Authorities could only speculate that 22-year-old Jamal Samuels was deeply troubled -- reportedly mentally ill -- when he shot his mother, his niece and a coworker before turning the gun on himself in another coworker's driveway.

Police said the rampage began when Samuels, a part-time UPS worker, killed his mother, Annie Samuels, with an assault rifle at their home on Edinborough in Detroit. He then turned the gun on his niece, police said, shooting her in the chest, thigh and hand.

Then Samuels doused the pair with an unknown flammable liquid, police said, and lit his mother on fire in a bedroom.

The girl, Brittney Samuels, managed to flee to a neighbor's house. She was in critical condition Wednesday evening at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, where family members said she was undergoing several surgeries. She is expected to survive.

Confrontation in parking lot

Jamal Samuels' shooting spree didn't stop there, police said.

After he fled his mother's home in her champagne-colored 2003 GMC Envoy, police said he drove to the UPS plant in Livonia, where he waited for a coworker. Samuels had shown up for work at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday but was sent home within an hour with other part-timers who weren't needed.

Kelton (Lamarr) Kidd II, who police said was a work buddy of Samuels, ended his 2:30 a.m. shift late, clocking out about 3 a.m. Kidd's family said he had phoned his girlfriend to say he was on his way home.

He never arrived.

Instead, Samuels ambushed him, police said, shooting Kidd multiple times in the Wal-Mart parking lot where he had parked his vehicle.

A coworker in the same parking lot said he heard the gunshots about 3:10 a.m. He saw a body on the ground and said he watched as Samuels fired three or four shots. Samuels turned Kidd's body over and kicked him, said the coworker, who asked not to be identified because he was new on the job.

Kidd was dead before paramedics arrived.

Suicide in driveway

Samuels still wasn't finished, police said.

He drove to the ranch-style brick home of another coworker, Wallace Crawford Jr., on Beech Daly in Redford Township. There, Samuels shot and killed himself inside his mother's Envoy, parked in the driveway of Crawford's home.

Crawford's father, Wallace Crawford Sr., noticed the Envoy as he got ready for work as a supervisor at the William Dickerson Detention Facility in Hamtramck.

Crawford said he called Redford Township police, assuming that a stolen car had been ditched in his driveway. When police arrived, they discovered Samuels' body.

"I'm just thankful to God that he didn't try to come into my house after my son," Crawford said as police and workers from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office pulled Samuels' body from the Envoy. Police said that might have been Samuels' plan.

"That guy was probably going to be the next victim," Detroit Police Cmdr. James Tolbert said.

Crawford said Samuels sometimes gave his 25-year-old son rides home from work. They were acquaintances, he said, but not really friends.

A mother's anguish

Emily Kidd, whose son was found dead in the Wal-Mart parking lot, said she had never heard of Samuels. Nor did she recognize him from the pictures police showed her.

She said her son, known by his middle name, Lamarr, to his friends and family, loved his job at UPS. He recently had been promoted from part-time to full-time, giving him the extra money he needed to move to a Westland apartment last month.

The Mackenzie High graduate died before he got to pay his first month's rent.

"When I talk about Lamarr, I'm always bragging," Emily Kidd said Wednesday afternoon in her Piedmont home, surrounded by Christmas decorations and family members -- including Kidd's brothers, 19-year-old Laurence Kidd and 14-year-old Michael McDonald. "I can honestly say that he was a very good kid. He never made me cry.

"Until now."

Emily Kidd first began to worry about her son when his girlfriend called at 6 a.m. to say he hadn't come home. Then she saw a news alert on television that said a UPS worker had been killed in Livonia.

Still, she was sure it wasn't her son -- until an unmarked police car pulled into her driveway about 7 a.m.

Her eyes welled when she spoke of Samuels.

"He took something from me that was mine," she said. "I'm pissed off. And don't nobody know why he did it."

Mental instability

Livonia Police Detective Sgt. Jeff Teeter said Samuels, Crawford and Kidd were friendly at work.

