Off-duty NYPD detective accused of child sexual abuse: police

An off-duty NYPD detective allegedly sexually abused two kids and filmed one of the young girls undressing in her room, according to authorities.

Franco Johnson, 42, was arrested Thursday morning in the Bronx and was slapped with five felony and seven misdemeanor counts in connection to the alleged crimes, including sexual abuse, unlawful surveillance and acting in a manner injurious to a child, cops said.

A Jersey Shore cop who once received a “key to Ocean City” is charged with sexually assaulting a minor.

Ocean City Sergeant Tyrone Rolls, 50, turned himself in at the Cape May Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday, according to a press release.

Rolls was charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault of a domestic violence victim, official misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

"Former City of Laurel Police Chief 69-year-old David Crawford has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree arson, and several other offenses, Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy announced Tuesday.

This comes after investigators began to link similar fires across Maryland involving vehicles, homes and other structures to Crawford.

Officials said Crawford allegedly set a car on fire in 2011 on 12th Street in Laurel. He is also charged with setting a fire in 2019 on Maple Terrace in Laurel that burned two vehicles, a detached garage, and a home. He was also linked to fires in Montgomery and Howard Counties and nearby jurisdictions.

Crawford has been tied to at least 12 fires since 2011, according to statements from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office and Laurel Mayor Craig A. Moe."

New York City Pride marches and events will no longer welcome police officers, organizers have announced, claiming their presence can be “threatening” to participants.

“The sense of safety that law enforcement is meant to provide can instead be threatening, and at times dangerous, to those in our community who are most often targeted with excessive force and/or without reason,” the organization announced in a statement over the weekend.

Pride marches in New York City, which are meant to represent LGBT individuals, are an annual event that attracts millions to the city.

Detective Brian Downey, president of the NYPD’s Gay Officers Action League (GOAL), told the New York Post that hundreds of officers have been marching in the event for decades.

A suspect shot and killed one central Illinois police officer and wounded another during a shootout at an apartment complex early Wednesday in which the suspect was also killed, authorities said.

The Champaign officers went to the complex shortly after 3 a.m. in response to a report about a domestic disturbance and encountered the armed suspect upon arriving, police said. An exchange of gunfire followed in which both officers and the suspect were shot.

Officer Chris Oberheim, 44, died of his wounds, the city's police chief, Anthony Cobb, said in a statement. The wounded officer was hospitalized in stable condition, the department said.

Police haven't released certain details about the shootout, including the names of the wounded officer and the suspect. The (Champaign) News-Gazette reported that the suspect was a man. I'll go out on a big limb here and say the suspect was a nigger.

Deputy, dispatcher charged in child sex abuse case after cop commits suicide

A Texas police sergeant confessed to sexually abusing children and implicated two co-workers in the crimes, during a dramatic standoff with investigators and a SWAT team that ended in his suicide, authorities said on Friday.

Deputy Robert Johnson, an eight-year veteran of Harris County Precinct One in Houston, shot himself in the head Wednesday, after being pursued by police who were tipped off to his abuse by a dispatcher that turned out to also be an accomplice in the attacks, police said.

Dispatcher Christina McKay and Deputy Chonda Williams were arrested for their alleged roles in the crimes and fired, Harris County Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen said at a press conference Friday.
