and others) became members of Estonia’s Communist Party (EKP) in 1936. I must point out here that this party had 387 members in 1934, of which only 133 remained in 1939. In the meantime, Stalin had had 254 Estonian Communists murdered. (Vladimir Karassev-Orgussaar, “Molotov, Voroshilov and We”, Stockholm, 1988, p. 115.) Until now it has been concealed how many of the 133 remaining members were Jews, but information from 1945 has been found which puts the number of Jewish members in EKP at 69. (“EKP in Numbers, 1920-1980″, Tallinn, 1983.) This almost certainly means that over half of the Communists in Estonia in 1940 (just before the Communist take-over) were Jews. In 1979, 1131 of the 4966 Jews in Estonia were members of the Communist Party. Compared with other groups, the Jews were very faithful to the Communist Party and were greatly over-represented in its activities, as was also the case in other countries. New Jewish Chekists arrived in Estonia after the Second World War and committed terrible atrocities against the Estonian people. Licht’s chairman in 1938 was called Moses Sachs. He worked closely with other Communists connected with Licht, like Idel Jakobson, Viktor Feigin and Gerschon Zimbalov.

Marxist literature and the newspaper Kommunist were printed in the flat of the bank director Leo Aisenstadt. The printers were Ksenia Aisenstadt and Sosia Schmotkin. The Estonian Security Police, who did not then understand the Zionist connection, could hardly suspect a bank director of something like this.

The leader of the Jewish community, Hirsch Aisenstadt (of the same family) was, according to a formerly secret document, also an agent of the Jewish agency in Estonia. He later joined one of the NKVD extermination battalions under the name Grigori Aisenstadt. He became a victim of the arbitrary punishments in 1949.

After having given Estonia an ultimatum, the Soviet Union began the occupation of that republic on the 17th of June 1940. Estonia’s political and military leadership, headed by President Konstantin Pats and Commander-in-Chief Johan Laidoner (both of whom belonged to a Masonic lodge in Sweden), refused to resist. Coups d’etat were organised to occur simultaneously in the three Baltic states on the 21st of June. Later, a myth was spread that the Baltic peoples had revolted in order to enslave themselves. “A large number of Licht’s members took part in the socialist revolution in 1940,” according to the Soviet-Estonian Encyclopaedia (Tallinn, 1972, Vol. 4, p. 432).

The men who lowered the Estonian flag from the tower of Tall Hermann and raised the Red banner on the 17th of June were the 25-year- old Herman Gutkin, son of a rich Jewish merchant, Heinrich Gutkin, and the merchant Viktor Feigin. (Chicago Tribune, 24th of June 1940.) Both were members of Licht. The correspondent of the Chicago Tribune, Donald Day, had reported events in the Baltic states for 22 years. His impartial reports are very interesting. He related how the extremist Jews, led by Herman Gutkin, marched through Tallinn to the Soviet Embassy, where the Jews tore up the Estonian flag. That event is confirmed by at least one photograph. Donald Day pointed out in his memoirs that the editor had deleted the words “the Jews” from his text as it was printed in the newspaper.

The Red take-over in Estonia’s second largest town, Tartu, was organised by the Jewish cultural organisation Schalom Aleichem together with the Communist Party. The Young Revolutionaries’ Committee was founded on the 22nd of June 1940 by the Jews Selda Pats (actually Zelda Paatz) and Moisei Sverdlov. The same Moisei Sverdlov led the Young Communists in Tartu. (Olaf Kuuli, “The Revolution in Estonia 1940″, Tallinn, 1980, p. 112.) All anti-Estonian activity in Tartu was co-ordinated by Selda Pats and her brother Jaakov Pesah from Schalom Aleichem. The Jews had unlimited freedom in Estonia before the Soviet occupation. They had all kinds of organisations, their own schools and newspapers, within the framework of cultural autonomy. (Judisk Kronika, No. 10, 1986.) There was a professorial chair of Judaic studies at the University of Tartu.

International Jewish circles have later denied all this. Max I. Dimont wrote in his book “Jews, God and History”(New York, 1962, pp. 374- 375) that anti-Semitism was prevalent in the Republic of Estonia and that the Jews were persecuted. He claimed that Estonia had no democracy and that anti-Semitism “became the highest form of statesmanship”. According to him, the Estonians demanded a solution of the Jewish problem. He asserted that “the Jews were legislated out of the professions”. The Estonians supposedly made that “anti-Semitic legislation was increased”. Dimont, however, understood the real situation since he was studying in Finland at the time. Dagens Nyheter’s (a liberal-socialist daily newspaper) Osmo Vatanen has helped to spread these myths. He claimed that the Jews could not find work in Estonia before 1940. (Postimees, 21st of February, 1992.)

What was it really like? There were only 4,434 Jews in Estonia in 1934. According to the history professor Hain Rebas, Estonia opened its borders to Austrian Jews. Yet a small number of Jews owned 11 per cent of the industry and controlled a still larger part. (E. Martinson, “Profession - Treachery”, Tallinn, 1970, p. 22.) Over half of the shops in Tallinn’s Old Town were owned by Jews. The wealthy merchant Heinrich Gutkin (born in 1879) represented Jewish interests in the Parliament.

Together with Russian Jews, many Estonian Jews began directing the terror against the Estonian people in connection with the Soviet occupation. Hans Grabbe (actually Hasa Hoff), a board member of the Jewish cultural organisation Licht, became one of the NKVD chiefs. He became the worst mass-murderer in the modern history of Estonia. He bore the chief responsibility for all the Communist atrocities and deportations. Hans Grabbe also gave orders for Estonian officers to be executed en masse.

The Jew Idel Jakobson had no reason to hate Estonia. He was a Latvian citizen and arrived from Latvia to bring an end to the Republic of Estonia and introduce the dictatorship of the proletariat (i.e. the extremist Jews). He was caught in an underground printing shop in Tallinn and was tried in 1931. He was never tried after the fall of Communism. He worked from 1940 to 1941 as vice-chief of the investigatory department of the NKVD. He never released his own prisoners. He agitated with Communist propaganda speeches during the time of Estonia’s independence. He introduced various methods of persuasion in the form of uncommonly cruel torture when working as a Chekist. He once seriously injured a young woman with the butt of his rifle during an interrogation. The woman later became a famous author.

In April 1942, Idel Jakobson as chief investigator signed an order for 621 Estonians to be killed in the prison camp of Vostok-Uralsky in Sosva, though no trial had been held or sentence passed. The 93-year-old Jakobson died in November 1996 in Tallinn. He was never arrested for the mass murder of Estonian citizens and other crimes during the Soviet occupation.

Many other Jews had successful careers within the political police, for example the businessman Leo Epstein, the lawyer Josef Markovitsch, the lawyer Kroppman, the photographer Schuras, the businessmen Mirvitz, Gens, Bakszt, Kofkin, Himmelhoch… The Jew Feodotov was chief of the prison department. The Russian Jew Lobonovich became vice-people’s commissary for internal affairs (in practice he led the Commissariat).

The Licht member Viktor Feigin, who was also the leader of the dreaded terror organisation the People’s Home Guard (RO), became director of the central jail in Tallinn. The NKVD commandant Arnold Brenner also gained an evil reputation. Feigin and Brenner had fought together on the side of the Communists in the Spanish Civil War. It was primarily the Jews who used torture. The dentist Budas gained an evil reputation in the town of Kuressaare on the island of Saaremaa. He used to scald his victims’ hands and feet in boiling water so that their swollen skin hung loose like gloves or socks.

The Jewish NKVD doctors A. Tuch and B. Gluckmann, both of whom had connections with Licht, were especially cruel torturers, as was the hunch-backed female prosecutor Stella Schliefstein, who became notorious under the name “The Spider”. She was an expert at torturing her victims by tearing up their arm and leg muscles. (The Estonian weekly newspaper Vaba Eesti Sona, New York, 25th June 1981.)

Hirsch Aisenstadt, who was chairman of the board for Jewish cultural autonomy, admitted that the Jewish Chekists were the worst. (Sirp, 24th of December 1991, Andres Kiing’s article “About the Estonians and Jews in Estonia”.)

Sosia Schmotkin and Leo Aisenstadt also became important Soviet functionaries, according to the Israeli professor Dov Levin. (“Estonian Jews in the USSR, 1941-45″, Yad Vashem Studies, Vol. II, Jerusalem, 1976, p. 277.)

Many Licht members joined the Soviet militia, according to documents I studied in the National Archives in Tallinn in April 1993. Among these were Manne Epstein, Hirsch Kitt, Gerschon Zimbalov and others.

Foreign diplomats and military observers, whose reports related how Estonian Jews suddenly became political commissars for various companies, mayors, aides to people’s commissaries and agents-executioners in the NKVD, have also confirmed that a very large proportion of the extremist Jews actually betrayed the Estonian Republic, which had given them a safe existence through cultural autonomy, and began senselessly murdering and torturing well-inclined Estonians.

Here I may quote a report from the 4th of April 1941, sent from Estonia to the C Bureau of the Swedish Secret Service at the General Staff. This report deals with the political changes, which had occurred in Estonia after the Soviet occupation: “During the reorganisation of the judicial system, persons with a shady past, including many Jews, have been appointed judges… The number of Jews within the NKVD is especially remarkable. It was claimed that nearly all Estonian Jews are either indirectly or directly in the service of the NKVD. The Jews earlier had their own schools. These have now been dissolved and their pupils have been placed as Communist agents in Estonian schools. The Jews have also come to the fore in businesses, banks, etc.” (Dagens Nyheter, 11th of January 1993, B 2.)

The Jews Dr Gens and Leo Aisenstadt were elected representatives of the Soviet-Estonian puppet government in Moscow, according to Dov Levin. The Bolsheviks in the Kremlin could not trust anyone else. The picture was exactly the same in Latvia and Lithuania.

The same story was also repeated later (1948) in the rest of Eastern Europe. Jewish activists led the terror against the “enemies of the people” in their native countries. Here I can mention Foreign Minister Ana Pauker (daughter of Rabbi Zvi Rabinson), Josef Kisinevsky (actually Jakob Brotman), the Minister of the Interior Teohar Georgescu (Burach Tescovich), the chief of the Security Police, General Zamfir (actually Laurian Rechler) in Romania; Jakub Berman as the supreme chief of the Security Police in Poland; Rudolf Slanski (actually Salzmann) and Stefan Reis in Czecho- slovakia; Matyas Rakosi (actually Roth Rosenkrantz), Erno Gero (actually Singer), the freemasons Laszlo Rajk and Zoltan Vas (Weinberger), who were all Soviet citizens, in Hungary. Their primary victims were the representatives and pillars of the sensible societies they sought to destroy.

Why is it that rancorous extremist Jews have always predominated at the head of violent revolutions, coups d’etat, political assassinations and other terrorist activities throughout history? Is this really a coincidence or was it planned that way? My readers must seek the answer to this question themselves.

The shock at seeing the Jews taking the leading role in the introduction of Communism was especially great in Estonia where the 4,434 Estonian Jews had been treated very well. More than 10 million books were destroyed after the Soviet take-over of power in Estonia in 1940, a figure which is never mentioned in the book-burning propaganda. After this, the Communists began spreading their own “truths”.

The terror in Latvia was led by the following Jews: the chairman of the NKVD tribunal was Simon Shustin (who came from Moscow and later emigrated to Israel), Isaac Bucinskis became Latvia’s chief of militia, Alfons Noviks was commissary of internal affairs. The Jewish doctor Moses Zitron became infamous as a torturer in the Daugavpils jail.

In 1991, the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet in Latvia, Anatolis Gorbunovs, condemned the atrocities committed by the Communist Jews in the country. Swedish Television actually reported this. Dagens Nyheter wrote on the 12th of April 1994 that the 86-year-old Alfons Noviks had been arrested and later sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for his war crimcs. He was responsible for the cruel mass deportations of Latvians to Siberia. Many of them did not survive in the punishment camps. Noviks was named chief of the NKVD in Daugavpils in 1940. He fled to the Soviet Union before the German troops marched in, but returned in 1945. He was then named commissary of internal affairs and chief of the NKVD in Latvia. Noviks was accused of genocide, since he had organised the awful reign of terror and many of the executions in Latvia. Novik’s usual method, according to surviving witnesses, was to torture and beat prisoners to squeeze “confessions” out of them. He was now described as “the people’s executioner” in the Latvian newspapers. The case was investigated by a special government commission for the investigation of political crimes committed in Latvia during the years of the occupation. The NKVD began executing Latvian patriots immediately after the Soviet take-over. Lists of 978 such people were discovered after the Bolsheviks’ retreat in July of 1941. A document which the Chekists had not had time to destroy was found. It was an order by Simon Shustin to shoot 74 people, including six women. Quartered bodies of the victims of the Red terror were found buried in the courtyard of the Central Prison in Riga. Simon Shustin had signed this execution order on June 26, 1941 and added the following with red ink: “Considering the public danger they constitute, they should all be shot.” It was no coincidence that he was called “Latvia’s executioner”.

Why were these victims so dangerous? J. Krischmanis had spoken in favour of a free Latvia and Estonia. Viktor Somovits had sung Latvian folk songs. Others had criticised the Soviet regime… Those martyrs had endured torture and indescribable, terrible sufferings before their lives were ended with a pistol shot in the neck. Many bodies had been mutilated beyond recognition.

Is it strange then, considering all those horrible crimes against humanity, that an anti-Semitic attitude surfaced in Latvia, where 95,000 Jews lived? This would have happened in Sweden or any other country as well. There were Jewish, ostensibly non-Communist members of the Latvian Parliament. There was Rabbi Nurok, who was deported to the Soviet Union on the 14th of June 1941. He survived, strangely enough, and later became a member of the Israeli Knesset. (Expressen, 24th of March 1969.) The Jewish terror (Bernson, Gorlitsky and others) against the Lithuanian people was exceptionally cruel. 34,000 women and children disappeared in 1940 alone. I lack the words to describe all those atrocities. The doctor and ex-Communist Joseph Schmollers tried to describe the role of the extremist Jews in the Red terror in his book, “Vorkuta, the Story of a Slave City in the Soviet Arctic” (London, pp. 108-110). There were 250,000 Jews in Lithuania. 70,000 lived in Vilnius. They were ultra-orthodox and therefore eagerly welcomed Communism, which gave them an official pretext to show what they really thought of the Lithuanians. It came as no surprise when the Swedish Jew Mose Apelblat called the new Soviet occupation of Lithuania in 1944 “the Red Army’s liberation” in Dagens Nyheter on the 27th of January 1987. The Lithuanians, if official propaganda is to be believed, killed nearly all the Jews. If this was the case, why were more than 20 per cent of the names in the Kaunas telephone directory still Jewish after the war?