"We'd like to know why," Teeter said. "I don't know if we'll ever find out."

Family members told police that Samuels had a mental condition, possibly bipolar disorder. But Tolbert said police aren't sure what sparked the shooting spree.

"When you kill your mother, you can't be of sound mind," Tolbert said. "You're going to hurt again or kill yourself."

Still, an expert in mental illnesses said bipolar disorder alone wouldn't necessarily trigger such a violent outburst.

"Bipolar disorder is mood swings: extremely happy and extremely down," said Anatole Matulis, a doctor at St. John Hospital in Detroit.

Matulis said such a condition coupled with drug or alcohol abuse could lead to violent behavior. He said Samuels could have experienced a break with reality.

"Any drug could cause this paranoia," Matulis said.

Police said Samuels has no adult criminal record, but as a juvenile he was arrested by the Detroit Police Gang Squad for cocaine possession in October 1998, according to court records. He spent a year on probation and had to wear a home tether.

'A beautiful person'

By late morning Wednesday, the view of Samuels' home from the curb gave no indication of the turmoil that occurred there hours earlier.

Annie Samuels' older brother, Bennie, 67, of Detroit, arrived around 11:30 a.m. with cousin Gail Dent, 50, of Detroit.

"She was a beautiful person; I loved Annie," Dent said. "Annie would do anything for anyone."

She said Annie Samuels worked at Sinai-Grace Hospital.

Christopher Townsend, 35, of Detroit said he often got together with the Samuelses and others in their backyard for parties and to barbecue.

"She was not my mom, but she was like my stepmom," Townsend said, struggling to hold back tears.

He said his wife woke him early Wednesday, after getting a call about the death.

"I talked to another friend of mine who said he must have been on the edge to have done this," Townsend said of Jamal Samuels.

A neighbor, Tommie Lee Caldwell, 57, said he occasionally saw Jamal Samuels walking down the street with beer, talking loudly and acting obnoxious.

He said Jamal Samuels would sometimes argue with his mother, but added, "I didn't think it would go to that extent where he would gun her down."

A shooting spree that police say left three dead also damaged a silo, causing the loss of 60,000 gallons of milk.

Kelton Lamarr Kidd II, 23, of Detroit was killed early yesterday in a shooting in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store in Livonia.

During the shooting, a bullet pierced one of two silos that stand behind the lot.

A manager at Michigan Dairy says at least $150-thousand in milk poured from the hole. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been called to help prevent groundwater contamination.

Police say 22-year-old Jamal Samuels killed Kidd after killing his mother and injuring his niece in their Detroit home. Police say the spree ended when Samuels killed himself in a driveway in Wayne County's Redford Township.

Serial Killer Stumps Mexico City Police

MEXICO CITY -- The killer is either a cross-dressing man or a robust woman who strangles elderly women with stockings or telephone cables.

Mexican police believe the so-called "Mataviejitas," or "Little Old Lady Killer," has killed at least seven elderly women in the country's bustling capital of 20 million, although they are investigating whether 22 other slayings of older Mexico City women since 2003 are also related.

The slayings have captured the imagination of tabloid-style papers and news stations in recent months, while terrorizing older residents in a city already plagued by kidnappings and crime. They have also brought fresh criticism of a police department and justice system that leaves the vast majority of crimes unsolved and unprosecuted.

Police say the killer struck most recently in October. Witnesses have described a masculine figure in a dress near the scene of some of the crimes, indicating the killer may be mimicking another serial killer in France -- the Monster of Montmartre, a transvestite who strangled or bludgeoned to death 21 elderly Parisian women between 1984 and 1987.

Investigators believe the killer probably tricks his or her way into the victims' homes by posing as a nurse or government worker, then kills the women and ransacks their places. In most cases, only small objects such as crucifixes and rings have been stolen -- perhaps as trophies, a feature common with serial killers, police say.

