School Investigates Use Of Funds
Principal Resigns

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Jefferson County Public School officials said they've confirmed the questionable use of nearly $66,000 at Dixie Elementary School and are asking the commonwealth's attorney to determine if criminal charges should be filed.

JCPS officials first learned something wasn't adding up at Dixie after an anonymous letter was sent to the superintendent.

At that time, the school's principal, Adrian K. Sanford, was reassigned and the school's bookkeeper, Toneke Bullitt, was suspended.

Auditors said nearly $62,000 of the funds came from a general fund and another $4,000 came from a school activity fund.

District spokeswoman Lauren Roberts said the funds involve payments given to vendors who can be defined as any person, persons or company performing services for the school.

Roberts said some vendors were given contracts for various amounts with no basis for those amounts and that descriptions of services provided by the vendors, and Sanford, did not match.

Furthermore, two of the vendors were Sanford's nephews, some vendors had pending criminal charges and one was a convicted felon.

"These are very, very serious violations," Roberts said. "It's infuriating to us that someone would engage in such a serious breach of trust and abuse of the authority given to them in managing a school."

Did Dixie Principal Adrian Sanford Use The ‘N’ Word?

It’s important to note that the following details are currently being substantiated but we feel that it is important to share this information as soon as possible.

JCPS obviously does not want to push this information out even if their investigation found it to be true.

Dixie Elementary Principal Adrian Sanford is still working for JCPS while he is under investigation for theft of funds. For about $80,000 a year, Sanford is now being trusted with new teacher induction. So, a person that JCPS has to investigate for theft is responsible for training new teachers in the JCPS system. That doesn’t make much sense. Of course, Sanford is currently blaming the bookeeper for all his troubles. How convenient.

However, BGRS has received anonymous tips from people who claim to work at Dixie Elementary that indicate that the issues with Sanford go deeper than just questions surrounding money. Sanford is being accused of threatening teachers in wild mood swings and with charges of racism. One account says that Sanford suggested that a teacher needed to learn how to talk to black people. He is also accused of telling teachers how to vote on JCTA issues and of intimidation and religious discrimination against a teacher.

One report of actions taken by Sanford at the school is particularly disturbing. According to the tipster, a black male student accidently brushed the behind of a white female student. We all know that these types of events now get serious attention by school officials due to lawsuits and other action taken by parents. However, the black child was taken into the hallway by Sanford along with his teacher and was told by Sanford that the child better watch out because they have “hung n*****s” for worse actions against a white woman. The account states that Sanford then went into the classroom, removed his shirt exposing a white tank top and told the children that he works out for that reason (presumably to protect himself from white lynch mobs?). He then threatened the child in front of his peers.

Sanford has not replied to a request for comment on the allegations.