The Jews’ most famous rabbi, Maimonides (Moshe Ben Maimon) was the author of the book “More Nebochim”, a new edition of which was printed in Warsaw in 1872. In this book Maimonides wrote, among other things: “It is undoubtedly the will of Yahweh that all gentiles should be murdered, including small children with their parents and parents’ parents without discrimination. This decree is often found in the Torah.” (Op. cit.. Vol. 1, chapter 54, p. 81b).

Confucius said: “The man of noble mind seeks to achieve the good in others and not their evil. The little-minded man is the reverse of this.” (Confucius, The Analects, 12:16. Translated by W. E. Soothill. London. 1910.) The Jewish Illuminists have always been little-minded men. Our misfortune is a result of this.

Licht began actively persecuting non-Communist “reactionary” Jews The property of non-Socialist organisations was confiscated. Licht tried to ruin the Jewish businessman Salomon Klutschik. The 56-year-old merchant Salomon Epstein also had confrontations with fanatical Marxist Jews. The “progressive” Jews did not allow any company to employ him. The Germans later unlawfully sent him to a concentration camp. It is worth mentioning that at least 14 Estonians dared to defend him. (Eugenia Gurin-Loov, “The Great Holocaust”, Tallinn, 1994, p. 115.) The Germans executed him. The Communist Jews had arrested his son and sent him to Russia.

On the 7th of September 1940, Licht began to publish the weekly newspaper Na Leben (The New Life) for other Estonian Jews. The editor-in-chief was Simon Perlman (born in 1902). Licht, headed by Moisei Scheer and Leo Epstein, decided to close all Jewish organisations, which disturbed the Marxist activities. Their funds and resources were taken over by Licht, according to documents in the Estonian National Archives.

Licht abolished itself in the autumn of 1940. It had served its purpose - the Republic of Estonia had been eliminated. The “revolutionary” Jews later preferred to work behind the scenes.

Hitler’s forces attacked the Soviet Empire on June 22, 1941. A speedy withdrawal of the Red Army from large areas (including the newly acquired Baltic states) was necessary. On the 26th of June 1941, Major General Rakutin, the commander of the NKVD border troops in the Baltic countries, ordered the forming of special extermination battalions, of 320 men each, in compliance with Beria’s decree of the 24th of June 1941.

The terrible suffering which the Estonian people and also “reactionary” Jews and other ethnic groups were subjected to was, of course, organised by Marxist Jews.

Mikhail Pasternak held the supreme command over the extermination battalions. He even had a street in Tallinn named after him. Josef Goldman’s NKVD extermination battalion performed some especially brutal actions in July 1941. Goldman was a member of Licht.

When I compared Licht’s list of members with the names of those in the extermination battalions, I was surprised to see how many Licht members dealt in destruction and murder. They even had plans to poison wells. Here follows a list of the most active criminals: Zemach Delski, Jakob Vigderhaus, Moisei Zimbalov, Refoel Goldmann, Isaak Halupovitsch, Schimon (Semjon) Hoff, Simon Strassman, Abram Vseviov, Isaak Bulkin, Meier Minsker, Isaak Minsker, Gerschon Zimbalov, Moisei Schimsche- levitsch, Leo Epstein, Boruch Schor, Grinstein and others…

Movsa Michelson, chairman of the Jewish cultural organisation in Tartu, admitted the following in an interview in the newspaper Edasi (26th of February 1989): “At the beginning of the war many [Jews] joined the extermination battalions.” The militiaman Gerschon Zimbalov was one of those who joined. The extermination battalions were known for their almost indescribable cruelty and brutality, especially towards women and children. The victims were thrown alive into fires, parts of their bodies were cut off, they were nailed to walls… All this also happened in Soviet Russia. The Red terror ruled Estonia for two months until the 28th of August 1941, when those stormtroops were defeated. They had orders to liquidate everything in their path, to imprison the opponents of the Communist system and to eliminate them on the spot if necessary.

The infamous Boris Friedman and Jershik Schigol terrorised the area near the town of Voru, Jakob Jolanski in Parnu, Shustov and others in Kuressaare.

What sort of things were these violent criminals doing? Here are a few typical, well-documented examples, which have not acquired the anonymity of the great terror waves. Josef Goldman, who commanded one of these extermination battalions, gave orders to the effect that all women and girls found on roads, farms or in fields should first be raped, then have their breasts cut off and finally be burned alive. Men were also treated in a similar manner: first they lost their genitals, then their eyes, after which their stomachs were cut open and they were finally killed as slowly as possible. Being a member of Licht, Comrade Josef Goldman really did represent an exceedingly strange, uncivilised and peculiar “culture”. Twenty men were arrested by the exterminators at the railway station in Viluvere. They were taken to Tallinn where they were interrogated. The Jewish commander of the seventh extermination battalion, L. Rubinov, gave the order to murder these men in the Liiva forest. Before they were killed, they were tied up with barbed wire, which cut through the palms of their hands, and their ears were cut off.

Selma Ratsep in Kudina, the farmer Rudolf Pall near Tartu, Anna Kivimae and her daughters Ulanda and Armilda near Tartu, Lembit Ital in Kuusalu and many others were also murdered by the exterminators, following torture. Anna Kivimae’s head had been crushed, her daughters had been raped, their eyes squeezed out. In western Estonia, August Savir (40 vears old) had his stomach cut up, after which his head was crushed. Three exterminators led by the Jew Leo Epstein stormed the 83-year-old Karolina Muhlbaum’s house in Jarva-Jaani on the 24th of July 1941. Her house was plundered and she was forced to accompany them. Her body was later found by a road leading into Kaagvere. The killers had smashed her face.

The gardener Albert Palu was burned alive in Helme on the 5th of July 1941. Albert Simm and his wife in Puhajoe met the same fate. The 14-year-old Tiit Kartes was arrested in Aseri later on the same day. He was cruelly tortured, after which his genitals were cut off and he was murdered. His body was found in the forest.

The exterminators flayed some of their victims alive, cut off their fingers, tore off their arms. A shepherd boy was torn apart between two cars near Haapsalu. Anette Lenk in Kuressaare was tortured with boiling water. Jewish youths, acting as agents for Moscow, shot passing pedestrians in Tartu from windows. A few of these murderers were caught. They were carying bottles of petrol with which to start fires. Others were carrying poison to poison wells.

The Soviet-Estonian periodical Vikerkaar published an article by the historian Mart Laar (who became Estonia’s right-wing prime minister in the autumn of 1992) in November 1988, under the title “The Time of the Horrors”. The article described the crimes of the extermination battalions. This of course upset the Soviet authorities and they wanted to take Mart Laar to court for spreading false information, since these inhuman acts seemed improbable. Everything was later confirmed by other sources.

Here are just a few examples of the horrible crimes Mart Laar described. The Communists destroyed three Estonian villages and all their inhabitants in an especially cruel manner. The children were nailed up in trees, pregnant women were beaten to death. In the village of Ehavere, babies were affixed to the breasts of their mothers with bayonets. The women’s tongues and breasts were cut off. I later found information about how pigs were sometimes fed with the corpses of Forest Brothers (Estonian guerrilla soldiers).

The Jews Hans Grabbe (Hasa Hoff) and Mikhail Pasternak bore the ultimate responsibility for those atrocious crimes.

The Estonian nation lost 25 per cent of its population (around 250 000) during the first ten years of Soviet occupation. The best educated and most active citizens were the ones to suffer the most. Imagine placing every Estonian - men, women, the aged and children - in a long line and shooting every fourth person. This was what they did to Estonia! Other crimes seem pathetic in comparison. The active role of the extremist Jews was a complete surprise. To the Estonians it felt like a slap in the face.

An Estonian Jew, Joosep Frank, who emigrated to Israel, admitted in the Estonian exile newspaper Meie Elu (Toronto) on the 10th of July 1986 that “the Estonians were never hostile towards the Jews”. The leader of the Estonian Jews, Samuil Lazikin, told the Swedish journalist Jan Lindstrom in 1989: “During the time of the Republic of Estonia, there was no official anti-Semitism whatsoever in Estonia.” Lindstrom wondered “Did the Jews live well in Estonia then?” Lazikin answered: “Naturally, of course!” (Expressen, the 4th of September 1989.)

So it was not a question of revenge. Despite this, all the Jewish employees of certain companies in Tallinn joined the extermination battalions. I can mention the Jewish-owned factory Rauaniit, where every Jew, with the manager Zemach Delski at the head, joined the exterminators. They were not loyal to the Republic of Estonia but to a foreign power.

The Jewess Irina Stelmach admitted in the newspaper Hommikuleht (Tallinn) on the 17th of December 1993 that there were many Jews in the extermination battalions. Soviet-Estonia became the Jews’ promised land, according to Augustina Gerber, the editor-in-chief of the Jewish newspaper Hasahar in Tallinn. Indeed, the Jews became high-ranking chiefs within the Soviet power apparatus in occupied Estonia. They controlled radio (Ado Slutsk), TV, the record industry, scientific development and, of course, the propaganda. The Jewish political scientists Herbert Vainu, Gabriel Hazak and Simon Joffe were the most important radio commentators. The falsification of history was controlled by the Jewish “dictator of history” Herbert-Armin Lebbin, who continued publishing Communist lies about how the Estonians voluntarily joined the Soviet Union and chose the path of progressive socialism in the periodical Aja Pulss (No. 11 and No. 12), as late as June 1988. In 1980 he published the propaganda book “In the Service of Anti-Communism”, the audacity of which exceeded all other books of its kind. The ideology at the universities was under the control of the following Jews: Rem Blum (professor of sociology at the University of Tartu), and Eugenia Gurin-Loov (lecturer in philosophy at the Institute of Education in Tallin).

When a few exiled Estonians were, for the first time to some extent, allowed to tell the Swedish press about the important role the Jews played in the crimes of the extermination battalions, the Jewish lawyer Hans W. Levy from Gothenburg tried to explain that “the words ‘extermination battalion’ are reserved for the Nazi Einsatzkommando groups”. (Svenska Dagbladet, 6th of February 1992.) In all seriousness, he meant that the Jews had never been involved in extermination. Hans Levy is wrong. The Germans never committed any atrocities as widespread and terrible as the ones I have described, when they came to the Baltic states. I need only mention here that Moses Hess saw Communism as the best means by which to spread annihilation.

If we compare testimonies about how the extermination battalions ravaged Estonia with reports from the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel, we can see that the crimes committed by the Zionists of today are of the same nature as those committed during the spread of Communism into the Baltic states in 1940-41. Here are just a few typical headlines from the Swedish press concerning crimes against the Palestinians: “Palestinians Tortured to Death”(Aftonbladet, 9th of February 1988), “Jewish Terror Against Palestinians” (Svenska Dagbladet, 9th of June 1987),“Soldiers Beat 15-Year-Old to Death” (Aftonbladet, 9th of February 1988), “17-Year-Old Shot to Death in Gaza”(Aftonbladet, 10th of January 1988), “Ten Palestinians Burnt to Death” (Aftonbladet, 29th of February 1988), “The Israelis Shot Two Children to Death” (Aftonbladet, 6th of June 1990), “Israeli Massacre in Palestinian Village - Six Villagers Shot Down” (Expressen, 14th of April 1989), “The Soldiers Broke the Prisoner’s Arm” (Expressen, 27th of February 1988), “The Police Shot Straight at the Children” (Expressen, 2nd of April 1989), “Playing Five- Year-Old Shot to Death” (Expressen, 19th of October 1988), “Chemical Warfare Against Palestinians” (Dagens Nyheter, 23rd of March 1988).

That Israeli soldiers break the arms of Palestinian prisoners is no act of individual arbitrariness. The model of this act can be found in the Old Testament, Psalms 10:15-16 and 37:17. The first passage reads: “Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none. The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.”

In February 1988, the 15-year-old schoolboy Iyad Mohammed was dragged out of his home and beaten to death with rifle butts. Witnesses stated that the Israeli soldiers had completely mashed his head. (Svenska Dagbladet, 9th of February 1988.) In the spring of 1988, four Palestinians were forced to lie on the ground while a bulldozer covered them in earth in Kafir near Nablus on the West Bank. Villagers later managed to dig them out alive. (Svenska Dagbladet, 16th of May 1988.)

Representatives of Save the Children have gone so far as to claim that Israeli soldiers shoot at children on purpose. At least 64 children were killed during the first 11 months after the beginning of the intifada {Dagens Nyheter, 8th of December 1988.)

In defence, the Zionists say that they have to shoot at people who throw stones at them. Foreigners (including Muslims) have thrown stones at the police in France and England without getting shot in return. A 23-year-old in Malmo (Sweden) threw a stone at the police in the spring of 1993. The court fined him. (Dagens Nyheter, 30th of October 1993.)

This will have to be enough. The facts clearly show, however, that the Zionist Jews are involved in unusually violent and horrible forms of extermination in their “various projects”. Palestinian houses have been blown up, many villages have been razed. These methods are hardly compatible with the policies of a democratic country. To what purpose did Israel sign the Geneva conventions?

The Israeli weekly newspaper Ha’olam Hazzeh published the 5th of January 1974 Lieutenant Colonel Avidan’s brochure “The Purity of Weapons”. He is also the rabbi of the Central Region Military Command. He instructs the readers in their duty to kill civilians. Soldiers do not only have the right, but even the duty to kill civilians. That is Mitzvah - a good deed for Yahweh.

The Soviet regime in Estonia was weakened considerably in 1988. The struggle for freedom began in earnest. Ideologists and functionaries became desperate - they did not want to lose their privileges as members of the nomenclature (nomenklatura - the Marxist power-elite). At the same time, they wanted to make it impossible for any anti-Semitic attitudes to surface in the country. That was why the KGB planned a punishment operation in Estonia between the 20th and the 26th of November 1988. The planned operation was called The Disobedient. It was to have been led by the KGB Colonel Samuil Mikbailov (actually Samuil Michelson), a Jew born in Parnu, Estonia. He was the chief of the Baltic section of the KGB. (Nadalaleht, 19th of October 1991.)

The Soviet regime in Estonia ended anyway. The country became independent in August 1991. That was a hard fact for the Marxist Jews to swallow. The Jew Yevgeni Kogan was at the head of the so-called Internationalists, who tried to sabotage the independent Estonian develop- ment in any way possible. No measures were taken against him.

The newly founded Jewish cultural organisation in Tallinn began a slander campaign in Sweden to damage the image of Estonia abroad. That was how they rewarded the Estonians who kindly permitted the founding of this new Jewish club of disinformation.

On the 18th of November 1991, a fax about a supposed meeting of Estonian SS men and Jew-killers was sent to the Swedish Committee for Soviet Jews. The meeting was, in actual fact, for Estonian war veterans, former Red Army as well as Wehrmacht soldiers. They had gathered for a reconciliation and to discuss the matter of their pensions and other problems they had in common. But the stupid Swedish minister of foreign aid. Alf Svensson, who had made a fool of himself on a number of previous occasions, swallowed the bait and warned about the danger of fascism in Estonia. The Marxist Jews in Estonia, headed by Gennadi Gramberg, were overjoyed by this contribution to their attempts to regain some of their former privileges. A Latvian Jew, Samuil Zivs, formerly vice-chairman of bar association of the Soviet Union have also spread slander and similar disinformation.

On the 17th of January 1992, the Japanese Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa apologised for his soldiers having used tens of thousands of Korean women as sex-slaves during the Second World War. (Dagens Nyheter, 18th of January 1992.) The Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama also apologised for other war crimes on the 15th of August 1995.1 naively hoped for a similar gesture from the Jews of Estonia. I was wrong. I received quite the opposite. On the 8th of April 1992, the weekly newspaper Eesti Aeg (Tallinn) published a lengthy article where I described the contributions of the two Jewish cultural organisations (Licht and Schalom Aleichem) to the Communist terror in 1940-41. In conclusion, I asked the present Jewish cultural union to distance themselves from those crimes and to apologise to the Estonian people. The fanatical extremist Jews became enraged and counter-attacked. They have definitely refused to apologise. They have demanded that the Estonian people should collectively assume the guilt and responsibility for the crimes, which the German occupational forces committed against Jewish Chekists and terrorists.

The Estonian government did actually apologise to the Jews. Estonia even joined in the shameful decision to abolish the UN resolution, which stamped Zionism as racism. The Jews, in contrast, tried to deny the crimes they committed during the first Soviet occupation. They claimed that the Estonian people bear a collective responsibility for “masses” of Jews having been murdered in the country. The Jews, on the other hand, do not bear collective responsibility for the crimes which “a few Jews perhaps” committed, according to the Marxist Jewess Eugenia Gurin-Loov. (Eesti Maa, 3rd of February 1993.)

Encyclopaedia Judaica claimed in 1971 that 1000 Jews were killed in Estonia. Then Expressen in Sweden published Soviet lies to the effect that 12 000 Jews (an impossible figure) were murdered in Tartu alone, in cluding women and children. (Expressen, 21st of April 1987, p. 9.) But only 200 Jews were murdered in Tartu according to the Israeli information. Most of them were guilty of violent crimes. The Jewess Eugenia Gurin-Loov puts the figure of Jews killed in Tartu at 159. The New York Times published a report of the proceedings with the eye-witness Oskar Art, who had driven the Volvo bus carrying the prisoners to the place of execution. He claims that only 50 Jews were shot in Tartu “but no children”.

Which of these figures seem most likely to be true?

The Germans failed to organise anti-Jewish riots among the Estonians - they did not want to take part, in spite of the terrible crimes Jews had committed against them. No Jew pogroms have ever taken place in Estonia. Even the Jews admit this. There are still Zionists who claim that the Estonians began killing Jews before the German forces arrived. One of these was Salomon Schulman who published his views in Expressen, then the largest daily newspaper in Scandinavia, on the 10th of January 1992. There were fewer than 1000 Jews left in Estonia in the autumn of 1941, according to the Jewish professor Dov Levin (921 according to the German security police chief Martin Sandberger’s report). 3000 had been evacuated to Russia. The Estonian Jews were able to present only 474 names of Jews who were killed. Only 474 Jews had been killed before Estonia was declared “clear of Jews” in January 1942, according to document 180-L, which was used at the Nuremberg trial (Sirp, 24th of December 1991). Eugenia Gurin-Loov presented the names of 929 executed Jews in her book “The Great Holocaust” (Tallinn, 1994). The same propagandist asserted in the periodical Horisont in 1991 that 2000 Estonian Jews had been executed. This figure was actually higher than the total number of Jews in Estonia at the time. One might think that not a single Jew in Estonia was spared. Facts tell a different story.

Valev Uibopuu, a famous Estonian linguist and exiled author in Sweden, confirms that some Estonian Jews, who were quite innocent of thc crimes committed by the Soviet regime, survived the German occupation.

He wrote: “In the early spring of 1943, I sat in a dentist’s chair in Nomme (a suburb of Tallinn). My female dentist was Jewish. It was the last time I saw her, since I left Estonia that summer to escape the ever more troublesome grip of the German occupation. I later heard that my dentist had moved to southern Estonia, where she had continued with her work. She made it through the war alive, i.e., no one informed on her. Her daughter, who was a young student, also survived and is now a doctor in Tartu.” (Estniska Dagbladet, Stockholm, l0th of January 1992.) This report had been written for Sydsvenska Dagbladet, which refused to publish it.

The Soviet propaganda constantly accused the Estonians (collectively) of participating in mass-murders of Jews. Even the exiled Estonian author Andres Kiing was classed as a war criminal, despite the fact that he was not even born at the time of the war. (Dagen, 5th of March 1987.)

Jewish activists continue to commit crimes against Estonia by claiming that the Jews had nothing to do with the Soviet regime. More recently they have admitted that there were a few “solitary” sympathisers among the Jews. This is a true example of Jewish audacity - chutzpah. The Encyclo- paedia Judaica gives an example of this: the son killed his parents and turned to the synagogue fund to request orphan benefits…

There were 4,613 Jews in Estonia in 1989 (there were 5,436 in 1959). Only 8.4 per cent of them spoke Estonian, while 34.5 per cent understood the language. (Aja Pulss, No. 1, 1991.) This is how the Jews show their respect for the Estonian culture!

The truth must eventually come out. Those concealing a crime become accessories. Nevertheless, Jewish activists have done everything in their power to keep the truth about the crimes of the Jewish Marxists against the Estonian people in 1940-41 from coming out. They refuse to reveal how many Estonian Jews worked for the Soviet regime. They still wish to revenge themselves on those who dare to tell the truth.

During the time of the Red terror regime, it was not even permitted to say that life was better in bourgeois Estonia than in the Communist Soviet Union. Oskar Sommer said it anyway. He was sentenced to ten years in a forced labour camp.

The Zionists wish to be spared revealing articles about Jewish crimes in Estonia. Rabbi Leon Mark Perlman even claimed on the 17th of August 1992 in Goteborgs-Posten that “democracy in the Baltic states is threatened” as a result of articles, which reveal the role of the Jews in the Communist terror. That was sheer chutzpah!

At the same time, one can read in newspapers how the Jewish financial world has begun infiltrating the Estonian economy. (Rahva Haal, 16th of July 1993.) The Estonian Prime Minister Mart Laar suddenly became ex-ceedingly co-operative in this respect. The Jews appear to have complete control of the economic and ideological situation in the Baltic states once more. The Latvian capital, Riga, has become the centre of the Jewish financial elite in the Baltic states, according to Eesti Ekspress. (29th of October 1993, A 7.) Thus the Latvians have been placed under guardian-ship in the matter of international affairs that are important also to international Zionism.

A further indication of this situation was the opening of the Masonic lodge Fooniks (Phoenix) in Tallinn in the middle of June 1993. This will be the Zionists’ primary tool in Estonia. The funds to found the lodge camc from Sweden.

There are already representatives of the international Jewish Masonic organisation B’nai B’rith in Estonia. The Jewish lawyer Leon Glickman in Estonia became a member of this organisation in 1989, according to an interview published in Eesti Ekspress. (20th of August 1993.) The ruling circles in Tallinn would like to see Estonia in the EU. They are not interested in the good of the country.

The Communist occupation authorities in Estonia caused enormous damage to the Estonian society. They poisoned both the spiritual and physical environment, destroyed the people’s morals with audacious lies and hypocrisy, damaged the public health with cheap alcohol and inferior food and limited the people’s chances of spiritual development. The Soviet regime damaged Estonia economically too. The occupation cost Estonia 10 billion dollars per year since 1940, according to information, which was made public on Swedish TV on the 5th of July 1991. The other Communist countries were similarly affected, and China, Vietnam, Cuba and a few other remaining Communist states are still suffering under this system.

Mentally retarded children in closed institutions received worse treatment in Estonia than animals did in the West. In 1965, before Western tourists were allowed in Estonia, the Soviet authorities gave orders to round up all the war invalids begging on streets and squares in a single day. The fittest were sent to special concentration camps on the island of Valam, where they were put to work. The others were destroyed.

This is enough. It is impossible to describe all of the Communists’ crimes here. The shadowy financial forces and Jewish Communist leaders refuse to assume guilt or responsibility. Who will bear this guilt then, for all the peoples that were degraded, oppressed and made helpless in the shackles of Communism? The helplessness is due to the fact that the Communist system allows only a specially chosen group of suitable slaves to survive, a group who lacks the insight or judgement to lead the others. When such a badly injured nation slowly, in great disorder and with grave deficiency disorders, once more tries to come to life, it is easy to fool the masses with ostensibly new ideas, fair promises and fantastic restructuring plans (also on the political map), everything under apparently new leaders with a new control apparatus.

The situation is reminiscent of a well-known Hungarian joke: at the end of the Second World War, there was a group of Jews in an air raid shelter in Budapest. They were discussing the situation. When the bombing had ended, they decided to send a Jewish boy outside to find out what the order of society was like, so that they could adapt themselves to suit it from the very beginning. The boy asked: “How will I know?” An older Jew answered: “It is very simple. If young Jews are in power, it is Communism, but if old Jews are in power, then it is capitalism.”

Here it is necessary to quote the Danish Jew Samuel Beskow, who said the following in a public speech on 8 December 1935: “We Jews have taken our place at the centre of society: stock-markets, banks, ministries, newspapers, publishing houses, courts, insurance companies, hospitals and schools. We are everywhere, since it is not just a question of taking possession of the gold in our struggle against the Gentiles.” (Berlingske Tidende, 9th of December, 1935.)

The leading Swedish socialist and Member of Parliament Arthur Engberg stated in the newspaper Arbetet on 12 March 1921: “There is a justification for the claim that the dictatorship of the proletariat in Russia actually means the dictatorship of the Jew over the Russian.” Engberg was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Arbetet in Malmo.

Can the fact that the extremist Jews have not apologised mean that they intend to continue their activities in the future? [...]

What amazes me with situations like these is that the Goyim don't see what's happening to their people on a widespread scale. No retribution for the
atrocities being committed in a variety of ways. Here we have a small, vicious tribe that can inflict damage to our families & future & we're none the wiser. And the incredible fact behind this destruction is that the jews doing this are accomplishing this with miniscule revolutionaries compared to our much larger population.

The fact that a small # of committed Khazars can accomplish these dirty deeds with little to no blowback shows just how disconnected & unfocused we truly are. It all boils down to decades of hardcore dissolution of White values which have led to the present state of where we are today.

The solution? Take all these multiple WN groups & umbrella them as one to better counter their attacks. Small WN groups are weak against a large force; to match them on the battlefield requires a force similar in numbers. To do this, the leaders of these various WN groups need to meet, hash out & diminish their egos & agree on a unified plan for a unified front. One Front to counter the other Front. I offered this to DD a few years ago, but it went nowhere; it appears that these small WN groups prefer to stay put with their current plan with no desire to unify. After all, unifying diminishes their personal goals/agendas & doing such would leave them with diminished glory & an outdated soapbox.

Another necessity for victory is the need to make some serious sacrifices; each & every one of us. If there are no sacrifices, the machine keeps a rollin'. Cut the cable tv, rent instead of mortgage an inflated home, buy local products instead of at mega-corporations, speak truth when in conversations with those less in the know ...

Gotta run, just a few thoughts here...

This is another probable made-up quote in so far as:

A) It isn't in Trotsky's corpus of writings as far as I can see (so unless you've got direct evidence you can't reasonably attribute it to him or it having even been said by a Bolshevik or jew).

B) There are tonnes of these quotations doing the rounds and most date from the same period from the same kinds of anti-Bolshevik publications. Most of them are simply made up and quite a lot of them are contradicted by scholarship in the area and were generally ignored by anti-Semites even in their own time.

Oh wait I've found the source and oh surprise surprise it was a White Russian anti-Bolshevik newspaper who are well-known for being the source of a good portion of made-up quotes that simply dog the jews and bolshevism argument and make those opposed to jews an intellectual laughing stock. A) It is a non-specific reference and is almost uncheckable.

B) It is a quotation of a quotation so unless you can verify the original you shouldn't be using it. As my old dissertation tutor used to say: Go back to the source do not rely on someone else's word or their quotation of it as it may very easily be wrong or misleading.

C) It doesn't matter who quotes or uses something unless you can prove it is authentic then do not use it (particularly if it is something controversial). As otherwise you are engaging in the use of a fallacy of authority.

Arthur Engberg was a very interesting man. He was Church- and School minister in the Socialdemocratic governments in the 1930s.

When he was editor-in-chief for the large Socialdemocratic newspaper Arbetet in the 1920s he wrote the truth about the jews.

In his editorials he said the same things then as Thomson, Frenz, Oliver, Linder and others are saying today.

Quite amazing that only 80 years ago one could read the truth about the jews in the mainstream media and furthermore written by a top member of the establishment.

Although Marx advocated the use of any means, especially including violent revolution, to bring about socialist dictatorship, he suggested ten political goals for developed countries such as the United States. How far has the United States -- traditionally the bastion of freedom, free markets, and private property -- gone down the Marxist road to fulfill these socialist aims? You be the judge. The following are Marx's ten planks from his Communist Manifesto.

1. Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose.
The courts have interpreted the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868) to give the government far more "eminent domain" power than was originally intended, Under the rubric of "eminent domain" and various zoning regulations, land use regulations by the Bureau of Land Managementproperty taxes, and "environmental" excuses, private property rights have become very diluted and private property in landis, vehicles, and other forms are seized almost every day in this country under the "forfeiture" provisions of the RICO statutes and the so-called War on Drugs..




2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
The 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913 (which some scholars maintain was never properly ratified), and various State income taxes, established this major Marxist coup in the United States many decades ago. These taxes continue to drain the lifeblood out of the American economy and greatly reduce the accumulation of desperately needed capital for future growth, business starts, job creation, and salary increases.




3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
Another Marxian attack on private property rights is in the form of Federal & State estate taxes and other inheritance taxes, which have abolished or at least greatly diluted the right of private property owners to determine the disposition and distribution of their estates upon their death. Instead, government bureaucrats get their greedy hands involved .




4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
We call it government seizures, tax liens, "forfeiture" Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process.




5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
The Federal Reserve System, created by the Federal Reserve Act of Congress in 1913, is indeed such a "national bank" and it politically manipulates interest rates and holds a monopoly on legal counterfeiting in the United States. This is exactly what Marx had in mind and completely fulfills this plank, another major socialist objective. Yet, most Americans naively believe the U.S. of A. is far from a Marxist or socialist nation.




6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the state.
In the U.S., communication and transportation are controlled and regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established by the Communications Act of 1934 and the Department of Transportation and the Interstate Commerce Commission (established by Congress in 1887), and the Federal Aviation Administration as well as Executive orders 11490, 10999 -- not to mention various state bureaucracies and regulations. There is also the federal postal monopoly, AMTRAK and CONRAIL -- outright socialist (government-owned) enterprises. Instead of free-market private enteprrise in these important industries, these fields in America are semi-cartelized through the government's regulatory-industiral complex.




7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
While the U.S. does not have vast "collective farms" (which failed so miserably in the Soviet Union), we nevertheless do have a significant degree of government involvement in agriculture in the form of price support subsidies and acreage alotments and land-use controls. The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture. As well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Evironmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.




8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
We call it the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000. And I almost forgot...The Equal Rights Amendment means that women should do all work that men do including the military and since passage it would make women subject to the draft.




9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
We call it the Planning Reorganization Act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136.




10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.
People are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, which train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education" .




So, is the U.S. a "free country" today? Hardly! Not compared to what it once was. Yet, very few Americans today challenge these Marxist institutions, and there are virtually no politicians calling for their repeal or even gradual phase-out.

While the United States of America may still have more freedoms than most other countries, we have nonetheless lost many crucial liberties and have accepted the major socialist attacks on freedom and private property as normal parts of our way of life. The nation, whose founders included such individualists as Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, James Madison, John Adams and Patrick Henry, has gradually turned away from the principles of individual rights, limited constitutional government, private property, and free markets and instead we increasingly have embraced the failed ideas and nostrums of socialism and fascism. We should hang our heads in shame for having allowed this to happen.

But, it is not too late to reverse these pernicious burdens and instead enact pro-freedom reforms to put our nation back on track again. It can be done.

In some ways the Left has a head start over us on the pro-freedom Right. The enemies of American freedom do admittedly dominate the entertainment industry, television news media, and academia -- but we have the tremendous strategic advantage that reality (including man's nature) is on our side; so, unlike the socialists and "liberals" (welfare-state fascists), we are not in the position of having to advocate a system which constantly tries to "make water to go uphill" -- or force human beings into a rigid utopian staitjacket based on the whims of some clique of central planning bureaucrats.

We know that individual freedom for peaceful people within a constitutional republic works in practice; our country's history demonstrates that. The piecemeal abandonment of those principles and institutions which once made America great has proved to be a a dead-end road to failure. That is why I tend to be a long-term optimist even though things often look pretty glum in the meantime. Just as Prohibition was eventually repealed, I feel encouraged that such key statist achievements as the income tax, government schools, fiat money/central banking (the Federal Reserve), "environmentalist" regulations, property forfeiture laws, and other Marxist planks and leftist institutions can be rolled back and repealed altogether, although it may take several decades.


Those who would carry forward the ideas and principles of self-ownership, private property, free markets, laissez faire, the rule of law, and constitutionalism which informed America's founders must become more active on the key ideological battle fronts. We need more influence not just in politics, but in areas of entertainment, academia, journalism, think tanks, churches (we need our own individualist Walter Rauschenbushes), literature, art, and other venues of expression and activism.

Marxism and socialism have proved to be colossal failures all over the world. As Frederic Bastiat wrote in his classic The Law just prior to his death, "let us now try liberty"!

Antony Sutton wrote a great trilogy on how Jewish "capitalists" and the US political elite conspired to facilitate the Russian Rev, and further how the US at the behest of our country's Jewry continued to aid Russia's rapid industrialization under Stalin. Unfortunately the books are out of print and difficult to find although I believe the first one is in the VNN library archives. But it is a great primer on and comprehensive exposure of International Jewry's methods of swindling, hoodwinking and slaughtering their subject goyim.

PS if anyone has the pdf for Sutton's book on Stalin and how we aided his economic development please upload it to the site.

BOLSHEVISM IS JEWISH

THE object of this pamphlet is to prove that Bolshevism is Jewish. Bolshevism represents one of the final stages in the deliberate Jewish programme for World Domination. It is not in the scope of this pamphlet to describe the earlier stages of the programme, in which Liberalism, Masonry and Marxism prepared the ground for Bolshevism; that part of the subject is dealt with in our pamphlet, “The Era of Democracy: the Era of World Ruin,”.

BOLSHEVISM IS NOT COMMUNISM.

Communism is not Bolshevism. In Bolshevik Russia, there is no common ownership of land, goods and money; nor is there equal pay for all. These two utterly impracticable ideals have, under the name Communism, been the means through which the Russian people have been duped into accepting something quite different, i.e., Bolshevism.

Then what is Bolshevism?

It is State Capitalism, run by Jews in the Jewish interests. The Jews being a non-creative and unproductive nation have failed utterly in the grand farce of the Five-Year-Plan, because it was never in them to create but only to exploit what has been created by the work of others; in this case, they tried to create, and of course, failed.

The seemingly strange predilection for Bolshevism which is noticeable in unexpected places in Britain to-day, is explained at once when it is realized that Bolshevism is a Jewish weapon; for the idea of Communism which prepares the “underdog” for Bolshevism, is backed by the Jewish Money Power itself, the existence of which as a political power is now becoming known even to the most unsuspecting Briton.

THE ALLIANCE OF JEWISH FINANCE

AND BOLSHEVISM.


In exposing this alliance, we will quote the Jew Disraeli, in his work of history, “The Life of Lord George Bentinck,” written in 1852, at a time when revolutionary upheavals were convulsing Europe. “The influence of the Jews,” he writes, “may be traced in the last outbreak of the destructive principle in Europe. An insurrection takes place against tradition and aristocracy, against religion and property. Destruction of the Semitic principle, extirpation of the Jewish religion, whether in the Mosaic or the Christian form, the natural equality of men and the abrogation of property are proclaimed by the Secret Societies which form Provisional Governments, and men of Jewish Race are found at the head of every one of them. The people of God co-operate with atheists; the most skilful accumulators of property ally themselves with Communists; the peculiar and chosen Race touch the hand of all the scum and low castes of Europe; and all this because they wish to destroy that ungrateful Christendom which owes to them even its name, and whose tyranny they can no longer endure.”

Surely, no higher authority is possible; what was true in 1852 is true to-day.

WHY RUSSIA WAS CHOSEN.

The first victim was Russia. The reason she was chosen was that she was the only country which defended herself by laws framed to prevent the Jew from contaminating and controlling her. Bolshevism is revenge on the part of the Jewish nation on Russia, actuated by Asiatic hate and tyranny.

The Jews, chose their ground well. The Slav is by nature not individualistic; he is patient, inured to hardship and fatalistic. He accepted the idea of Communism; and he got the fact of Bolshevism. He accepted the idea of equal wages for all and property held in common; and he got a toll of 20 million lives, double the blood-bill of the Great War, as the price of his own starvation and slavery under Jews.

The first direct blow was organized by the Jew Parvus, alias Helphand, in conjunction with the German General Staff; the “Sisson Report,” published by the American Committee on Public Information, 1918, conclusively establishes the connection between the Jew Bankers of Germany and the financing of Lenin and Trotsky for the Revolution. Among other items printed in documents published by the U.S.A. Government, is the following letter:—

Dear Comrade,

The office of the Banking House M. Warburg has opened in accordance with telegram from president of Rheinish-Westphalian Syndicate an account for the undertaking of Comrade Trotsky. The attorney (agent) purchased arms and has organised their transportation and delivery up to Luleo & Varde. Name to the office of Essen & Son in Luleo, receivers, and a person authorised to receive the money demanded by Comrade Trotsky.

(Furstenberg was a Jew and later, under the name Ganetsky became a prominent member of the Soviet Government.)

This proves the Bolshevik connections of the Jew Banker, Max Warburg, brother of Paul Warburg, of Kuhn Loeb & Co., New York, who was the brother-in-law of Jacob Schiff, the head of that all-Jewish firm, who hated Russia so virulently that he would not render the Allies any help in raising loans, until Russia was out of the war.

If any further proof of the interworking of Jewish finance with the Bolsheviks is needed, the case of the Bolshevik non-Jew Krassin (married to a Jewess), can be cited. Krassin had been involved in a revolutionary plot in 1907; he was then employed by Siemens Schuckert which is affiliated to the A.E.G., the big electrical combine, of which the Jew Rathenau was President. In 1909, Krassin became director of the St. Petersburg Branch. In 1917, he was in Stockholm with the Jew Furstenberg (signatory of the letter quoted above) and travelled with him to Berlin, and when the Bolshevik Revolution broke out, he took up his old job with Siemens Schuckert, whilst at the same time, Lenin placed him at the head of five Soviet Government Departments, including transport and food supply. The intermingling of this Soviet official with Jewish financiers outside Russia is thus proved up to the hilt.

So highly did the Soviet Government prize the assistance of Kuhn Loeb & Co., the Jewish Bankers of New York, that they gave royal welcomes to the super-capitalist representatives of that firm when Felix Warburg visited Russia in 1927, and Mrs. Otto Kahn in 1931. The alliance of Jewish Finance with Bolshevism was as complete as it was when Disraeli wrote in 1852, as above quoted.

A significant statement was made by Lord Apsley in the House of Commons on 23rd March, 1938; after pointing out that Russia was now the second greatest gold-exporting country in the world, he went on:—

“The shortage of gold of a few years ago had been overtaken and with the dismissal from office and power of M. Trotsky, who always kept in close co-operation with those who were interested in the production of gold, Russia reversed her policy of keeping her gold-mines out of employment, and became a great producer of gold.”

Who are “those interested in the production of gold”? The answer must be RICH JEW BANKERS. (Trotsky is a Jew, of course.)

Not only was this Bolshevik Jew, then, “in close co-operation” with rich Jews, but he had acted as a brake upon Russian production of gold to maintain the virtual monopoly of production of that metal under their control.

BOLSHEVISM HAS THE SYMPATHY OF JEWRY.

On 4th April, 1919, this was admitted in “The Jewish Chronicle,” which stated, “There is much in the fact of Bolshevism itself, in the fact that so many Jews are Bolshevists, in the fact that the ideals of Bolshevism at many points are consonant with the finest ideals of Judaism.”

Israel Zangwill, in an address praised “the race which has produced a Beaconsfield, a Reading, a Montagu, a Klotz, a Kurt Eisner, a Trotsky.”

THE TREATMENT OF JEWS IN BOLSHEVIK RUSSIA.

In Russia, “anti-semitism” is a crime punishable by death.

On 9th August, 1918, Lenin signed an order of the Council of People's Commissars instructing “all Soviet Deputies to take uncompromising measures to tear the anti-Semitic movement out by the roots. Pogromists and pogrom-agitators are to be placed outside the law.”

All that is because Bolshevism is Jewish.

The Jews, trying to prevent the recognition of this elementary fact, have from time to time published false stories about the hardships endured by the Jews at the hands of the Soviet. Chief Rabbi Gluskin and five other Rabbis, however, denied these tales in an appeal to Jews throughout the world not to support foreign agitation against the Soviet Government of Russia; this appeal was published at Moscow, on 27th February, 1930, and contained the following statements:—“The Soviet Government is the only one conducting an open fight against anti-semitism”; “it abolished the shameful laws which limited Jewish rights.” The reader is reminded of the Christian persecutions in Russia under the Soviet.

Huge areas in the Crimea and Biro Bidjan have been allotted for exclusive settlement by Jews; these new “Homes for the Jews” have been failures, because the Jew cannot work; but, nevertheless, the intention of the Soviet is clear. The Jews have been specially favoured.

1n February, 1932, the Jew I. Montagu spoke in Manchester on “Russia” under the auspices of the “Friends of Soviet Russia.” He stated that the alleged oppression of the Jews there by the Soviet was an offensive lie. The Soviet had liberated all Jews from the disabilities imposed under the Tsar. Again, speaking before the Jewish Literary Society, 14th October, 1934, he said that Jews were given priority in employment on new works in the Soviet Union.

THE MARK OF THE BEAST.

Every Russian soldier under the Soviet, bears upon his cap the Jewish symbol of control, the five-pointed star. The same emblem has now replaced the double-headed eagles on the pinnacles of the towers of the Kremlin at Moscow.

THE JEWS OF THE SOVIET GOVERNMENT.

The Secret Council of War of the Bolsheviks, October 1917, consisted of seven Jews and five others, and the Jew Sverdlov presided over it. The “others” included Lenin, whose origin is doubtful although Russian authorities consider him to be a Jew.

Among the best-known Jews of the Soviet Government were Sverdlov, Trotsky, Kamenev, Sokolnikoff, Uritsky, Litvinoff, Zinoviev, Radek and Kaganovitch. Stalin's wife is a Jewess.