Another clue linking the killer to France is that three of the victims all had copies of the same painting -- an 18th century portrait called "Boy in Red Waistcoat" by French artist Jean-Baptiste Greuze. The canvas, which was popular in Mexico in the 1970s, shows a feminine-looking boy in a frilly red tunic.

Criminologist Miguel Ontiveros, who constructed a psychological profile of the killer, said he believes the paintings are no coincidence.

"The feminine boy in the waistcoat could be connected to a murderer who has a sexual identity crisis," Ontiveros said.

Ontiveros also believes the killer has a hatred for old women, probably stemming from a bad childhood experience, such as sexual abuse.

With all of the media attention, Mexico City police have been under increasing pressure to solve the case, even turning to their Parisian counterparts for training on how to protect evidence and seal off crime scenes.

"He or she acts with a lot of skill, gaining the confidence of the victims and leaving few clues," Mexico City Attorney General Bernardo Batiz said of the killer, who he characterized as having "brilliant intelligence."

But some experts blame corruption and ineptitude among Mexican law enforcement officials for their inability to catch the killer.

"The bungling of this investigation sends a message to the public that the police do not protect you and you better be worried," said Rene Jimenez, an expert on social violence at Mexico's National Autonomous University.

Some Mexican officers simply don't know how to protect crime scenes, said Jose Luis Perez, who directs the Mexico City detective training center where the French police gave their courses.

"There are police who touch things and leave prints and then we waste time investigating false leads," Perez said.

Authorities have handed out 1 million fliers to elderly residents in the city, warning them to keep their doors closed to strangers. Many residents fear the killer will strike again.

Maria Teresa Torres, 81, said she recently installed an eyehole in her door so she could see who was calling.

"Why does this beast want hurt to us?" asked Torres, who lives alone, like about 10 percent of the 500,000 elderly women in Mexico City. Patting her pet terrier she added, "My peluza will defend me."

DE QUEEN, Ark. Jan 29, 2006 — A mother accused of smothering her three young children left notes that officials say could help determine what led to the killings, and her priest said Sunday that she had expressed "tremendous remorse."

Paula Eleazar Mendez, 43, was in a county jail Sunday after being treated at a hospital for swallowing a toxic substance.

She had collapsed as officers arrived at her southwestern Arkansas home Saturday morning in response to a telephone call from the children's father in New York. Inside the home, the officers found the bodies of the children, ages 6 to 8, lying side by side on a bed, said Chris Brackett, an investigator with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

"I do not believe there is any dispute as to who killed these three children, and therefore who will be charged," prosecutor Tom Cooper said. "However, we have not determined at this time the particular homicide charge or punishment we will be seeking."

De Queen Police Chief Richard McKinley said investigators needed a translator to read the notes that were written in Spanish.

A family priest who visited Mendez in a hospital Saturday night described a woman experiencing profound sorrow.

"She has tremendous remorse. She is deeply sorry," the Rev. Salvador Marquez-Munoz said Sunday before entering St. Barbara Catholic Church for Mass. "She asked for our prayers and forgiveness because she is realizing how much she has hurt the community, as well."

He identified the children as 8-year-old Elvis and 6-year-old twins, Samanta and her brother Samuel.

Autopsies were planned to determine whether the children had been poisoned or smothered, as their mother told police, Cooper said. The children's faces were not covered when police found them.

Cooper said an emergency room doctor told him Mendez had not ingested enough of the toxic substance to kill herself. Her arraignment is expected Monday, McKinley said.

In the house's yard Sunday was a seven-foot-wide pile of burned papers. A page in a religion book bore the words "vamos a celebrar" Spanish for "let's celebrate." A child's handwriting was scrawled in blue ink across some papers, and there were charred letters from a labor union in New York City

The Tragedy of Chautauqua County

A few weeks ago we were treated to yet another case of a Black sexual predator with AIDS infecting as many White girls as possible with his lethal disease by having sex with them. Nushawn Williams, a small-time drug dealer, car thief, armed robber, and would-be "rap artist," liked to take the bus from his Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood to Chautauqua County in the mostly White, western part of New York state and find young White girls to seduce. He had sex with a large number of White schoolgirls in the county, some as young as 13, and infected many of them with the AIDS virus.

