CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- Maurice Centel Mayfield, 26, of Hickory, was given an active prison term of 17-21 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder on Monday.

Mayfield pleaded guilty to the Nov. 20, 2012, death of 35-year-old Billy Chad Dellinger.

Witnesses said that Dellinger and Mayfield started fighting at Dellinger's home in Hickory around 3:30 a.m., Dellinger told Mayfield to leave. Mayfield became angry, pulled out a small handgun and shot Dellinger once in the chest.

A 69-year-old man who was shot in the head during a robbery at his Fort Worth home late last month is dead.

John Porter died Thursday morning at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.

Family members said a man burst into Porter's home March 28 and shot he and his wife, Diane.

The Porters were getting ready to leave their home on Cool Spring Drive and had just opened the garage door when James Ernest Floyd Jr., 50 surprised them, said Diane 's brother-in-law, Larry Preuit.

Diane was shot in the stomach and is recovering at John Peter Smith Hospital after a second surgery, Preuit said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man in connection with a homicide that happened in February.

Officers with LMPD's Homicide Unit arrested 35-year-old LaQuan Owsley on Saturday morning, according to a post placed on the official LMPD Facebook page.

Police say Owsley is charged with murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Sean Shoemaker.

Shoemaker's body was found in a pond near the 5000 block of Woodridge Lake Boulevard in the Valley Station area on February 27.

SPARTANBURG, SC - Spartanburg police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery at a KFC that ended in the death of a manager.

Police said they were called to the KFC restaurant on Cedar Springs Road around 10:30 p.m. on Mar. 31. When they arrived on scene, they said the found the restaurant's manager, Anthony Duane Tiffany, shot to death.

Friday, police obtained arrest warrants for 19-year-old De'adrian De'Paul Garcia of Spartanburg and Jyquez Julius Freeman of Roebuck for the murder of Anthony Tiffany and the armed robbery of the KFC on Cedar Springs Road.

The Sheriff's Office said it will seek warrants on Garcia and Freeman for several other armed robberies. Garcia was implicated in the armed robbery and murder of Anthony Tiffany,

A second victim of Saturday's shooting at a South Florida gym died of his injuries, authorities said Sunday.

Marios Hortis, 42, was one of two people shot by 33-year-old Abeku Wilson, who had been let go as a trainer Saturday at the Equinox gym in Coral Gables "due to workplace violence and was escorted off the premises."

Investigators say Wilson returned to the gym with a handgun and fired multiple shots at Hortis and 35-year-old Janine Ackerman, the facility's general manager, before fatally shooting himself. Ackerman was pronounced dead Saturday.

GAINESVILLE – Who killed Dennis Ronald Gayton? Police are asking the public to help identify a person of interest connected to a deadly shooting.

Gayton was shot and killed on April 4 in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Investigators have developed a composite sketch of a person of interest and are hoping the public can assist in identifying him. He is described as a black make 5’0 to 5’3, medium to stocky build with close cropped hair....

The Ramsey County attorney’s office said they need more information before they can consider filing charges against a man who was arrested last week in connection with the triple murder of a St. Paul family in the city’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood.

Jeffery Arkis Taylor Jr., 19, was booked in the county jail Friday on three counts of probable cause aiding and abetting second-degree murder, one count of aiding and abetting attempted second-degree murder and one count of kidnapping. He was released just before noon Monday.

Taylor’s 20-year-old half-brother, Jeffrey Jemaile Taylor, was found dead at the scene of the killings and is the suspected shooter in the incident.

Maria McIntosh, 19, and Olivia McIntosh, 17, and their father, Wade G. McIntosh, 47, were killed about 1 a.m. Friday at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of English Street. The girls’ mother, Anita Sprosty, was critically injured in the shooting.......

The man accused of beating a 95-year-old Anoka man to death and pawning some of his property is now charged with first-degree murder.

Isaiah Montrell Thomas, 27, of Anoka has been arrested in the death of a 95-year-old Anoka man found slain in his home on Monday, Nov. 28. Thomas was being held in the Anoka County jail on suspicion of burglary and murder, but had not been charged in court. Albert John Loehlein was found dead Monday morning by a relative dropping off groceries at his home
on Nov. 28.

Just days before the 30th anniversary of the murders of a Marine and his wife, the surviving family members learned the man convicted of killing them was denied his requested parole.

Marine Pvt. Ronnie Curtis, now 62, killed James and Joan Lotz in their home on Camp Lejeune on April 14, 1987.

James Lotz, 28, was Curtis’ commanding officer in the Marine Corps. Curtis, then 21-years-old, went to his home.
Curtis said he had been in a car accident, and asked to use the phone. In the kitchen, he stabbed Jim Lotz twice in the chest. Joan ran out from the bedroom. Curtis stabbed her seven times in the chest, back, head and neck. He sexually assaulted Joan, then made a sandwich and watched TV.

A Robeson County man has been charged in the murder of a Clinton woman, whose personal information was used in financial transactions following her death, Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities said.

Steven Munley, 40, of 916 W. Martin Luther King Drive, Maxton, has been charged with murder.

According to sheriff’s reports, around 4:50 p.m. Monday, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office responded to 546 Potato House Road, Clinton, regarding a “suspicious death.” Upon arrival, deputies discovered the resident, Gladys Rachel Bradshaw, 63, deceased in her home.

Through the investigation, detectives discovered financial transactions completed using the victim’s information that occurred after the death.

GUTHRIE, Okla. - Police have arrested a man in connection to the murder of a man who was shot 36 times in front of a Guthrie home.

Police say 24-year-old Joseph Angelo was shot multiple times in the face and torso around 12:15 a.m. last Wednesday morning.

Reggie Dewayne Smith was arrested in connection to Angelo's murder

Eh, I don't know her. Just notice she faithfully recorded hush crimes for years. I'm sure she's away for some personal reason and will return. If she doesn't want the thread named in her honor, I will change it back.
