(White) Woman Tearfully Recalls New Year’s Eve Rape

A 56-year-old woman cried in a Detroit courtroom today as she recalled being raped on New Year’s Eve when the truck she was in got a flat tire.

Howard McKnight, 22, is accused of attacking her near Findlay and Bradford on Detroit’s east side and was ordered to stand trial by 36th District Judge Prentis Edwards Jr.

The woman, who is not being identified by the Free Press, said she was returning from the casino with her husband Dec. 31 when he pulled over because of the flat tire. The couple has been together for 41 years and share three children and more than 20 grandchildren.

She was in the truck and said a man, who officials later identified as McKnight, came up and ordered her to take off her gold chain necklace. She testified she also turned over rings and $285.

“I’m going to (expletive) your wife,” she heard her attacker say to her husband.