When AIDS cases began showing up among schoolgirls in the county, public health officials became alarmed. They didn't tell the police what they knew about the Black AIDS carrier who had been infecting the girls, however, because the homosexual lobby, which is politically very powerful in New York, had persuaded the legislature to pass a law making it illegal to release information about AIDS carriers, even to the police. Finally, as the number of young girls infected by Nushawn Williams continued growing, health officials went to a judge and got permission to inform the police and the public about him. The case finally hit the newspapers in early November, where it made quite a sensation.

One thing that none of the news articles about Nushawn Williams mentioned was the fact that many of his victims were White girls, that he deliberately sought out White girls. The racial angle wasn't mentioned at all, as if it weren't important. One would have to have access to information not available to the general public to know that many of his victims were White, although anyone familiar with the demographics of Chautauqua County, New York, might suspect that he went there because it was a White area.

Newsweek magazine finally spilled the beans in its November 10 issue, which carried a lengthy story on Nushawn Williams, mostly trying to generate sympathy for the Black criminal by detailing his "deprived" childhood and the dysfunctional family in which he grew up. Newsweek didn't mention the racial aspects of the case either, but two of the teenaged victims who were pictured in the magazine were White, both blondes.

Williams used to hang around the school playgrounds to pick up White girls. He would treat them to some of his "gangsta' rap" lyrics, flash some of his gold jewelry, and promise them drugs in exchange for sex. He had sex with literally hundreds of young, White girls in this way. Dozens of them were infected with the AIDS virus and will die a horrible death as a result.

It is interesting to study the various reactions of the media to the Nushawn Williams case. Generally there is sympathy for his victims. Sometimes there is sympathy for him. Nearly all of the media suggest that what we need to do in response to such cases is teach young people to use condoms. One or two really bold columnists, willing to risk the wrath of the homosexual lobby, have suggested that the public's health is more important than the privacy of AIDS carriers, and so we ought to consider relaxing the ban on telling the police about AIDS-carrying criminals. But none of the media have mentioned the racial aspects of the case. That is an absolute no-no.

So who is to blame for what happened to those White schoolgirls in Chautauqua County? Is it the school officials who didn't impress on them strongly enough the need to use condoms? Is it the politicians in the state legislature who pandered to the homosexuals by making it more difficult for public health officials to warn the public about people like Nushawn Williams? Hardly. One almost suspects that these issues are raised by the media as a smokescreen to keep people from putting the blame where it really belongs.

I'll tell you who is to blame for what happened to those young, White girls in Chautauqua County. It is everyone who made it even thinkable for them to have a sexual relationship with a non-White. Everyone. It is the entire Politically Correct establishment. It is the school officials who distribute sex-education literature urging the use of condoms: literature which has cartoon-type illustrations showing young Whites and Blacks together and subliminally suggesting that one's sexual partner may be of any race. It is the Christian ministers who preach against the so-called "sin of racism," leading young White girls to feel guilty if they reject the advances of a Black male. It is the trendy parents who want their children to be Politically Correct above all else and who therefore fail to train them to have an abhorrence of racial mixing.

Above all others the people responsible for what happened to those girls are the immensely powerful and unspeakably evil men who control the mass media in America. They are the men who promote "gangsta' rap" among young Whites who don't know any better: men like MTV owner Sumner Redstone and Time-Warner boss Gerald Levin.

They are the men who control the television entertainment industry, which has such a powerful influence in shaping the attitudes and behavior of young people today -- and which with increasing boldness promotes the idea of interracial sex, of interracial romance, as being fashionable. They are the owners of the syndicates which distribute comic strips and comic books for children portraying interracial groups as the desirable norm.

