Popular torrent site KickassTorrents is offline, (alleged) founder arrested
If you’re a KickassTorrent user, you’ll have to find another means to torrent media. Its alleged leader has been arrested and the site is now offline. Reaching all the way to Poland, the US has arrested 30 year old Artem Vaulin and charged him with two separate counts of criminal copyright infringement, conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit money laundering. http://thenextweb.com/insider/2016/0...fline-torrent/ The Department of Justice's statement on KAT's alleged founder and operator, 30-year-old Artem Vaulin, charges him with "unlawfully distributing well over $1 billion of copyrighted materials," and claims that he collected roughly $16 million in advertising revenue a year. KickassTorrents may be back (sort of), but Vaulin's future is about get a lot tougher. http://www.theverge.com/2016/7/22/12...ites-spring-up “After the shutdown of KickAssTorrent [1]the torrent users should know how the owner was caught. First the owner’s email ID was collected by the FBI when an undercover agent contacted him for advertisement. Then when the owner of the KickAssTorrent made a payment in Apple’s store, BOOM! He got caught. The IP address traced back to him in Poland. Police went there and arrested him. POOR THING!!” https://www.quora.com/What-happened-to-kickass-torrents |
