Default Do you believe in zodiacs?

. . ?

. . quite a disputed phenomenon . .

. . it started in the Middle Ages when some 'scientists' back then claimed to have disovered that 'the stars within the heavens' had an 'impact on human life'. .

( more of less an attempt at a 'scientific approach' to 'prove' that 'certain forces up there are steering us from a distance' . .)

Where do you stand on that . . ?

. . millions of people daily buy their horoscope ( in other words ,this belief seems to have more followers than the organized religions . .)

. . 'occultism' ?

Well . . I know that the ancestors of today's Caucasian people ( in their pagan times . .) already had certain lores . .

Among the ancient Hindus ( Indo-Aryans) there already were myths about the 'Black Sun' ( a myth to which the National socialists later subscribed) and about the supposed 'Kali Yuga' . .

( the 'darkest of all world ages' . .) . .

(I guess that was their way of saying that we would have 'hell on earth' in the 'last days'(when put into the form of expression of one of today's "T.v.-evangelists". .)
The 'Black Sun' of Indo-Iranian myths has been proven to be based on a massive black hole in the centre of our galaxy.
Well . . .sure what is happening 'up there' can affect our lives but . . . The cosmos 'directing our fates'?..... Pretty much the esoteric trail if you ask me . . . .
What's your stand?

Well, we are known to be loyal to our friends and expect the same in return, and will take a grudge to the grave. Also reputed to be great in the sack. I haven't had any complaints.

. . there used to be the belief that the deceased might be “brought back into life“ when the moon was in the 8th House Aquarius . .

Lol,Ray. .

. . though I admit that I didn‘t specifically have that in mind when pointing to astro-necromancy . .

. . as one might have guessed by the picture , it is from this series . .

lol ! !

No beef ,the fact that it was claimed in this series made me research this this subject a little and it would appear at the times of the late Vlad Tepes Dracul this rite was still believed in . .

lol . .concerning “vampire strikes back“ ,somewhat ironic that Lee ,who portrayed Vlad , played a major role in Star Wars too .

. . what I find a bit . . .ahemm. . .strange though is why exactly the people of the anitiquity would name stellar constellations after supposed 'natural phenomena' they 'had a resemblance to' . .

But then . . .the people back then were quite 'close to nature', so that was probably what they first had in mind as they gazed towards the sky at night. .

. .the planets in our solar system are named after antique deities (Greco-Roman . .) . .

. . now, I wonder what these "real" deities from back then ( should they exist , lol ) would say to the fact that they have whole luminaries named after themselves today . . .

Most people know (or think they know) their 'Sun sign' (i.e., Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Leo, etc.) but most don't know what determines it. Few people even know that they have a 'Moon sign'. Both are determined by the Zodiac. I'll confine my remarks to the Sun.
The Sun signs take their names from constellations spread out across the sky, the Zodiac. Where the Sun rises and sets gradually changes over the course of the year, moving through the various constellations. Whichever constellation the sun was in when you were born is your 'Sun sign'.
Beginning in the last several centuries BCE it became increasingly possible and popular to track the heavenly spheres on parchment, vellum and later paper. Convenient as that was, they didn't realise that nothing in the universe is motionless and most of the motion is variable. Which brings us to the Precession of the Equinoxes.
The Precession of the Equinoxes refers to the observable phenomena of the rotation of the heavens, a cycle which spans a period of 25,868 years, over which time the constellations appear to slowly rotate around the Earth.

This is why the Sun sign that most people think is their own (e.g., such as those commonly found in popular horoscopes - Aries 3/21-4/20, Taurus 4/21-5/21, Gemini 5/22-6/21, etc.) is not accurate. The Sun was in Aries at the Spring Equinox a couple of millennia ago. But anyone born between Ostara and Beltane in this century need only observe the sky on their birthday to see that the Sun is in Pisces.

[The two points at which the ecliptic intersects the celestial equator are called nodes, or Equinoxes. The sun is at the vernal Equinox about March 21st and at the Autumnal Equinox about September 23rd.
The ecliptic is apparent great-circle annual path of the sun in the celestial sphere, as seem from the Earth. The plane of the path, called the plane of the ecliptic, intersects the celestial equator at an angle of about 23.5º. This angle is known as the obliquity of the ecliptic and is approximately constant over a period of millions of years.
The Equinoxes do not occur at the same points of the ecliptic every year, for the plane of the ecliptic and the plane of the equator revolve in opposite directions, respectively. The two planes make a complete revolution with respect to each other once every 25,868 years. This movement of the Equinoxes along the ecliptic is called the Precession of the Equinoxes. Illustrated Sequence of Precession of the Equinoxes - https://app.box.com/s/c4z7nv3c7p6jv9y31jy4nld2twyd667m]

The Zodiac might be useful if one is trying to familiarise themselves with the constellations, the cycles of the Earth or mythology. But as for the Zodiac (or astrology) having any significance in and of itself, there is none. Unless you count the abundant nonsense and superstition which are often attached to it.
Many of the stars which make-up the constellations of the Zodiac, as they appear from Earth, in fact have no association with each other. For example, in the constellation Orion, the stars visible to the naked eye are at distances ranging from just 26 light-years (which is relatively close to Earth) to several thousand light-years away.

From the Broadway musical "Hair" which came out when I was in training pants. I will post from Forman's flick (which came out around 10 years later) instead of cast recordings.