Now, nearly all of these powerful and evil men who control the mass media are Jews, and they do what they do knowingly and deliberately. Anyone who has studied them understands that their aim is to encourage racial mixing among Whites and non-Whites. But they are not the only ones to blame. Everyone who collaborates with them, everyone who tolerates them, Jew or Gentile, also is to blame. The advertising agency bosses and the big corporation executives who promote racial mixing, "diversity," and "multiculturalism" because the Jewish media bosses have made these things fashionable and because the advertising agency bosses and corporation executives believe that the more fashionable they appear to be the more money they will make are all to blame. Among these people, many of them Gentiles, who are to blame for what happened to those young girls in Chautauqua County are some of the richest men in the country. They are rich, powerful, intelligent men, understanding the consequences of their actions, but utterly irresponsible, caring only about their own wealth and power – men like Bill Gates, for example, whose Microsoft Corporation sponsors advertising aimed at making White people feel guilty if they have racial feelings or prefer to be among their own kind.

And there are the politicians and bureaucrats, who hang on every word of the controlled media, cater to every whim of the media bosses, and eagerly dance to whatever tune they play. These are the politicians and bureaucrats who gave us forced racial integration in our schools and an assortment of so-called "fair housing" laws to force the racial integration of our residential neighborhoods, politicians and bureaucrats who have legislated and enforced "civil rights" laws and affirmative action programs and dozens of other programs and laws designed to "multiculturalize" what used to be a White country – a country in which it would have been unthinkable for a Black criminal to be allowed to hang around White schools trying to pick up White schoolgirls, and it would have been unthinkable for any White girl to respond to him.

These are the politicians and bureaucrats like Bill Clinton and his crew who are currently engaged in a massive governmental program to "pull America together," as they like to say, and further encourage the mixing of Blacks and Whites. They are the politicians and bureaucrats who have followed the Jewish lead and defined any effort by White people to protect themselves from non-Whites as "hate."

Any sort of action taken by a White person against the Nushawn Williamses of this world in an effort to protect young White girls is called a "hate crime." Any effort by a White person even to warn other White people about animals of the Nushawn Williams type is denounced by these politicians and bureaucrats as "hate propaganda."

I'll give you a specific example. The organization I head, the National Alliance, distributes stickers warning of the dangers of sex with Blacks. It warns that sex with a Black is far more likely, on the average, to lead to AIDS than is sex with another White person. It warns that Black males are 14 times as likely to be AIDS carriers as heterosexual White males. We distribute these stickers because the government and the media don't warn the White public of the danger of sex with Blacks. The government and the media don't mention that Blacks are far more likely to be AIDS carriers than Whites. They don't warn people about this because they don't want to discourage sexual contacts between Blacks and Whites -- quite the opposite, in fact.

Because the media and the government do not disseminate this important information about the danger of being sexually involved with Blacks, my organization works hard to provide this information to the public. And as a consequence our stickers are denounced as "hate literature" by the mass media and by the politicians and bureaucrats who take their cue from the media -- and these include police officials, for example, who certainly are aware of the AIDS dangers associated with Blacks, but who also are more interested in being Politically Correct, for the sake of their careers, than they are in protecting the public.

Now, it's one thing to assign blame for this problem -- it's one thing to point out who is responsible for making our young girls victims of Nushawn Williams and other Black sexual predators – and it's quite another thing to solve this problem, to punish those responsible and ensure that they do no more damage.

And let me assure you, this is a problem we must solve. Not because one Black criminal has destroyed the lives of a few dozen White girls. After all, many of the girls affected were pretty trashy: the most empty-headed and fashion-conscious of MTV fans, the sort that it's better, for eugenic reasons, to have removed from our breeding population anyway. No, the Nushawn Williams case is important because it is symbolic of the moral rot of our people.

