I'll bet Maduro can come up with some counter-charges against Trump, such as international terrorism and extortion, colluding with international jewry/NWO to overthrow the legitimate government of Venezuela, various humanitarian violations such as economic sanctions, etc.

‘New way of staging a coup’: Venezuelan FM blasts US for narco-terrorism charges against Maduro

26 Mar, 2020 20:14 / Updated 4 hours ago

Washington’s decision to indict Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on drug charges is “a new form of coup d’etat,” as well as a move to win over hispanic voters in Florida, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza has claimed.

The US Justice Department unsealed indictments against Maduro and more than a dozen Venezuelan political and military leaders on Thursday, accusing them of “narco-terrorism,” and implicating them in a plot to “flood the United States with cocaine.” Additionally, the State Department announced a $15 million reward for information leading to the arrest of the Venezuelan leader, and rewards of up to $10 million for each of his co-defendants.

Responding later on Thursday, Arreaza said that the indictments show the “desperation” of the “Washington elite,” and their “obsession” with the Latin American country.

The Trump administration does not consider Maduro’s government legitimate, and has recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as Venezuela’s “interim president” since his attempted coup last year.

However, efforts to dislodge Maduro from power – which ranged from economic sanctions to an international campaign to promote Guaido’s legitimacy, to veiled threats of military action – have thus far failed. According to Arreaza, the drug charges are simply “a new form of coup d’etat.”

Hard pass on the Noriega remix? US narcotrafficking charges against Maduro straight out of Panama playbook

26 Mar, 2020 19:20

The US indictment of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his subordinates on narcotrafficking charges echoes the rationale used to invade Panama and kidnap its leader – and Americans aren’t exactly thrilled with the reprise.

The Justice Department’s indictment of Maduro and four other senior Venezuelan officials on narcotrafficking charges – and the State Department’s offer of up to $15 million as a reward for evidence supporting those charges – reminded so many social media users of the 30-year-old plot to remove then-Panamanian president Manuel Noriega from office that the former CIA asset’s name was trending on Twitter on Thursday.
(...)
Few who understood the history were thrilled with the idea of pulling a Noriega on Maduro, however. CIA-supported Noriega had actually trafficked cocaine for years before he was charged, and many believed the invasion of Panama had been orchestrated to prevent him from opening his mouth about his relationship with the agency.

However, the Justice Department has not produced any evidence that Maduro is guilty – and the massive State Department rewards for evidence suggest that Washington is in dire need of proof in the Venezuelan case – making the “Noriega option” for Venezuela even less morally defensible than the invasion of Panama.

Others were more disgusted with the timing of the indictments. “They can’t stop coup-ing even during an outbreak!” one shocked user tweeted.

WORLD NEWS MARCH 27, 2020 / 8:42 PM / 2 DAYS AGO

Russia calls U.S. sanctions on Venezuela a 'tool of genocide' amid epidemic

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said on Friday U.S. “narco-terrorism” charges against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro were absurd, adding that sanctions on Caracas could become “a tool of genocide” amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The U.S. government on Thursday indicted Maduro and more than a dozen other top Venezuelan officials on charges of “narco-terrorism,” the latest escalation of the Trump administration’s pressure campaign aimed at ousting the socialist leader.

Russia, Maduro’s longtime political and financial backer, considers those accusations “absurd” and “wild” at a time when countries across the world join efforts to fight coronavirus, the Interfax news agency cited Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, as saying.

Poll: Only 3% of Venezuelans Say Guaido Is President

Most say Maduro is president, many say 'nobody' really is

Jason Ditz March 26, 2020

The latest poll out of Venezuela, from early March, shows that US-backed Juan Guaido is not considered the nation’s present by hardly anybody in the country. With a 3% margin of error, only 3% identified Guaido as president.

After over a year of the US harping on about him being the legitimate president. 71% of Venezuelans identified President Maduro as the president. He’s the one who won the last election, and this comes despite the US having just put a $15 million bounty on him.

Venezuela’s Guaido Urges Military, Others Back Him in Ousting Maduro

Presents regime change as needed in the 'severe emergency'

Jason Ditz March 29, 2020

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido has spent over a year trying to take over the country with US government backing. Guaido has consistently argued that he deserves to replace President Nicolas Maduro. Now, he is arguing that the coronavirus is such a severe emergency that he needs to take over the country to secure international aid to fight the virus.

