jewsign Why do people seriously think Christianity was Jewish?

I don't get it. It were Jews who killed Jesus and in the Old Testament Moses had a lot of things to say about Jews. I'm not a diehard evangelical, but Christianity is definitely anything but a bad thing.

Mostly because of its origins in the Messianic Apocalypticism which sprang up among the Jews during the Babylonian exile. All of the early Christians were Greek speaking Jews. The main characters of the Bible are all Jewish, including Jesus. Jesus keeps the Jewish laws and fulfils the Jewish prophecies. Even as late as the persecutions most people could not tell the Jews and the Christians apart.
Having said that, Christianity has very little in common with the Rabbinical Judaism of today. The sect that would later grow into Christianity had already distinguished itself from the rest of Judaism by the time of the Second Temple. Even in the synoptic gospels one can see the already growing anti-Jewish sentiments (e.g., compare the account of Jesus's trial in Mark and Luke to that in Matthew and John; in John Pontius Pilate is replaced by Harrod). Christianity's existence as a Jewish sect was brief, particularly compared to the 1700 years it has been practised mostly amongst non-Jews.
Over the centuries Christianity has changed much. The Bible has also changed but a great deal less. Christianity is a text-based religion. Even the context of the New Testament is entirely Jewish. Since most Christians have not, and never will, read the Bible perhaps that should not count for much but neither can it be ignored. It should come as no surprise that people ask 'How can a religion born of the Jews and centred around Jewish-based texts fail to be influenced by it?'. That is a valid question.