It's not a Black problem that we must solve; it's a White problem. We don't care how Blacks behave among themselves; that's their problem. Our problem is that we permit Black behavior to affect us. Our problem is that we haven't got our own affairs in order; we haven't got control of our own destiny. We used to have a White country. We used to have our affairs under control. But we permitted the Jews to gain control of our mass media, our news and entertainment media, and we permitted the traitors among us to collaborate with the Jews, and together they led us off the correct path and into the present morass, where the sort of thing that happened in Chautauqua County can happen and will happen with increasing frequency in the future.

They confused and misled our people. They persuaded us that we owed the non-Whites of the world a living, that we had to take them into our midst and let them into our schools and neighborhoods and let our sisters and our daughters run with them. They told us that we were racists and haters if we objected to this.

They persuaded the more impressionable of our young people that Black music and Black manners and Black life-styles were fashionable and ought to be imitated. That's why the White schoolgirls in Chautauqua County let themselves be infected with AIDS by Nushawn Williams. And trashy though those schoolgirls may have been, it's the sort of thing that we must not allow to continue happening. We must cut the moral rot out of our people that permitted it to happen. We must root out of our society those who introduced and cultivated and encouraged that moral rot, and we must destroy them so that they can never do that sort of thing again.

Ultimately, we must separate ourselves from the Blacks and other non-Whites and keep ourselves separate, no matter what it takes to accomplish this. We must do this not because we hate Blacks, but because we cannot survive if we remain mixed with them. And we cannot survive if we permit the Jews and the traitors among us to remain among us and to repeat their treachery. Eventually we must hunt them down and get rid of them. Their presence among us makes us more unclean and more ill than the presence of the Blacks.


All of us understand, of course, that not all Blacks behave like Nushawn Williams. And we don't blame all Blacks for what happened to those White schoolgirls. We don't even blame Nushawn Williams. We blame the fact that the Blacks were brought into our midst. What happened in Chautauqua County couldn't have happened if we hadn't brought Blacks – the good ones and the bad ones together – into our midst. They must all go – the good with the bad – and work out their own destiny, while we work out ours.

And we understand that not every Jew, not every politician, not every newspaper editor, and not every homosexual approved of what Nushawn Williams did. But we also understand that it was their collective policies, it was the result of all of them working together, which produced the tragedy of Chautauqua County.

Eventually we will solve our problem, eventually we will ensure that there will be no more tragedies of this sort, by dealing with these people collectively. It is enough that all of these people supported the general policies which led to Chautauqua. It is enough that they supported racial integration and they all spoke out against White racism. It is enough that they all kept silent when they should have warned our people. It is enough that not one of them pointed out the racial aspects of the Nushawn Williams case. For that we will hold them all responsible, and we will deal with them all together: the White Christian preacher who preached from his pulpit about the "sin of racism;" the White politician who catered to the minorities and danced to the Jewish tune to get elected; the White school official, police chief, or government bureaucrat who was careful always to pay lip service to the latest trend in race-mixing policy promoted by the Jewish media. We will deal with them all.

You know, when I have said things like this before, a lot of cautious, timid conservatives have responded by saying that I am too extreme, that I should not talk about America's situation in such rough terms. They hope, even if they do not believe, that there is some nice way of arresting America's decline, some safe and easy way of keeping things from getting any worse, some way that will permit them to continue taking their ease and enjoying their comforts and luxuries without stirring themselves, without taking any chances.

Let me remind you that I am a pretty conservative fellow myself. I'm not a wild-eyed bomb thrower at all. But I do like to face facts. I do like to look reality right in the eye and not pretend that it's something else. And the reality of our present situation is this: You won't be allowed to continue enjoying your ease and your comfort much longer. The situation is snowballing. Yesterday it was an empty-headed piece of White trash named Nicole Brown. Today it is a bunch of empty-headed, trendy schoolgirls in Chautauqua County, New York. And tomorrow it will be your daughter or your sister. Too many people do what the Jews persuade them it is fashionable to do. You cannot isolate yourself from what is being done to your people. It will be done to you too. You cannot continue to enjoy yourself indefinitely when the very basis for the society in which you are living already has been destroyed, already has been rotted out.

