CasaPound: Italy's anti-migrant neighbourhood patrollers
CasaPound: Italy's anti-migrant neighbourhood patrollers
CasaPound: a neo-fascist grassroots group turned political party, patrols Rome's multi-ethnic Esquilino district. As night falls near the Piazza Vittorio, a crowd of men stand silently waving Italian flags and another, blood red with a black tortoise emblem. The 50-strong group unfurls a large banner on this square in Rome's city centre, reading: "Rape, theft, violence, enough degradation in this area." It is one of a handful of anti-immigration groups that have become household names ahead of March 4th elections in Italy. https://www.thelocal.it/20180224/cas...ood-patrollers |

Neo-fascist group’s HQ bombed in Italy
The headquarters of the neo-fascist Italian party CasaPound in Trento, northern Italy, has been bombed. It comes days after the parliamentary elections, which saw huge gains for the right-wing Northern League party. Residents of Via Marighetto, the street on which CasaPound’s office is located, were woken by the blast at around 4:30 am on Wednesday. No-one was injured by the explosion, reportedly a home-made device, though the entrance to the building was damaged. A slogan was also found painted at the scene: “The only useful vote – anti-fascism.” However, the message was not accompanied by the symbol of any far-left group. https://www.rt.com/news/420791-italy...rento-bombing/ |