In no Department of Government was the proportion of Jews less than 76 per cent., and generally it was much more. This state of things has continued until 1938; Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Commerce, Traffic Control, Food (i.e., the absence of it), and Finance, were entirely under Jewish mis-management. At the time of writing (Feb. 1939) it is evident that a gradual change is taking place; a large number of Jewish officials have been “liquidated” (executed) and the situation is obscure; the Jew Litvinoff remains at the Foreign Office and the Jew Kaganovitch (Stalin's father-in-law) at Stalin's right-hand. Meanwhile it is obvious that the Red Army has deteriorate to the extent that it can no longer be regarded seriously as a fighting-force. However, there are plenty of Jewish officials working up front below.

The representatives of the Soviet Government abroad are always Jews; we in Britain have been treated to a succession of these Jews, and at the time of writing the Soviet Ambassador is the Jew Maiski. (1939).

As the Daily Telegraph remarked on 9th April, 1937:—“Since M. Litvinoff ousted Chicherin, no Russian has ever held a high post in the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs.” The newspaper seems to he unaware that, according to the late Russian General Netchvolodow, Chicherin's mother was a Jewess!

When the Soviet Government ceases to be Jewish, it will cease to be Bolshevik!

THE CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE.

How is it then, that this plain fact has not been generally known to the British public? Because the Jews have the money to suppress the truth, as they are doing to-day (1939) about Hitler in Germany.

Judge the extent of this power, and the evil of it, froth the following authoritative statements which have passed the Jewish censorship:—

(1) A British Government White Paper, entitled “Russia. No. 1. A Collection of Reports on Bolshevism in Russia,” was published in April, 1919. This contained a Report from M. Oudendyk, the Netherlands Minister at Petrograd during the Bolshevik revolution. This report was dated 6th September, 1918, and was sent by M. Oudendyk to our Minister in Norway, Sir M. Findlay, who passed it on to Mr. Balfour. The report contained these words:—“I consider that the immediate suppression of Bolshevism is the greatest issue now before the world, not even excluding the War, which is still raging, and unless as above stated, Bolshevism is nipped in the bud immediately, it is bound to spread in one form or another over Europe and the whole world, as it is organised and worked by Jews who have no nationality, and whose one object is to destroy for their own ends the existing order of things.” (Our Italics).

So the Foreign Office knew in 1918 that Bolshevism is Jewish; M. Oudendyk at the time of writing his report was acting officially for the protection of British interests, as our own man had been murdered by the Bolsheviks.

But that is not the whole story. There is more.

This White Paper speedily became unobtainable; and an abridged edition wits issued in which the passage above quoted, but very little else, was eliminated from the Netherlands Minister's Report. Photostats of the page in question can be supplied to order from the I.F.L. at 2s. 6d. post free.

(2) The Jew M. Cohen, writing in “The Communist,” Kharkoff, 12th April, 1919:—“Without exaggeration, it may be said that the great Russian revolution was indeed accomplished by the hands of Jews——It is true that there are no Jews in the ranks of the Red Army as far as Privates are concerned, but in the committees and in the Soviet organisations, as Commissars, the Jews are gallantly leading the masses of the Russian proletariat to victory—the symbol of Jewry has become also the symbol of the Russian proletariat which can be seen in the fact of the adoption of the Red five-pointed star, which in former times was the symbol of Zionism and Jewry.”

(3) W. Ramsbotham, writing in “The Morning Post,” 24th Sept., 1919, from Odessa, states:—“Some two hundred Bolshevist Commissaries were tried by Court-martial (by the White Russians, A.S.L.). All of them were Jews.”

(4) Mr. R. Wilton, Russian correspondent of “The Times,” for 17 years, and living in Russia through the revolutionary period, wrote “The Jewish domination is supported by certain Russians. They are all mere screens and dummies behind which the Sverdlovs and the thousand and one Jews of Sovdepia continue their work of destruction.” (The Last Days of the Romanovs, p. 148.)

(5) Quisling, in “Russia and Ourselves,” p. 56, 1931, states “ordinary people in Russia, look upon Jews and Bolshevists as practically synonymous.”

(6) “One of the facts we marked very soon in our adventurous career was the large number of Jews who occupy positions of trust and influence in the Revolutionary Administration.” (Mrs. Philip Snowden in Through Bolshevik Russia, p. 27.)

(7) The “Jewish Chronicle,” 6th January, 1933, p. 19, says:—“Over one-third of the Jews (in Russia) have become officials.”

(8) The following are extracts from an address by Major M. Schuyler on 11th January, 1920 at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, New York City, he having just returned from service in the U.S.A. Army in Siberia, where it was supposed to be assisting the White Russian Admiral Kolchak against the Red Army of Revolution:—“The Government of Russia is almost entirely Jewish, and our U.S.A. Army in Siberia was full of Bolshevist Jews straight from Moscow. They lead entered the U.S. and enlisted in the U.S. Army going to Siberia. General Graves the Commander, had a staff that was almost entirely Jewish.” “Owing to the Bolshevist Jews in our army, all information that should have reached Kolchak went straight to Moscow.” (Major Schuyler was three times Consul-General for the U.S. during the old regime.)

(9) John Pollock says in his The Bolshevik Adventure (Constable, 1919), p. 27: “The Bolsheviks are for the most part not Russians at all, but Jews who had suffered persecution at the hands of the Russian Government.”

p. 104: “By such means (Bolshevism), the Russian nation has been reduced to a condition of complete subservience to the rule of a comparatively small number of men of almost exclusively Jewish extraction; aliens, that is, in blood, in education, in ideals, and supported by alien force. The extent to which this is generally recognized is shown by the common gibe in Petrograd: ‘Are you a Commissar, or do you belong to the orthodox religion?’”

(10) “No less than 82 per cent. of the Bolshevik Commissars were known to be Jews.” (Daily Express correspondent, J. E. Hodgson, in With Denikin's Armies, p. 55.)

(11) “When one lives in contact with the officials who are employed by the Bolshevik Government, a remarkable fact strikes one: they are all, or nearly all, Jews. I am far from being an anti-semite, but I must state what I notice everywhere in Petrograd, in Moscow, in the Provinces, in all the commissariats, in the district offices, at Smolny, in the former ministries, in the soviets, I have met Jews and yet again Jews. The more one studies this second revolution, the more one is convinced that Bolshevism is a Jewish movement . . . “ (L'Enfer Bolchevik à Petrograd, 1919, Paris, by R. BOLSHEVISM WAS JEWISH IN GERMANY.

In the German Marxist Revolutions of 1918, the Jews were the directors and strategists; the Soviet Republic of Munich was led by the Jews Liebknecht, Luxembourg and Eisner; the German Cabinet was dominated by the Jews Haase and Landsberg, assisted by the Jews Kautski, Alzech, Kohn and Hertzfeld, with the Jews Schiffer and Bernstein in charge of Finance, and the Jews Preuss and Freund occupying the Secretariat of the Interior. In Prussia, the Ministry of Justice was all Jewish, headed by Rosenfeld; the Interior and Finance Ministries were held respectively by the Jews Hirsch and Simm. In Saxony, the leading lights of the Government were the Jews Lipinski and Schwartz; in Wurttemberg, the Jews Talheimer and Heimann; in Hesse, the Jew Fulda. The Jew Kurt Eisner boasted that he and ten other Jews had made the revolution; Lowenberg, Rosenfeld, Wollheim, Rothschild, Arnold, Kranold, Rosenhek, Birenbaum, Reis and Kaiser. The chiefs of Police of Berlin, Frankfort, Munich and Essen, and the heads of most of the Soldiers' and Workmen's Councils were Jews.

That is why Hitler cleanses Germany of Jews; but you cannot learn that from our Jew-controlled Press.

BOLSHEVISM WAS JEWISH IN HUNGARY.

The Hungarian Bolshevik Revolution, too, was Jewish. There were only 1½ million Jews in the population of 22 millions, but 18 out of the 26 Commissaries of the Soviet Government in Hungary were Jews. Bela Kun (Cohen) was the Jewish beast who led them.

BOLSHEVISM WAS JEWISH IN CHINA.

The Chinaman is not built for “Communism.” The brigandage which masqueraded under the name of Communism in China, was run from Moscow and the principal agents were the Jews Borodin and Abraham Cohen. Japan will stamp it out; that is why the Jew-run Press of the world does all it can to discredit Japan in the minds of its readers.

BOLSHEVISM IS JEWISH IN SPAIN.

The Spaniard, too, is not built for “Communism.” But the ground for it was prepared under the Republic by the Jews Zamora, Maura and De los Rios, who controlled the Government just as Kerensky, another Jew, prepared the way, financed by Jacob Schiff, head of the Jew banking firm of Kuhn Loeb & Co. of New York, for the Lenin Government in Russia. It was the Jew Bela Kun, already mentioned above in connection with Hungary, that directed the beheading of priests and the raping of young girls in the streets of Madrid; he and other Jews sent from Russia instigated the outrages that made the great patriot General Franco take up arms to save his country's civilisation. The full story will come out when Franco has won all Spain. Hitler, in his speech on 14th September, 1937, said:—“The great Russian Empire fell a victim to a handful of Jews who in Spain are directing the civil war through the Valencia Government usurpers.” Red Spain has been armed by international Jewry, and even the International Brigade Command has been Jewish, General Kleber's real name being Lazar Fekete-Schwartz. A very large proportion of the Brigade itself is Jewish, and the American Hebrew, 7th January, 1938, admits that there were 3,000Jews in it and that one-third of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade on the Madrid front consists of Jews. The Red Government is nicknamed in Spain the “Committee of Wandering Jews.” Finally, the reason why the British reader is hardly ever able to hear a good word about Franco, and why he hears nothing of the Bolshevik bestiality of the Jewish Reds, is itself Jewish; the Jews govern the Press, the ships that Franco bombs are chiefly Jewish, not British, and even our Consuls in Franco's Spain are Jewish as the names connected with the Consular Bag affair indicate. Who stole our culture? Williams S. Lind

Sometime during the last half-century, someone stole our culture. Just 50 years ago, in the 1950s, America was a great place. It was safe. It was decent. Children got good educations in the public schools. Even blue-collar fathers brought home middle-class incomes, so moms could stay home with the kids. Television shows reflected sound, traditional values.

Where did it all go? How did that America become the sleazy, decadent place we live in today – so different that those who grew up prior to the ’60s feel like it’s a foreign country? Did it just “happen”?

It didn’t just “happen.” In fact, a deliberate agenda was followed to steal our culture and leave a new and very different one in its place. The story of how and why is one of the most important parts of our nation’s history – and it is a story almost no one knows. The people behind it wanted it that way.

What happened, in short, is that America’s traditional culture, which had grown up over generations from our Western, Judeo-Christian roots, was swept aside by an ideology. We know that ideology best as “political correctness” or “multi-culturalism.” It really is cultural Marxism, Marxism translated from economic into cultural terms in an effort that goes back not to the 1960s, but to World War I. Incredible as it may seem, just as the old economic Marxism of the Soviet Union has faded away, a new cultural Marxism has become the ruling ideology of America’s elites. The No. 1 goal of that cultural Marxism, since its creation, has been the destruction of Western culture and the Christian religion.


To understand anything, we have to know its history. To understand who stole our culture, we need to take a look at the history of “political correctness.”

Early Marxist theory

Before World War I, Marxist theory said that if Europe ever erupted in war, the working classes in every European country would rise in revolt, overthrow their governments and create a new Communist Europe. But when war broke out in the summer of 1914, that didn’t happen. Instead, the workers in every European country lined up by the millions to fight their country’s enemies. Finally, in 1917, a Communist revolution did occur, in Russia. But attempts to spread that revolution to other countries failed because the workers did not support it.

After World War I ended in 1918, Marxist theorists had to ask themselves the question: What went wrong? As good Marxists, they could not admit Marxist theory had been incorrect. Instead, two leading Marxist intellectuals, Antonio Gramsci in Italy and Georg Lukacs in Hungary (Lukacs was considered the most brilliant Marxist thinker since Marx himself) independently came up with the same answer. They said that Western culture and the Christian religion had so blinded the working class to its true, Marxist class interests, that a Communist revolution was impossible in the West, until both could be destroyed. That objective, established as cultural Marxism’s goal right at the beginning, has never changed.

A new strategy

Gramsci famously laid out a strategy for destroying Christianity and Western culture, one that has proven all too successful. Instead of calling for a Communist revolution up front, as in Russia, he said Marxists in the West should take political power last, after a “long march through the institutions” – the schools, the media, even the churches, every institution that could influence the culture. That “long march through the institutions” is what America has experienced, especially since the 1960s. Fortunately, Mussolini recognized the danger Gramsci posed and jailed him. His influence remained small until the 1960s, when his works, especially the “Prison Notebooks,” were rediscovered.

Georg Lukacs proved more influential. In 1918, he became deputy commissar for culture in the short-lived Bela Kun Bolshevik regime in Hungary. There, asking, “Who will save us from Western civilization?” he instituted what he called “cultural terrorism.” One of its main components was introducing sex education into Hungarian schools. Lukacs realized that if he could destroy the country’s traditional sexual morals, he would have taken a giant step toward destroying its traditional culture and Christian faith.

Far from rallying to Lukacs’ “cultural terrorism,” the Hungarian working class was so outraged by it that when Romania invaded Hungary, the workers would not fight for the Bela Kun government, and it fell. Lukacs disappeared, but not for long. In 1923, he turned up at a “Marxist Study Week” in Germany, a program sponsored by a young Marxist named Felix Weil who had inherited millions. Weil and the others who attended that study week were fascinated by Lukacs’ cultural perspective on Marxism.

The Frankfurt School

Weil responded by using some of his money to set up a new think tank at Frankfurt University in Frankfurt, Germany. Originally it was to be called the “Institute for Marxism.” But the cultural Marxists realized they could be far more effective if they concealed their real nature and objectives. They convinced Weil to give the new institute a neutral-sounding name, the “Institute for Social Research.” Soon known simply as the “Frankfurt School,” the Institute for Social Research would become the place where political correctness, as we now know it, was developed. The basic answer to the question “Who stole our culture?” is the cultural Marxists of the Frankfurt School.

At first, the Institute worked mainly on conventional Marxist issues such as the labor movement. But in 1930, that changed dramatically. That year, the Institute was taken over by a new director, a brilliant young Marxist intellectual named Max Horkheimer. Horkheimer had been strongly influenced by Georg Lukacs. He immediately set to work to turn the Frankfurt School into the place where Lukacs’ pioneering work on cultural Marxism could be developed further into a full-blown ideology.