This argument seems to be built around the reality that the US is heavily sanctioning Venezuela, and would severely curtain any medical imports to fight the virus, something that presumably would miraculously evaporate if Guaido took power.

Recent polls, however, say Guaido has very minor support among the public, either for his claim as de facto president or as a ruler they’d even want.

Coup plan B! US tells Guaido he may renounce his Venezuela ‘presidency’ claim – but they’ll still support him

31 Mar, 2020 19:08

The US State Department magnanimously agreed that opposition politician Juan Guaido may not actually be president of Venezuela, but insisted he still has to be part of a transition government if Caracas wants sanctions relief.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo put forth a “democratic transition framework” on Tuesday, under which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro would set up a power-sharing interim government with Guaido, that would arrange for elections in six months to a year.
(...)
The US and EU would lift their sanctions against Venezuela – including a ban on oil exports and on Maduro and his colleagues personally – if and when the initiative is “fully implemented,” the State Department said.
(...)
Within hours, the government in Caracas rejected the US plan, calling it a “a pseudo-interventionist proposal for a supervised government.”

"Venezuela does not accept, nor will it ever accept any tutelage, from any foreign government."

Washington and a score of its allies have stubbornly maintained since January 2019 that Guaido is the true president of Venezuela. Tuesday’s proposal is a tacit admission that his claim is void – but that does not mean the US is giving up on its dreams of regime change.

“We've made clear all along that Nicolas Maduro will never again govern Venezuela,” Pompeo told reporters, adding that the State Department “worked closely” with Guaido when they put together the proposal, and continue to support him.

U.S to deploy Navy ships closer to Venezuela: sources

Matt Spetalnick, Phil Stewart

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration is deploying U.S. Navy ships closer to Venezuela to beef up anti-drug efforts following a U.S. drug trafficking indictment against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, according to a U.S. official and two other people familiar with the matter.

The U.S. government is expected on Wednesday to announce the start of the enhanced drug interdiction mission in the Caribbean, the sources said on Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
(...)
On Tuesday, however, The Trump administration offered to begin lifting Venezuela sanctions if the opposition and members of Maduro’s Socialist Party form an interim government without him, marking a shift in a U.S. policy that has failed to end his grip on power.

Attempted coup & assassinations: Venezuelan prosecutors subpoena Guaido as ‘among main perpetrators’ in US-backed regime-change op

31 Mar, 2020 16:40

Venezuela’s prosecutors have summoned Juan Guaido over his role in the “attempted coup d’etat,” as well as in alleged assassination attempts. Guaido is the main figure in US-backed efforts to oust President Nicolas Maduro.
The move was announced by Attorney General Tarek William Saab on Tuesday in a televised speech. The official described Guaido as “one of the main perpetrators” of a "new" attempted coup.

The move comes after a cache of weaponry, said to be smuggled into Venezuela, was seized in neighboring Colombia last week.

“As part of last week's initial investigation into an attempted coup and assassination, following the unveiling of an arsenal of war, we have issued a summons for one of those responsible to appear next Thursday in the Prosecutor's Office,” Saab stated.

Default Distraction? Trump Sends Warships To Venezuela

"In a shocking press conference yesterday, President Trump and his advisors announced that the US military would begin conducting a "counter-narcotics operation" in the eastern Pacific and Caribbean. Perhaps not coincidentally, Trump's Justice Department indicted Venezuelan president Maduro on drug trafficking charges. Is the US about to "do a Noriega" on Maduro based on half-baked charges that the Venezuelan leader is some kind of drug kingpin? Have the president's war-braying neocons convinced him that the best thing to get our minds off of coronavirus is a "nice little war"?"

Distraction? Trump Sends Warships To Venezuela
Trump is having the military deploy ships like these for (((drug interdiction))) 'closer' to the coast of Venezuela, not a fucking battle fleet gladdy-girl

https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-...ear-venezuela/

The US military would simply go and arrest Maduro if they didn't think that the Russkies would react adversely to it, the Caribbean is basically a US lake already filled with all kinds of nasty naval assets it wouldn't be much of a problem to snatch the Venezuelan President on short notice with forces they already have in the area.

Ron Paul is an old woman that overreacts to every stupid thing the regime in DC queefs out to the world.