Fortunately, more and more ordinary White men and women are beginning to realize that. More and more of them are beginning to understand and to accept that the only way that their children and their grandchildren will have a future in America is to have a total revolution. They are beginning to understand that no matter how destructive that revolution will be, just letting things go on as they have been will be much, much worse. Nushawn Williams has helped them to understand that. And when what happened to those White schoolgirls in Chautauqua County happens to your sister or to your daughter, perhaps you will understand it too.

Lorenzo allegedly met Schweickert online and agreed to fulfill a fantasy of torturing and killing men.

In May, Schweickert told federal agents that he and Lorenzo dismembered the body of Jason Galehouse, 26, put the pieces in garbage bags and scattered them in trash bags throughout Tampa on Dec. 19, 2003. The next night, Lorenzo and Schweickert allegedly drugged, raped and killed Michael Wachholtz, 26, wrapping him in a bed sheet and leaving him in his Jeep.

Schweickert's voluntary confession led police to a cache of nearly half a million images on Lorenzo's computer, including photographs of Wachholtz's dead body taken at Lorenzo's house. Galehouse's DNA was found in a pool of blood under the floor of Lorenzo's garage.

Schweickert faces a federal trial on similar drug charges within two weeks. State and local authorities believe it is likely that both men will face murder charges in state court as well.

Brian Winfield, spokesman for Equality Florida, said he was pleased with the results of the federal trial, but wants to ensure that murder charges go forward.

Winfield told the PlanetOut Network that police homophobia, contrary to earlier fears, has so far not hindered the investigation or the prosecution.

"We used town-hall meetings and press releases and other means to help victims who might be intimidated (by possibly homophobic officers) to come forward," he said. "Now the gay community's relationship with Tampa police has grown stronger, and we have a mostly open communication with the state attorney."

Investigators are also looking into the connection between Lorenzo and the disappearance of at least six other gay men in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale.

"Everyone involved in the case believes there are other victims of Lorenzo," Winfield said. "These nine were just the strongest cases."

West Side Man Charged In Triple Homicide

Police finally have a suspect in a triple homicide that left four children without a father, in a case that was cracked by a police dog.

CBS 2's Rafael Romo spoke to the family of Luis Laboy, 42, one of three men killed in a Jan. 30 shooting on the West Side. For Jose Vargas, the oldest of Laboy's four children, the most difficult thing is trying to explain to his siblings that their father is never coming back.

Laboy was shot and killed as he was working in his garage near Division Street and Keeler Avenue.

Two of Laboy's friends, Emanuel Corona-Cruz, 18, and Jose Corona-Cruz, 21, were also killed in the shooting. Police News Affairs Officer Patrice Harper said a 46-year-old man was also shot in the incident but survived.

Antonyo Gipson, 23, of the 1100 block of North Kedvale Avenue, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Police said Gipson confronted the men with the intention of robbing them. The victims [speak no] English, and when the robbery was announced, they did not know what was going on. So with no provocation, the offender started shooting the victim, [sic] police said.

Harrison Area detectives said they were finally able to break the case after their Canine Unit found evidence that tied Gipson to the case.

The nos [sic] of a dog in the unit followed a scent to the bandana that was later linked to Gipson's residence.

Alleged child serial killer case resumes today

One of the biggest child serial murder cases in South African history is set to start in the Johannesburg High Court today. Sipho Dube (26), an alleged serial rapist and murderer, pleaded not guilty to all 41 charges against him last month.

The charges include murder, kidnapping, assault, rape and escaping from police custody. Between 2001 and 2004, Dube allegedly raped and murdered at least nine children between the ages of nine and 14.

The murdered children include Tina Bernardes (11), who was found dead near a mine dump in Denver, east of Johannesburg, in November 2003.