To that end, he brought some new members into the Frankfurt School. Perhaps the most important was Theodor Adorno, who would become Horkheimer’s most creative collaborator. Other new members included two psychologists, Eric Fromm and Wilhelm Reich, who were noted promoters of feminism and matriarchy, and a young graduate student named Herbert Marcuse.

Advances in cultural Marxism

With the help of this new blood, Horkheimer made three major advances in the development of cultural Marxism. First, he broke with Marx’s view that culture was merely part of society’s “superstructure,” which was determined by economic factors. He said that on the contrary, culture was an independent and very important factor in shaping a society.

Second, again contrary to Marx, he announced that in the future, the working class would not be the agent of revolution. He left open the question of who would play that role – a question Marcuse answered in the 1950s.

Third, Horkheimer and the other Frankfurt School members decided that the key to destroying Western culture was to cross Marx with Freud. They argued that just as workers were oppressed under capitalism, so under Western culture, everyone lived in a constant state of psychological repression. “Liberating” everyone from that repression became one of cultural Marxism’s main goals. Even more important, they realized that psychology offered them a far more powerful tool than philosophy for destroying Western culture: psychological conditioning.

Today, when Hollywood’s cultural Marxists want to “normalize” something like homosexuality (thus “liberating” us from “repression”), they put on television show after television show where the only normal-seeming white male is a homosexual. That is how psychological conditioning works; people absorb the lessons the cultural Marxists want them to learn without even knowing they are being taught.

The Frankfurt School was well on the way to creating political correctness. Then suddenly, fate intervened. In 1933, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power in Germany, where the Frankfurt School was located. Since the Frankfurt School was Marxist, and the Nazis hated Marxism, and since almost all its members were Jewish, it decided to leave Germany. In 1934, the Frankfurt School, including its leading members from Germany, was re-established in New York City with help from Columbia University. Soon, its focus shifted from destroying traditional Western culture in Germany to doing so in the United States. It would prove all too successful.

New developments

Taking advantage of American hospitality, the Frankfurt School soon resumed its intellectual work to create cultural Marxism. To its earlier achievements in Germany, it added these new developments.

Critical Theory

To serve its purpose of “negating” Western culture, the Frankfurt School developed a powerful tool it called “Critical Theory.” What was the theory? The theory was to criticize. By subjecting every traditional institution, starting with family, to endless, unremitting criticism (the Frankfurt School was careful never to define what it was for, only what it was against), it hoped to bring them down. Critical Theory is the basis for the “studies” departments that now inhabit American colleges and universities. Not surprisingly, those departments are the home turf of academic political correctness.

Studies in prejudice

The Frankfurt School sought to define traditional attitudes on every issue as “prejudice” in a series of academic studies that culminated in Adorno’s immensely influential book, “The Authoritarian Personality,” published in 1950. They invented a bogus “F-scale” that purported to tie traditional beliefs on sexual morals, relations between men and women and questions touching on the family to support for fascism. Today, the favorite term the politically correct use for anyone who disagrees with them is “fascist.”

Domination

The Frankfurt School again departed from orthodox Marxism, which argued that all of history was determined by who owned the means of production. Instead, they said history was determined by which groups, defined as men, women, races, religions, etc., had power or “dominance” over other groups. Certain groups, especially white males, were labeled “oppressors,” while other groups were defined as “victims.” Victims were automatically good, oppressors bad, just by what group they came from, regardless of individual behavior.

Though Marxists, the members of the Frankfurt School also drew from Nietzsche (someone else they admired for his defiance of traditional morals was the Marquis de Sade). They incorporated into their cultural Marxism what Nietzsche called the “transvaluation of all values.” What that means, in plain English, is that all the old sins become virtues, and all the old virtues become sins. Homosexuality is a fine and good thing, but anyone who thinks men and women should have different social roles is an evil “fascist.” That is what political correctness now teaches children in public schools all across America. (The Frankfurt School wrote about American public education. It said it did not matter if school children learned any skills or any facts. All that mattered was that they graduate from the schools with the right “attitudes” on certain questions.)

Media and entertainment

Led by Adorno, the Frankfurt School initially opposed the culture industry, which they thought “commodified” culture. Then, they started to listen to Walter Benjamin, a close friend of Horkheimer and Adorno, who argued that cultural Marxism could make powerful use of tools like radio, film and later television to psychologically condition the public. Benjamin’s view prevailed, and Horkheimer and Adorno spent the World War II years in Hollywood. It is no accident that the entertainment industry is now cultural Marxism’s most powerful weapon.

The growth of Marxism in the United States

After World War II and the defeat of the Nazis, Horkheimer, Adorno and most of the other members of the Frankfurt School returned to Germany, where the Institute re-established itself in Frankfurt with the help of the American occupation authorities. Cultural Marxism in time became the unofficial but all-pervasive ideology of the Federal Republic of Germany.

But hell had not forgotten the United States. Herbert Marcuse remained here, and he set about translating the very difficult academic writings of other members of the Frankfurt School into simpler terms Americans could easily grasp. His book “Eros and Civilization” used the Frankfurt School’s crossing of Marx with Freud to argue that if we would only “liberate non-procreative eros” through “polymorphous perversity,” we could create a new paradise where there would be only play and no work. “Eros and Civilization” became one of the main texts of the New Left in the 1960s.

Marcuse also widened the Frankfurt School’s intellectual work. In the early 1930s, Horkheimer had left open the question of who would replace the working class as the agent of Marxist revolution. In the 1950s, Marcuse answered the question, saying it would be a coalition of students, blacks, feminist women and homosexuals – the core of the student rebellion of the 1960s, and the sacred “victims groups” of political correctness today. Marcuse further took one of political correctness’s favorite words, “tolerance,” and gave it a new meaning. He defined “liberating tolerance” as tolerance for all ideas and movements coming from the left, and intolerance for all ideas and movements coming from the right. When you hear the cultural Marxists today call for “tolerance,” they mean Marcuse’s “liberating tolerance” (just as when they call for “diversity,” they mean uniformity of belief in their ideology).

The student rebellion of the 1960s, driven largely by opposition to the draft for the Vietnam War, gave Marcuse a historic opportunity. As perhaps its most famous “guru,” he injected the Frankfurt School’s cultural Marxism into the baby boom generation. Of course, they did not understand what it really was. As was true from the Institute’s beginning, Marcuse and the few other people “in the know” did not advertise that political correctness and multi-culturalism were a form of Marxism. But the effect was devastating: a whole generation of Americans, especially the university-educated elite, absorbed cultural Marxism as their own, accepting a poisonous ideology that sought to destroy America’s traditional culture and Christian faith. That generation, which runs every elite institution in America, now wages a ceaseless war on all traditional beliefs and institutions. They have largely won that war. Most of America’s traditional culture lies in ruins.

A counter-strategy

Now you know who stole our culture. The question is, what are we, as Christians and as cultural conservatives, going to do about it?

We can choose between two strategies. The first is to try to retake the existing institutions – the public schools, the universities, the media, the entertainment industry and most of the mainline churches – from the cultural Marxists. They expect us to try to do that, they are ready for it, and we would find ourselves, with but small voice and few resources compared to theirs, making a frontal assault against prepared defensive positions. Any soldier can tell you what that almost always leads to: defeat.

There is another, more promising strategy. We can separate ourselves and our families from the institutions the cultural Marxists control and build new institutions for ourselves, institutions that reflect and will help us recover our traditional Western culture.

Several years ago, my colleague Paul Weyrich wrote an open letter to the conservative movement suggesting this strategy. While most other conservative (really Republican) leaders demurred, his letter resonated powerfully with grass-roots conservatives. Many of them are already part of a movement to secede from the corrupt, dominant culture and create parallel institutions: the homeschooling movement. Similar movements are beginning to offer sound alternatives in other aspects of life, including movements to promote small, often organic family farms and to develop community markets for those farms’ products. If Brave New World’s motto is “Think globally, act locally,” ours should be “Think locally, act locally.”

Thus, our strategy for undoing what cultural Marxism has done to America has a certain parallel to its own strategy, as Gramsci laid it out so long ago. Gramsci called for Marxists to undertake a “long march through the institutions.” Our counter-strategy would be a long march to create our own institutions. It will not happen quickly, or easily. It will be the work of generations – as was theirs. They were patient, because they knew the “inevitable forces of history” were on their side. Can we not be equally patient, and persevering, knowing that the Maker of history is on ours?

Background to Jewish-Peasant Relations

By the year 1000, Jewish societies had virtually no peasants. Operating ‘higher on the food chain’, they became an integral part of the privileged classes. Even the lower-level jobs many Jews occupied made them far better off than a serf.

Serfdom or partial serfdom existed in Prussia, Austria-Hungary, Poland and Russia. Until the 1880s, most Jews lived where their key social function was to mediate the oppression of the peasants on behalf of Crown and nobility. In Poland and the Pale, writes Shahak, Jews “were employed as the direct supervisors and oppressors of the enserfed peasantry — as bailiffs of whole manors (invested with the landlord’s full coercive powers) or as lessees of particular feudal monopolies such as the corn mill, the liquor still and public house . . . or the bakery, and as collectors of customary feudal dues of all kinds.” Thus Jews were the face of exploitation for the peasantry, as well as the embodiment of the town dweller, there being few others.

It is richly ironic that Jews would play the leading role in Communism. Rabbis were the most loyal and zealous supporters of the powers-that-be, the more reactionary those powers the better. Jews were positioned all the more favourably under strong regimes retaining a feudal character. The development of a national consciousness was to be feared. In sum, the society of classical Judaism found itself in total opposition to the surrounding Gentile society, except the king or king-replacing nobles. The Jews were not persecuted. Au contraire, they were protected by the upper clergy. They were protected by the nobility. Where Jews had problems was with with lower clergy who were close to the peasants, with the peasants themselves and with any rising Gentile middle class resentful of the privileging of alien competitors.

Persecutions were always from below, until the Nazis. Shahak observes that “in all the worst anti-Jewish persecutions, that is, where Jews were killed, the ruling elite — the emperor and the Pope, the king, the higher aristocracy and the upper clergy, as well as the rich bourgeoisie . . . were always on the side of the Jews. . . . [T]he fact remains that they did defend the Jew.” Massacres were a by-product of peasant rebellions. Only if the government were weak and declining would it stand aside and let pogroms happen, as happened if only through incompetence in late Czarist Russia. When strong, the government might intensify legal discrimination, but would not tolerate pogroms.

There are many examples of persecution of Jews by the lower orders that have gone down in Jewish history as officially-sanctioned when nothing could be further from the truth. Revenge attacks for the Black Death were strictly by the lower orders in defiance of the Pope and the whole Catholic Church. As mentioned above, when the Ukrainian nationalist Chmielnicki led Cossacks and serfs against extreme oppression, and tens of thousands of Jews were reportedly killed, Jews would ever after remember and fixate upon the Jewish death toll and attribute the disaster to supposedly-gratuitous anti-Semitism. In fact, insists Shahak, “even more horrible atrocities and ‘counter-terror’ [were committed] by the Polish magnates’ private armies [upon Chmielnicki’s forces].” Unbelievably, any modern-day anti-Israel vote in the UN by the Ukraine is attributed by the Israeli press to the legacy of Chmielnicki.

Continues Shahak, “Everywhere, classical Judaism developed hatred and contempt for agriculture as an occupation and for peasants as a class, even more than for other Gentiles — a hatred of which I know no parallel in other societies. This is immediately apparent to anyone who is familiar with the Yiddish or Hebrew literature of the 19th and 20th centuries.” Many “east-European Jewish socialists . . . were themselves tainted with a ferocious anti-peasant attitude inherited from classical Judaism.” (This perhaps explains why Stalin could rely on Jews like Lazar Kaganovich to impose the Terror Famine on ‘peasants’ in 1932-33.) Thus Jews opposed the Catholic clergy’s promotion of peasant cooperatives. The tradition would persist even into the 1980s in the racist denigration of the Russian people by many a Jewish dissident in the USSR.

It’s worth emphasizing that the king or prince would grant a charter to the Jewish community, giving it autonomy and giving the rabbi the power to dictatorial powers over that community. Rabbis wouldn’t have to pay taxes. The better the relationship between ruler and Jewish authorities, the more tyrannical those authorities would be. No one has heard of the following inquisition because it was conducted by Jews: Pedro I allowed the Jewish authorities of Castile to set up a national inquisition against Jewish religious deviators, a century prior to the more infamous Inquisition.

The 1500s through the 1700s was perhaps the most superstition-ridden era in Judaism’s history. And Polish Jewry was the most fanatical in this regard. ‘Jewish autonomy’ sounds great, but it was deployed to stifle original or innovative thinking, writes Shahak, “to promote the most shameless exploitation of the Jewish poor by the Jewish rich in alliance with the rabbis, and to justify the Jews’ role in the oppression of the peasants in the service of the nobles . . .” In Poland in the 1700s, a chasm of hostility opened up between the Jewish elite (rabbis and the rich) and the Jewish masses. When eastern Poland became part of the Russian Pale, this class conflict between Jewish strata fed the resentment of Jewish revolutionaries. Voilà: the bankruptcy of classical Judaism helped stir the cauldron of revolution.

Jewish Roots for Communism?

The Jewish version of the Enlightenment was called the Haskalah. Its proponents believed there was a need for a top-to-bottom critique of Jewish society. This worthy if halting first step was, by fanaticism, transformed into a stampede toward revolutionary agitation which culminated in Bolshevism. A turning point had occurred, as we have seen, when Ukrainians stoked with what Cantor calls “the ferocious resentment built up in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries against the Jewish agents of the Polish landlords who exploited and oppressed them,” rose up in 1648. Chmielnicki’s pogroms killed upwards of 40,000 Polish Jews, a collective trauma for Jews in what had been a Polish paradise for them for a century and a half.