Probably true, but ZOG is also playing mind games with Maduro just like they are with Iran. I hope the Russians have a few submarines lurking about in the Caribbean with some big-ass torpedoes and missiles ready to fire at the Gavy rust buckets if necessary.

Exclusive: Venezuela gasoline shortages worsen as U.S. tells firms to avoid supply - sources

Marianna Parraga, Luc Cohen, Matt Spetalnick

(Reuters) - Gasoline shortages in Venezuela are worsening after U.S. officials have told foreign firms to refrain from supplying the fuel to the sanctioned South American nation and only provide diesel, according to five people familiar with the situation.

Since late 2019, U.S. officials have asked most of Venezuela’s fuel suppliers to avoid sending gasoline to the crisis-stricken nation. In the latest round of calls in early March between U.S. officials and oil firms, they repeated the ban, despite worsening humanitarian conditions in the country, one of the sources said.

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Venezuela’s state-run Petroleos de Venezuela [PDVSA.UL] over a year ago as a measure to oust socialist President Nicolas Maduro, who Donald Trump’s administration considers a dictator usurping power.

The Trump administration quietly ordered the transfer of some $342 million in funds from a Venezuelan central bank account at Citibank to an account controlled by opposition leader and self-proclaimed Venezuelan 'president' Juan Guaido at the New York branch of the US Federal Reserve.

"The Central Bank of Venezuela denounces the vulgar dispossession that Donald Trump, in complicity with some lawmakers from the National Assembly, ordered regarding the nation's financial resources, which had been blocked at Citibank."

Washington and its allies began seizing Venezuelan state assets in early 2019, shortly after recognizing Guaido as the country's 'interim president'. The seizures included the confiscation of Venezuelan gold bullion in US, British and European banks, the freezing of the assets of Venezuelan-owned but US-based oil refiner, transporter and seller Citgo, and the seizure of billions of dollars of liquid Venezuelan assets in US banks.

Venezuelan authorities have described these measures as "economic warfare" and urged the international community to stand up to and resist US bullying.

Guaido and other members of the opposition have also been accused of siphoning off some of these resources for their own personal use, and of spending US funds provided as 'humanitarian aid' on lavish hotels, food and drink, and even prostitutes. Last June, Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab accused Guaido and his comrades of acting less like an opposition and more like a "mafia."

‘Obstruction attempt’: Iran rejects US claim that it's hoarding Venezuela’s gold as payment for economic aid

2 May, 2020 14:33 / Updated 1 day ago

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said that Washington is using false accusations to ramp up its pressure campaign in Venezuela following US claims that Caracas has sent planes loaded with golden bars to Tehran.
Seyd Abbas Mousavi described allegations that Iran is taking gold from Venezuela as "baseless comments" that are intended to mount more pressure on the South American nation.

Such claims by the US government are "an attempt to obstruct the Venezuelan government's plans for reviving that country's refineries and producing oil products, including gasoline, a shortage of which has been caused by the cruel American sanctions," the diplomat said.

US special envoy for Venezuela, Elliott Abrams, had earlier claimed that the Iranian aid to Venezuela is "being paid in gold." He alleged that planes from Tehran carrying equipment for the Venezuelan oil industry were returning home loaded with gold. Citing sources, Bloomberg separately reported that Venezuelan officials have loaded some nine tons of gold onto Tehran-bound aircraft as payment for reviving Venezuela's gasoline refineries.

‘Invasion by sea’: Venezuela thwarts ‘mercenary’ infiltration attempt from Colombia

3 May, 2020 16:40 / Updated 1 day ago

Venezuelan authorities say they have foiled a raid by “foreign mercenaries” trying to reach the Latin American nation by sea to launch terrorist attacks and assassinate government officials.

A group of mercenaries have tried to infiltrate Venezuela’s major port of La Guaira, located just north of the nation’s capital of Caracas, Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said in a televised address. The incident, which the minister called “an invasion by sea,” was part of preparations for another coup attempt, he added.

Venezuela government says eight killed in foiled mercenary 'incursion'

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela’s government said it foiled a marine incursion on Sunday by “terrorist mercenaries” who attempted to enter the country on speedboats from neighboring Colombia, which opposition leaders dismissed as a staged incident.

President Nicolas Maduro frequently accuses political adversaries of attempting to overthrow him with the backing of Washington, which has vowed to force him from office through sanctions that have crippled the OPEC nation’s oil exports.
