Croatian Govt Urged to Sack ‘Extremist’ Minister
A Nobel Prize winner, former ministers and numerous arts world figures have signed an open letter calling for culture minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic to be sacked for his controversial views on World War II. Over 100 former officials, arts figures, professors and journalists from around the world have signed an open letter calling for the removal of Hasanbegovic, who is known for his controversial past and has been widely criticised for his views on WWII history in Croatia. The signatories include former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell, Italian Nobel Prize for literature winner Dario Fo, Bosnian film-maker Danis Tanovic, former Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos and UNESCO honourary ambassadors and special envoys for education about the Holocaust and the prevention of genocide, Beate and Serge Klarsfeld. http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/arti...ter-05-24-2016 |