By 1666, they had found a messiah, ever-so-briefy: Sabbatai Zevi. Cantor writes of how mass hysteria gripped Jewish communities throughout Europe and the Mediterranean as thousands upon thousands prepared for a triumphant return to Zion. Many went so far as to exhume the bodies of dead relatives to take with them, in the expectation of resurrection! As crazed as modern-era fundamentalist Christians awaiting The Rapture, Jewish families lingered pitifully on rooftops with bags packed, awaiting ‘Angel Airlines’ to transport them to Jerusalem. How different was this desperately-intense millennial craziness from the revolutionary fervor that would arise in the Pale two centuries later? “Trotsky’s was the mind of an apocalyptic Cabalistic visionary transformed by modernity into a completely secular and materialist millennial prophet,” suggests Cantor. But Trotsky was merely at the forefront of a veritable phenomenon. Crows Cantor, “The Jews, once emancipated and given the opportunity for mobility were genetically so superior that market capitalism could not accommodate some of this superior species, and . . . [they] reacted to this rebuff by becoming . . . reds.” (my emphases: one wonders how 99 percent of human civilization’s advances managed to occur absent contributions from such genetically-superior beings and remind Cantor that even the 1 percent may not have been worth 73 years of Communism and its attendant catastrophes bored into the heart of the 20th century.)

Young Jewish revolutionaries took to heart what non-Jewish ones turned a blind eye to, that is, Marx’s depiction of money-mania (capitalism) as Jewish, with communism as emancipation from that state of mind. Jews became the most ardent capitalists and anti-capitalists. In fact, concedes Cantor, the data does support the contention that Jews were both capitalists and communists, something that French and German critiques of the Jews pointed out in the 1920s and 1930s, to the scorn of Jewish intellectuals. As for the ‘Jews and Communism’ connection, Jewish apologists and even supposedly-objective historians would rather just sweep the whole thing under the carpet.

But it can’t be done. The Blackwell Companion to Jewish Culture says of Marxism: “There is no precedent for the direct impact that this intellectual edifice has had on world history . . . [Marxism] exercised a powerful hold upon actual and potential followers . . . because it had more in common with the Old Testament-like prophecy than modern social science . . . [Marx’s] tone was one of rage and fury . . . [This dovetailed with] the deep-seated Jewish revulsion of Gentiles . . . Jews would not have had the impression of truly changing their intellectual code in joining the Marxist stream . . . [Jewish Marxists found] themselves mainly in the German and Russian Social Democratic movements, and were even largely instrumental in the formation of these movements. . . . For example, most members of the first Russian revolutionary group, the ‘Emancipation of Labor group’ were Jews . . . [A] large proportion of Jews figure among the founders of the Marxist tradition, and . . . many Jews have found their places, following Marx himself, within the revolutionary movement, in communist parties and Trotskyite groups . . . [Theirs was] a rejection of the world as it existed and the search for a radical-revolutionary solution by destroying the existing world and building a better one in its place. This desire for destruction in turn contributed not a little to fanning the flames of antagonism between the frustrated Jew and the rest of the world.”

Jewish-American writer Diana Trilling would one day ask rhetorically: “[I]s there not . . . a discernable path between Marx’s formulation of a social absolutism and the concentration camp of National Socialism?” Yes, since although the Nazis scorned Communism, they borrowed some of its totalitarian innovations — such as the Gulag slave-labor camp, much studied by Himmler. Indeed, as Jewish-American philosopher Sidney Hook remarked in the year of Kristallnacht (1938), “It was from Stalin that Hitler learned the art of uprooting and wiping out whole groups and classes of innocent citizens” (my emphases). Of course, Stalin’s régime was loyally supported by its bedrock Jewish intelligentsia, bureaucracy and secret police who dutifully carried out such measures. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here.

Clement Greenberg summarizes for us: “Marx and other emancipated Jews tried to hurry the Messiah by looking for him in Gentile history and foreseeing the immanent conversion of the Gentiles — not exactly to Judaism, but to a community to which Jews could assimilate themselves.” It was like a Jewish ‘hostile takeover’ of Gentile history for which Jews could appropriately serve as the avant-garde now that Jewish interests and ideas of Jewish origin were taking precedence over Christian predecessors. Cantor observes that if one rummages through ‘the baggage’ of supposedly-secular Jewish intellectuals and their supposedly-secular perspectives on modernity, one can always root out ‘borrowings from’ or ‘reactions to’ Jewish theology and ethics.

Only radical intellectuals could transmute a specific population’s longing for improvements in conditions into a rejection of the whole socio/political system. Unlike any other strata of humanity, intellectuals harbor grievances of a universal nature, and believe desired changes require restructuring of all of society, placing intellectuals at the top. And of course, this implied an avant-garde of Jewish intellectuals, otherwise what would be the point? (The phenomenon would repeat with the ‘Red-diaper’ Jewish leaders of 1960s protest; not just Vietnam policy had to change, the whole system had to come crashing down.)

In 1903’s Second Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, 26 Marxist organizations were represented by 43 delegates. About half the delegates were Jewish. The Jewish Bund wanted national status for Jews within Russia, but the internationalists Martov (Jewish), Trotsky (Jewish) and Lenin (a quarter Jewish) fought against it, and won. By 1905, “None of the social democratic leaders doubted that the dictatorship of the proletariat would come in due course” (my emphases). Indeed, the Bolsheviks despised the parliamentary system, even while the tentative 1905 revolution gave Russians a parliament of sorts. However, the contemptuous dismissal of the parliamentary principle, when the first shoots of democracy were just beginning to show, was catastrophic for Russian ‘socialism’ and would forever tar the very idea of socialism with that dismissal and its replacement by the dictatorial ways of Communism.

The Schiff Factor, Reviewed

As noted above, one could say that Jewish-American banker Jacob Schiff inaugurated the 20th century’s 1914-1950 civil war in the West by bankrolling the Japanese defeat of the Czar. This was the first victory and a very inspiring one for an Oriental over an Occidental power. And it did have the salutary effect of provoking a near-revolution in Russia, followed by some significant democratic measures. Grant Schiff that much.

But his efforts would drastically would overshoot the mark. Even the Jewish Communal Register of New York City (1917-18) conceded that, “[Schiff] financed the enemies of the autocratic Russia and used his financial influence to keep Russia away from the money market of the United States.” The weakening of the Czarist regime continued, and paved the way for Bolshevism a dozen years later. The advent of Bolshevism would tear apart Europe. How? Via both Bolshevism’s nemesis, Nazism, and Bolshevism’s fruition — after overcoming its nemesis — thereby setting back Western Europe by a generation in the process, and Eastern Europe by two generations.

In World War I, the financially-strapped “[T]sarist Russia was . . . less able to mobilize its forces . . . Recruits were sent into battle without ammunition, adequate clothing, or sufficient food,” writes Lindemann. And Schiff’s financial strangulation of Russia was largely responsible. By starving the Czar of loans, Schiff rendered the Russian army ineffective, dragged out the war and obliged Britain to adopt extreme measures to draw the U.S. into the war by way of an effective substitute for pathetic Russia.

At the same time Schiff was making loans to those who opposed the Czar, including revolutionaries who were desperate to pull Russia out of the war even at great cost. Come the February revolution, Kerensky’s government was so broke on account of the war and its inadequate financing that Kerensky had no alternative but to appease the few British and American banks from whom the Czar did manage to obtain loans by agreeing to continue Russia’s war effort, a disastrous decision that increased popular support for the revolutionary parties.

Later, with Bolshevik Russia out of the war and no more eastern front to siphon off German troops from the western front, it was all the more necessary, if Britain and France were to win or at least not lose the war, to draw the U.S. into the fray. But absent the work of one Fritz Haber, a German Jewish scientist, Germany would have had to sue for peace well before the ‘game-changing’ entry of America into the fray.

The Haber Factor


High-pressure synthesis of ammonia is what Fritz Haber, director of the new Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry in Berlin, initially sought. The aim was to produce fertilizer and increase yields. For this he would co-win a Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1920 along with Carl Bosch who devised the engineering aspects of the process.

But at the outset of World War I, writes Haber’s biographer Dietrich Stoltzenberg, German industry had, at most, six months-worth of ammonia reserves. Ammonia was needed to make nitric acid, a necessary component of explosives. Nitrate reserves had declined precipitously and without another source of supply, further production of explosives would soon cease. The British still ruled the sea lanes, so re-stocking from Chile was a dubious proposition. The impending ammunition shortage meant that Germany would be obliged to seek peace long before November 1918.

By the end of 1914, the Ministry of War was demanding a great expansion in ammonia production via the Haber-Bosch process. Germany wound up producing close to 200,000 tons of nitrogen this way. Absent Haber (and engineer Bosch), Germany would have been obliged to seek peace well before the Russian revolution and the American entry into the war occurred. Insist Medwar and Pyke, “But for him, Germany would almost certainly have lost the First World War within a year.” And that would have transformed the history of the rest of the 20th century — for the better.

Then there was poison gas. The 1907 Hague Convention on War on Land had been ratified by nearly all the states of Europe. It forbade the use of poisonous chemical weapons. France broke this International law in a trivial way, allowing Germany to break it in a substantial way. Yes, the French had experimented with tear gas first, but it was Haber who was responsible for inundating the battlefields of France with poison gas. In the battle of Ypres, 7,000 were poisoned and 350 killed by gas attacks. Haber would open the floodgates.

First came the German Ministry of War’s chemical weapons fund. Stoltzenberg notes that the initiator of this fund was doubtless Haber. He was always pushing for greater cooperation between the military and the scientists, of which there was little pre-war, but which he deemed vital. When it came to developing and testing chemical weapons and gear protecting against gas, Haber interjected himself into discussions, explanations, and negotiations with the military on gas warfare tactics, on production of the chemical weapons, and on every other aspect of the subject from A to Z.

Haber became utterly obsessed. All else in his life was shoved into the background. He ignored his wife and family. He tried to enlist his friends and acquaintances in his chemical-warfare crusade. He set everything aside that was unrelated to his war-work, focusing almost exclusively on chemical warfare. He was living for his profession alone. Stoltzenberg concedes: “He not only pushed forward the research on and development of the chemicals used but also exerted considerable influence on the engineering technology for turning them into weapons and advised on their use in battle.” His devotion to this project was such that his badly-neglected and perhaps disapproving wife committed suicide.

During the spring of 1915, Fritz Haber was pre-occupied 24/7 with preparations for a chlorine attack at Ypres. He would even drop in on the eastern front to prepare gas attacks there too. Stoltzenberg states plainly that “toward the end of 1915 the intensive work directed by Haber . . . made chemical warfare a reality.” Haber did much more than his duty. He became absolutely consumed with developing gas warfare, and wanted to continue even after the war ended. It wasn’t very effective. In fact, gas warfare was of limited tactical or strategic value. Haber was obliged to develop effective gas masks as well. The French even got stepped-up mustard gas onto the battlefield first, so the whole idea backfired on German soldiers.

But poison gas warfare did make World War I an even worse hell for both sides than it already was. “There is no question,” writes Haber’s biographer, “that Fritz Haber was the initiator and organizer of chemical warfare in Germany. He never denied this.” The escalated ghastliness imposed upon soldiering was partly responsible for the very great reluctance of Western nations to go to war against Hitler in the mid-1930s when he could easily have been defeated. More importantly, as above, Haber’s contributions to synthesizing ammonia enabled Germany to carry on past the first Russian revolution of 1917 and past the end of America’s isolationism. Absent Haber, Germany would have been obliged to arrange an armistice with the Czar or Kerensky, and a key plank of the Bolsheviks’ platform would have been pulled out from under it. And most importantly, America would not have become involved. As we shall see, Haber’s prolonging of World War I past early 1917 would constitute the most disastrous intervention by a scientist in world history.

Haber wanted to see even further development of chemical weapons post-war and suggested a new scientific institute to carry out the research. During the 1920s, he helped military leaders keep abreast of new developments in chemical warfare. Never having fought in the war himself, Haber lectured that gas weapons were no more inhumane than bullets and shrapnel. However, the Red Cross’s main objection was that in a combined attack, “incendiary and high-explosive bombs can render ineffective every conceivable protective measure against chemical weapons.” Nonetheless, for several years after the war, he participated in the secret preparation of chemical weapons. Haber was hooked on the inflicting of a very nasty form of death on Germany’s enemies who would then return the favor.

Haber also believed that pest control was a peacetime avenue for continuing his gas research. The February Revolution and Kerensky’s Provisional Government

The February 1917 revolution in Russia was successful in forcing the Czar’s abdication, but the Provisional government could not cope with revolutionary agitation. Vis-à-vis Jews, Kerensky’s government granted them full civic rights, and this was hailed by even the anti-Semitic press. That should have been the end of it for Jews. All the restrictions upon them were lifted. Practically-speaking, there was no reason for Jews to go any further, unless the messianic was more important than the practical.

The February Revolution was the real item. This was the revolution that today’s self-styled Progressives should be hailing. But they ignore it. Shockingly, most are unaware of it. There’s a reason. Writes Solzhenitsyn: “[N]o, the February Revolution was not something the Jews did to the Russians, but rather it was done by the Russians themselves . . . True, there were already many Jews among the intelligentsia by that time, yet that is in no way a basis to call it a Jewish revolution.” As per “main animating forces,” this was a Russian ethnic Revolution.

Solzhenitsyn is only partially sympathetic to the February Revolution given its short-changing and short-circuiting of the grand Russian tradition, so he is not tempted to snatch credit for it from the Jews. It’s unfortunate for Jews that they cannot claim credit here because the February revolution, absent the Soviet sequel, was beneficent, especially toward the Jews. In fact, its first broad legislative act was the repeal of all restrictions based on religion and nationality. It didn’t name Jews as such, but Jews were the most obvious beneficiaries, intentionally so. Did ordinary Russians object? Not a hint of a single pogrom ensued. Four Jewish senators and four deputy ministers were named to Kerensky Government, a promising start for a group so long shut out of power. In fact, a worry arose amongst Jews that that should Provisional government flop, a right-wing coup might ensue and be particularly punitive toward Jews as the February Revolution’s most striking beneficiaries. This was Jewish paradise: gained. Stunningly, though, other Jews would turn this grand victory, largely bestowed upon the Jews by the democratic representatives of the Russian populace, into paradise lost, lost not only to Russia’s Jews but to all Russians.

Solzhenitsyn relates how, during the February-October Kerensky interval, “On the very heights, in the Executive Committee of the Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies, invisibly ruling the country in those months, two leaders distinguished themselves: Nakhamkis-Steklov and Gummer-Sukhanov [N-S and G-S]. On the night of March 1st to March 2nd they dictated to the complacently-blind Provisional Government a program which preemptively destroyed its power for the entire period of its existence.” Solzhenitsyn implies that both N-S and G-S were Jewish. In the greatest irony of the 20th century, ‘“The Jewish society got everything it fought for from the Revolution, and the October Revolution was altogether unnecessary for the Jews, except for a small slice of young cutthroat Jews [such as N-S and G-S], who with their Russian internationalist brothers accumulated an explosive charge of hate for the Russian governing class and burst forth to “deepen the revolution.”’

