Starkey is hardly the best drummer ever.

Neil Peart

In my humble opinion, John Henry 'Bonzo' Bonham was rock's best drummer

Shame Bonham had a penchant for drink and he died young ...would have liked to have seen what he would have done had he lived longer, with Led Zep and solo.

RIP Bonzo

Neil Peart was my second choice, too bad he and Bonzo are no longer with us.

The thread is about the best drummer in rock history.

Below the thread title, I mention my favorite private drummer, Ringo Starr, for his intelligence in understanding the exact type of drums that each song calls for, innovation in the way of playing the drums in rock, and for his creativity in his work on the drums .

But I appreciate all the great drummers presented here by Comrades, they are all wonderful.

Thank you for contributing to this thread!

Opinion question at best. Peart would tell you Steve Smith of Journey was better than him. Stewart Copeland would be up there. And I'm suprised I see no Mark Portnoy. For me it's:

Colin Jordan made some interesting comments about rock music. About it being "back to the jungle" music.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Charlie Watts.

Charlie Watts is one of my favorites.

When he died I honored him here:
