this morning I hear a snappy tune by the Doors on the local aor station. I have no clue the name of the song. I'm pretty familiar with their whole catalogue so it was a surprise to hear a new one over the radio. unmistakably doors, Mojo singing, fast strong organ current chugging along the whole time. he was talking about people getting shot during the summer or something like that. I cant him the tune over the computer unfortunately -- anybody know this one?

Sounds as if it could be a track from The American Prayer album.
Do you have any more lyrics? The Doors are one of my favourites.
The Ghost Song perhaps?

You got it. That was Sammy in his first group, Ronnie Montrose' band "Montrose." Their self-titled debut album btw is considered one of rock's all-time classics. "Bad Motor Scooter", "Rock The Nation", "Rock Candy"....just can't beat that shit: pure, unadulterated, straight-up, ass-kickin' Rock.

Matter of fact, I think I'm gonna blow this pop-stand right now and go give the cd a good crank....

Vroom! Vrrrrroooooomm!

later

Sammy F'n Hagar!

I used to have a 1977 black & gold "Bandit Edition" Trans-Am. The thing had an 8-track player. No joke.

Uh-oh. Like me, you're showing your age there, buddy.

My first car, a '66 Ford LTD, came equipped with a Kraco 8-track. The fuckin' thing used to chew-up a tape a week on average. What a pos! I'm sure as hell glad that was one short-lived format, lemme tell ya.

btw -- I bought a used '81 Z-28 in '82 and Trans-Ams (Pontiac's answer to the Z-28) like the one you owned were my prime target when I felt in the mood to kick a little ass on the street. Didn't always win, but always had a blast. It was the only really hot car I ever owned. Damn I miss that thing.

Here's a pic I found on a search of what mine looked like, exactly:

Sweet! Those Z-28 were beautiful cars. One of my best friends had a '79 Z-28 just like that, only silver. Except he dropped a 427CID 'Vette motor in it. That thing was a rocket man!

Yea, that 6.6 Litre TA was my favorite car. Lots of memories....Lots of girls...lol. Funny the things we remember.

There is a "Muscle Car" used auto dealership within driving distance. I check their website all the time, telling myself that if I ever see a Bandit TA up for sale, I'm buying it.

Deep down, I know I won't.

A "hot" car is a part of our youth (if we are lucky) and should not be a part of our lives as Aryan men today.

Ah, to be young and unawares again!

Ahh, blow it out your kazoo, Key...

Best driving song ever? Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55." Best riding song ever? Why Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild", of course. (Though "Bad Motor Scooter" isn't all that bad either...or is it, is that bad?....this is all very confusing)