Solzhenitsyn elaborates: “The February Revolution was carried out by Russian hands and Russian foolishness. Yet at the same time, its ideology was permeated and dominated by the intransigent hostility to the historical Russian state that ordinary Russians didn’t have, but the Jews—had. So the Russian intelligentsia too had adopted this view . . . And so this intransigence overcame moderation.”

Solzhenitsyn continues: “[T]he Executive Committee of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies, which was formed within hours of the Revolution, appears very different [from the ethnic Russian cast of the February Revolution]. This [very un-Russian] Executive Committee was in fact a tough shadow government that deprived the liberal Provisional Government of any real power, while at the same time, it criminally refused to accept responsibility for its power openly. By its ‘Order No. 1,’ the Executive Committee wrested the power of the military and created support for itself in the demoralized garrison of Petrograd. It was precisely this executive Committee, and not the judiciary, not the timber industrialists, not the bankers, which fast-tracked the country to her doom . . . The Executive Committee quite purposely destroyed the army in the middle of a war.” This way the army would pose no threat to the Revolution. But how could the Russian population support a war conducted by an army deliberately rendered terminally dysfunctional? It could not, and Kerensky would pay the price.

Who were these Committee malefactors? “[M]any members of the Committee concealed themselves from the public eye behind pseudonyms: who was ruling Russia? No one knew.” Apart from a dozen soldiers there just for show, “From the other thirty . . . who actually wielded power, more than half were Jewish socialists . . . Less than a quarter were Russians.” So, more than half the behind-the-scenes committee that singlehandedly subverted the government brought to power by the ethnically-Russian-engineered February Revolution were Jews!

The author emphasizes that, “with . . . disdain for the entire Russian historical heritage, all that internationalist ilk — Gummer-Sukhanov and his henchmen from the malicious Executive Committee — steered the February Revolution.” So: leading Jews would be crucial not only to the success of the Bolshevik Revolution in October, but to the Executive Committee’s undermining of the Provisional government, which the Bolsheviks capitalized upon. In fact, it was a Jew named Mark Natanson who was first to voice the idea of dissolving the constituent assembly.

The Russian Nobel Laureate is adamant that, “above . . . all of Russia . . . stood the power of one body—and it was not the Provisional Government. It was the powerful and insular Executive Committee of the Petrograd Soviet, and . . . after June, [its] successor the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (CEC) — it was they who had in fact ruled over Russia.” It was even more riven by factionalism and disagreements over basic policies than was the Provisional Government. “The Presidium of the first All-Russian CEC of the Soviet Workers’ and Socialists’ Deputies (the first governing Soviet body) consisted of nine men. Among them were the Socialist Revolutionaries (SRs) A. Gots and M. Gendelman, the Menshevik, F. Dan, and the member of the Bund, M. Liber . . . The prominent Bolshevik, L. Kamenev, was [a member].” Thus of the nine, five were Jews. Only one was as an ethnic Russian! Others were Georgian, Armenian, or of some other minority. Of the The All-Russian Executive Committee of the Soviet of Peasants’ Deputies, only three members were actual peasants. Seven were Jews.

In other words, the power that would determine Russia’s future had fallen into the hands of ‘foreigners’, foreigners with grudges against Russian society from top to bottom. And in Solzhenitsyn’s view, during the era preceding the revolution, “the restrictions on Jews were nowhere near as oppressive and unreasonable as claimed by Jewish activists . . .” Their grudges were out of all proportion to the injustices inflicted upon them by the old guard, as their revenge on the old guard would likely be.

Because of the above-noted intransigent Jewish hostility toward the Russian state as such, which had infected the Russian intelligentsia as well, the momentum of revolutionary fervor could not be halted. “The favorite slogan of 1917 was ‘Expand the Revolution!’” All socialist parties worked to implement it, even though consolidating the revolution’s gains to that point would have been a safer bet.

Solzhenitsyn reminds us that, “it was Zionism that became the most influential political force in the Jewish milieu,” and this strengthened throughout 1917. Even orthodox movements were more popular than socialist ones. There were 300,000 ‘card-carrying’ Russian Zionists by September.

But this very fact would have a pernicious effect on the West as bad as Communism. Britain by mid-1916 had been in danger of being obliged to sue for peace on German terms. To dissipate that spectre, Britain needed to keep Russia in the war and get the U.S. into the war on Britain’s side. To accomplish the former, Britain was willing to make the Zionist prospect more compelling, which might convert many Jewish revolutionaries to Zionism, puncture revolutionary zeal and keep Russia in the war against Germany. The way to do this, counselled British Zionists, was for Britain to publically declare its intent to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine should Britain win the war and annex Palestine from the Ottoman Empire, a Geman ally. It would be called the Balfour Declaration. It seemed that to win the war would require that Russian Zionists stifle the anti-war Revolution brewing and that American Zionists convert President Wilson from an isolationist to a pro-war stance. It was the latter gambit that succeeded and wound up sufficing to defeat Germany and Turkey, which did transfer Palestine to British authority, a prerequisite for carrying out the Balfour Declaration’s intent.

The premature Bolshevik Uprising of July 3-4 targeted not the “already impotent Provisional Government but the Bolsheviks true competitor — the Executive Committee.” So Jewish was the Committee that the Bolsheviks cynically exploited incipient anti-Semitism by siccing the public on it. Many Jews of the Committee were subsequently named to a commission to officially investigate failed Bolshevik coup. Out of socialist solidarity, no Bolsheviks were punished. This would be the first of several instances of non-Bolshevik Jews deciding to go along with a Bolshevik initiative despite formally belonging to a rival socialist party. Of course, as was the case with every ethnic or religious group in Russia, most Jews were against Bolshevism. “Yet they were debilitated by their socialist views,” in opposing it, observes Solzhenitsyn. In other words, for all the difference it made, most non-Bolshevik revolutionary Jews might as well have been Bolsheviks themselves.

To be as inclusive as possible, Kerensky seconded the catastrophic notion of granting amnesty to Trotsky and Co., which brought Trotsky and his mostly-Jewish fellow revolutionaries back from exile in America. In addition, writes Solzhenitsyn, “two famous trains . . . crossed hostile Germany without hindrance and brought to Russia nearly 200 prominent individuals, 30 in Lenin’s and 160 in Natanson-Martov’s train, with Jews comprising an absolute majority (the lists of passengers of the ‘extraterritorial trains’ were for the first time published by V. Burtsev). They represented almost all Jewish parties, and virtually all of them would play a substantial role in the future events in Russia.”

They were “former emigrants, revolutionaries, and draft escapees — now they were all ‘revolutionary fighters’ and ‘victims of Tsarism’.” Investigation in Canada found that “Trotsky travelled not with flimsy Russian papers, but with a solid American passport, inexplicably granted to him despite his short stay in the USA and with a substantial sum of money, the source of which remained a mystery.” “Among the returnees were the famous V. Volodarsky, M. Uritsky and Yu. Larin . . . author of the ‘War Communism economy’ program.” “Similarly, members of Trotsky’s group . . . the jeweler Melnichansky, the accountant Friman, the tyropgrapher A. Minkin-Menson, and the decorator Gomberg-Zorin . . . respectively [would head] Soviet trade unions, Pravda, the dispatch office of bank notes and securities, and the Petrograd Revolutionary Tribunal.” All these names and the ones that follow were Jewish.

Other returnees of looming importance included, “ . . Doctor of Biology Ivan Zalkind [who] actively participated in the October coup and then in fact ran Trotsky’s People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs. Semyon Kogan-Semkov became the “political commissar of Izhevsk weapons and steel factories” in November 1918; that is, he was in charge of the vindictive actions during suppression of a major uprising of Izhevsk workers known for a toll of victims in the thousands . . . [including] 400 workers . . . gunned down . . . in a single incident.” “Tobinson-Krasnoshchekov later headed the entire Far East as the secretary of the Far East Bureau and the head of local government. Girshfeld-Stahevsky under the pseudonym “Verhovsky” [would command] a squad of German POWs and turncoats. That is, he laid the foundation for the Bolshevik international squads; in 1920 he [would head] clandestine intelligence at the Western front; later in peacetime, he would, on orders of the Cheka Presidium, organize an intelligence network in Western Europe.”

Other Jewish returnees had yet to be Bolshevized: “. . . Yakov Fishman, a member of the Military Revolutionary Committee of the October Coup . . . participat[ed] in the Left Socialist Revolutionary insurrection in July 1918 . . . [He would be posted with] the Military Intelligence Administration of the Red Army.” Returnee Yehim Yarchuk was “. . . an Anarchist Syndicalist . . . [soon] delegated by the Petrograd Soviet to reinforce the Kronstadt Soviet; during the October coup he . . . [would bring] a squad of sailors to Petrograd to storm the Winter Palace.”

As noted above, Kerensky also made the catastrophic decision to continue the war effort so as not to jeopardize bank loans mainly from the U.S. Though Jacob Schiff “provided substantial credit to the Kerensky government,” writes Solzhenitsyn, the damage wrought by his anti-Russian alliance of bankers throughout the war was decisive. By April 1917, “. . . Russian finances . . . were on the brink of total collapse.” Without the prior wartime boycott by Schiff and by a whole slate of other bankers that Schiff had persuaded to not grant loans to imperial Russia, thus all but cutting off the Czar, Kerensky would not have been as beholden to the handful of banks that did support the old regime and might have had the option of taking Russia out of the war. That would have gone a long way toward appeasing the Russian population and taking the wind out of the sails of the revolutionary parties.

Instead, Kerensky’s having allowed the return of Trotsky and Co. would facilitate Lenin’s seizure of power, irrespective of the Bolsheviks’ failure to obtain more than a quarter of the vote in the few elections held early on. Discontent was rife, and Lenin could wait in the wings with a highly-organized resolute alternative to Kerensky’s indecisive and faltering government. So even the Provisional government, let alone the future Bolshevik government, was too internationalist in its focus. In acting to re-animate its fight with Germany and thereby discourage U.S. sources from halting financing contingent on Russia not making a separate peace with Germany, and in appeasing ethnic minorities such as the Jews, Kerensky was insufficiently attentive to the need of the majority.

Continues Solzhenitsyn, “From the first day after the February revolution, central newspapers published enormous numbers of announcements about private meetings, assemblies and sessions of various Jewish parties, initially mostly the bund, and later Pale Zionists, Socialist Zionists, Territorial Zionists, and the Socialist Jewish Workers’ Party (SJWP). Already by March 7th we read about an oncoming assembly of the All-Russian Jewish Congress.” Obviously most of the organizing of all that must have occurred while Jews were still under the supposed iron fist of the Czar. Moreover, in 1917 St. Petersburg, “Yiddish papers were started. Schools at all levels were established. Artistic and cultural organizations were founded. Jewish culture had been unleashed . . . These Jewish activities are all the more amazing given the state of general governmental, administrative and cultural confusion in Russia in 1917.”

Obviously Russia’s Jews knew that this was to a significant extent a Judeo-philic government that had taken power. The Bolshevik regime, only several months down the road, would solidify that trend. There would be no Jewish pogroms in 1917. There were merely two drunken rampages by revolutionary soldiers in retreat, and store-front damage afflicted Jews more only because they owned more stores.

As for Jacob Schiff, who had bankrolled Jewish revolutionary groups in Russia, he basically lost interest after the Czar was toppled. He then threw in his lot with the Zionists because he feared that Jewish assimilation would follow in the wake of the civic equality now made law in Russia. Had he not anticipated greater assimilation under the revolution’s universalistic rubric? Apparently not. Now Palestine rather than revolutionary socialism should be the vehicle to carry Jewish ideals worldwide. The deadly trajectories of each would overlap and criss-cross in the coming decades, turning Europe and then the Mid-East upside down. As already noted above, Schiff came to personally embody these ‘two worst ideas of the 19th century’.

Naturally, Jews eagerly entered into Russian institutions from which they had previously been excluded, including the military. Following the February revolution, Jews soon made up 40 percent of all top elected officials in the army. The officer corps rather than the ranks of common soldiers is where the Jews of the military would wind up. Solzhenitsyn recounts a striking incident of ethnocentrism among certain Jewish officers: They had their soldiers sing ancient Jewish songs. Solzhenitsyn asks incredulously, “Did they not understand that Russian soldiers would hardly follow such officers?” Separate battalions were organized for most ethnic groups, but Jews insisted upon integration into the army. Complaints about poor acceptance of Jewish army officers were met with a storm of indignation on the part of Jews and the Left. Obviously, with the army being such a key Russian institution, Jews wanted to be in a position of influence, not segregated in an ethnic ghetto. Stunningly, in less than a year a Jew would be stand at the head of the new USSR’s new army.

The Russian paper, On to Moscow, in September, 1919, said:

“It should not be forgotten that the Jewish people, who for centuries were oppressed by kings and czars, are the real proletariat, the real Internationale, which has no country.”

“Out of the economic chaos, the discontent of the Jew evolved organized capital with its working instrumentality, the banking system . . . .

“One of the impressive phenomena of the impressive time is the revolt of the Jew against the Frankenstein which his own mind conceived and his own hand fashioned. . . .

“That achievement (Russian Bolshevik revolution—Ed.), destined to figure in history as the over-shadowing result of the World War, was largely the outcome of Jewish thinking, of Jewish discontent, of Jewish effort to reconstruct . . . .

“What Jewish idealism and Jewish discontent have so powerfully contributed to accomplish in Russia, the same historic qualities of the Jewish mind and heart are tending to promote in other countries . . . .

“Shall America, like the Russia of the Czars, overwhelm the Jew with the bitter and baseless reproach of being a destroyer, and thus put him in the position of an irreconcilable enemy?

“Or shall America avail itself of Jewish genius as it avails itself of the peculiar genius of every other race? . . . .

“That is the question for the American people to answer.”

Lord Eustace Percy who, if one may judge by the full and appreciative quotations of his words in the Jewish press, has the sanction of thinkers among the Jews, settles the first point. Discussing the Jewish tendency to revolutionary movements he says:
