The Globe and Mail’s Margaret Wente has been doing a little research into how things are going with Sweden's left-lauded "welcoming" and "generous" immigrant policies. Her conclusion: "Not so well." At all.

"In Sweden, where equality is revered, inequality is now entrenched," writes Wente. Citing staggering unemployment rates for immigrants, even after 15 years of living in the country, and skyrocketing

welfare costs (58% of welfare payments go to immigrants, 16% of the population).

Meanwhile, the population is getting increasingly bulkanized, with more and more immigrants uninterested in assimilating while now around a quarter of Swedes side with the country's anti-immigration party.

ROME – Italy bid farewell Friday to the first 19 of an estimated 160,000 refugees who are due to be resettled throughout Europe as part of the EU’s new redistribution program aimed at moving

asylum-seekers out of hard-hit receiving countries.

An Italian police aircraft carrying the 19 Eritreans took off from Rome’s Ciampino airport and headed to Lulea, in the far north of Sweden just south of the Arctic Circle, where Swedish officials will begin

registering them and processing their asylum requests.

Sweden’s immigration agency said the 14 men and five women, between age 25 and 40, were selected because they have a chance of being granted asylum, and because they had family or other connections to Sweden.

Bundled in flannel shirts and jackets, they smiled and waved as they climbed up the stairs to the aircraft while officials from Italy, the U.N. refugee agency and Red Cross waved from the tarmac.

A significant number of the people making dangerous journeys across the Mediterranean Sea are from Eritrea, an authoritarian country in northeast Africa.

Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said that upward of 100 more refugees from Italian centres would be resettled in Germany, the Netherlands and elsewhere in the coming weeks and that overall,

40,000 asylum-seekers would be moved out of Italy over the next two years.

Sweden Democrat leader, Jimmie Åkesson, told Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter on Saturday that he wants a total ban on asylum immigration to Sweden. He also said that he wants Sweden to leave the European Union.

The far-right nationalist leader was speaking in an interview with the newspaper that also touched upon his long sick-leave absence from politics.

Åkesson returned to the fray from his extended sick leave in April, just before the catastrophic extent of the refugee crisis, the worst since World War II, became fully evident.

“My message to these people is that Sweden can not take you. The absolute majority, if not all, of those seeking asylum in Sweden don’t have Sweden as their first safe country. They come from Germany and they come from Denmark.

And they came to those countries from other countries.”

“At some time you have to cherish the principle of first asylum,” Åkesson continued.

“What we will do is to enable people to remain in the immediate area so that they can get their basic needs met there. It should not be particularly difficult to tell people that, unfortunately, you will not enter our country because it is full.”

These are really bad numbers. But this is what a consensual invasion looks like.

Sweden is set to take 180,000 asylum seekers this year, more than twice as many as in 2014, and local authorities are buckling under the strain as they run out of housing and put up new arrivals in tents.

Sweden's total population is below 10 million. It's taking in a significant percentage of its population. Its young male population is probably not much over a million. And that's the category in which most of the Muslim migrants are in.

UPDATED: Sweden’s Migration Board (Migrationsverket) has almost trebled its forecast for the number of unaccompanied minors arriving in the country this year.

The government agency had previously predicted that 12,000 children and young adults would arrive in Sweden without a parent or other older relative.

But it has now revealed a new estimate of 30,000 to Swedish tabloid Expressen and public broadcaster SVT.

The announcement comes as Sweden struggles to find accommodation for record numbers of refugee arrivals of all ages.

Migrationsverket recently sent out a nationwide appeal for local councils and businesses to provide shelter as winter sets in.

But while theatres, sports centres and even a ski resort have opened their doors to refugees, the situation is much more complicated when it comes to unaccompanied children, as Swedish authorities seek to find them both foster

care and schooling.

The Latest: Sweden seeks to relocate migrants

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — The latest as tens of thousands of people flood into Europe in search of a new life. All times local.

Sweden says it will request to transfer some migrants to other European countries under an EU relocation plan.

In a joint news conference Wednesday with EU president Donald Tusk, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said the country's migration authorities are overstretched by the large influx.

