The U.S. Army Is Exploring Mechanical Third Arms and Exoskeletons for Soldiers

We’re still a long way from a Metroid-style space bounty hunter suit, but the U.S. military is prototyping new wearables to enhance soldiers’ combat abilities. These include an exoskeleton similar to those being trialled for factory workers, and a prosthetic arm device, officially named the “Third Arm,” meant to make heavy machinery feel weightless.

Default Crush, Kill, Destroy

ZOG wants real-life versions of IDAK, Robocop and the Terminator as their global enforcers. Really creepy.

Is it just me, or does that third arm look like something other than an arm?

NASA is getting in on the act too, creating Robonaut (along with DARPA) to use on the International Space Station.

"As if the line between human and machine wasn't already blurry enough, researchers in Tokyo have developed a new method for using living rat muscle tissue in robotics.

The “biohybrid” design, described today in the journal Science Robotics, simulates the look and movements of a human finger. Video shows how it bends at the joint, picks up a loop, and places it down. It's a seemingly simple movement but one that researchers say lays the groundwork for more advanced—and even more lifelike—robots."