With about 160,000 asylum-seekers expected this year, he noted that "Sweden has taken by far the highest number of asylum-seekers per capita" in the 28-member bloc.

"Sweden is not able to receive people in the way that we want to," he added. "That is why tomorrow (Thursday) my government will decide to request the relocation of migrants from Sweden to other EU member states."

EU plans already call for the relocation of 160,000 refugees from Italy, Greece and Hungary — the main entry points into the EU — but only a few have been transferred to other countries so far.

Lofven didn't say how many migrants Sweden wants to relocate.

In 2014, 11,000 people got a hunting license: 10% more than the year before. One out of five was a woman.

More and more Swedish commentators are now drawing the same conclusion: that Sweden is teetering on the brink of collapse. Jewish leader urges Sweden to prioritize anti-Semitism fight

The president of the European Jewish Congress says Sweden needs to be vigilant of anti-Semitism among some refugees seeking shelter in the Nordic country.

Moshe Kantor on Tuesday said that while Muslim refugees also face bigotry and racism, "anti-Semitism remains a significant problem in Sweden" and should be prioritized.

Kantor spoke to The Associated Press after a meeting in Stockholm with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.

A new mass nonwhite sex attack on white girls has taken place at two open air music festivals in Sweden this weekend—but so far only one Swedish newspaper has dared to report that the offenders were all “foreigners.”

All the other newspapers—including the notorious liars at the Aftonbladet—refused to mention the race of the attackers, even though the entire country knows the truth.

The attacks had gone on, the Aftonbladet said, “despite the enhanced police presence.”

The Aftonbladet added that a similar set of attacks had taken place at the Bråvalla festival in Norrköping, also held over the past weekend, and on Friday, a large number of young girls had been subjected to sexual molestation at the Karlstad festival.

By Saturday morning, sixteen complaints had been registered, the paper quoted police as saying. The Aftonbladet said that the female complainants said they had been “encircled by between seven and eight boys,” who had groped them. The youngest victim is only 12 years, police said.

As a result of the attacks, police had strengthened their presence at the festival, but the assaults had carried on during the next night as well.

At least two arrests were made, the Aftonbladet said. “Police and security guards arrested two men from the audience, aged 16 and 18, who were taken to the police station for identification purposes,” the Aftonbladet said, all the while making sure not to give any indication of their race.

By early Sunday, the total number of complaints exceeded 30, police said.

Another major Swedish newspaper, the Svenksa Dagbladet, reported that there had been 35 complaints laid over the weekend.

The paper said that Karlstad police “have been able to identify the people” suspected of the crimes, but also refused to make any mention of their race.

Another article in the Svenksa Dagbladet gave some more details, quoting Per-Arne Eriksson, Varmland police duty officer.

According to Eriksson, the attacks were made on “exclusively young girls” who had been “surrounded by groups of teenage boys.”

The assaults had taken place in the audience in front of the stage, Eriksson said, making identification of the perpetrators easy.

Only the Expressen newspaper dared to admit that the attackers were nonwhite “foreigners.” In an interview with one of the victims, a 15-year-old girl, the truth finally emerged:

“I stood and danced when a guy came up from behind and held me down. he started humping against my body; it was horrible,” she told the Expressen, going on to describe how five of her friends were also molested by “foreign youths.”

The Expressen also revealed that the two arrested suspects come from a local home for “unaccompanied refugee children.”

They were released “because of their young age” and sent back to their accommodation, police spokesman Eriksson was quoted as saying by the Expressen.

comes just a few days after Swedish police issued wristbands for Swedish girls with the slogan “POLICEAVSPÄRRAT #tafsainte” [which translates as “Police cordon, don’t grope”].








According to a press release issued by the Swedish police, “By wearing these wristbands, young women will be able to make a stand. No one should have to accept sexual molestation. So do not grope. And if you are groped, report it to the police.”

Police Chief Dan Eliasson said that the point of the wristbands was to “draw attention to the issue [of sexual assault], and urge those affected to report. We’re hoping mainly that this will get boys to think twice. A lot of them don’t seem to realize that this is a crime,” he added, ignoring the fact that the vast majority of sex crime in Sweden is committed by the nonwhite invaders.
